Abstract

The success of supply chain implementation in producing manufactured product heavily relies on the development of CAD system, CAM system, and CNC machine tool. However, current CAD system, CAM system, and CNC machine tool have some weaknesses in supporting supply chain implementation. This paper presents an overview of STEP-NC and its role in supply chain of manufactured product. STEP-NC is a new interface standard for CAD-CAM-CNC chain, which is developed by International Standards Organization (ISO) to extend STEP model data to define data for NC machine tools. By using STEP-NC, the link of all information in supply chain of manufactured product will be more flexible, faster, easier, safer, and more reliable.

Abstract

Sustainability is the most effective concept to improve socio-economic condition, including environment. Constructive socio-economic changes are getting priority in recent years among academia and business sector in Bangladesh. Bangladesh poultry sub-sector has long supply chains having associated with various stakeholders. In this paper, a case poultry farm was taken to examine a production process that links with socio-economic benefits. Design science method under the quantitative paradigm was chosen to develop a model for the case industry. A Simulation model was developed using simul8 software to construct the real poultry operation. The objectives of this paper are to construct a sustainable model for a case poultry industry along with socio-economic issues. Later, simulated model output will examine it through various performance indicators (KPIs) to find out the impacts on socio-economic benefits. Numbers of KPIs have been briefly discussed in light of the research problem to illustrate positive effects of sustainable production.

Abstract

In this paper we developed a VRP model for multiple routes, multiple time windows for multiple products and heterogeneous vehicles. The solution were constructed using a heuristic approach, i.e, a sequential insertion algorithm. Additionally, this model is applied to solve fuel distributions for eight customers in East Nusa Tenggara. It needs two tankers with capacity of 4700 kilo liters, so that those distributions can be accomplished with a minimum number of vehicles, total completion time, and range of completion time. The result of this study shows that for a heterogeneous vehicles problem, a vehicle with the largest capacity may not necessarily be the vehicle that provides an optimal solution. Moreover, advance trials should be conducted by providing a limited number of tankers for each tanker capacity, so the description of heterogeneous vehicles becomes more visible. In the future research, the solution will be improved by utilizing relocation techniques.

Abstract

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a powerful development methodology with a wide range of applications. This paper presents a simple case using QFD on the design, detail, and process phase of a Meat Grinder product as a tool of improvement for hygienic of the Meat Grinder. The main purpose of QFD in this study was to apply in construction a method of customer-oriented design used in other industries, and to adapt some of the tables and matrices. Another purpose of this case study was to test the applicability of QFD in the design and process planning of a Meat Grinder. The developed prototype was chosen to be the screw part as the main part of the Grinder and a significant achievement was made on the improvement of hygienic, noted on less corrosive material selected of aluminum alloy 514.0 and improvement of surface roughness of 62.2%. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Quality Function Deployment (QFD) adalah metodologi pengembangan yang cukup handal dengan rentang aplikasi yang luas. Makalah ini mempresentasikan kasus sederhana penggunaan metode QFD pada tahapan desain, detail dan proses produk penggiling daging sebagai alat untuk meningkatkan higenitasnya. Tujuan utama dari QFD pada studi ini adalah untuk menerapkan desain yang berorientasi pada pelanggan dengan mengadaptasi beberapa matriks dan table pada tahapan-tahapannya. Tujuan yang lain yaitu untuk menguji kemampuan QFD pada proses perancangan sebuah penggiling daging. Prototipe yang dipilih untuk dikembangkan yaitu bagian ulir sebagai bagian utama dari sebuah penggiling daging dan hasil yang cukup signifikan telah didapat pada hal higenitas, ditandai dengan terpilihnya material yang kurang korosif yaitu paduan aluminium 514.0 sebagai material yang digunakan serta perbaikan nilai kekasaran permukaan sebesar 62.2 % dari produk yang telah ada dipasaran. Kata kunci: quality function deployment, the house of quality, penggiling daging.

Abstract

One of the programs that can be used to improve the quality is Six Sigma program using DMAIC method. The research is performed at PT Baninusa Indonesia (PT. BN) producing the 2nd type of 4JA1 piston ring. The program is implemented to decrease the defect proportion The production process performance and the problem priority are known from the CTQ itself. The fish bone diagram is used to determine the causes of the problem. The improvement is performed by determination of the best process parameter through the fullfactorial experiment design. The result is significantly decrease defect proportion by 2.682%. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Salah satu program peningkatan kualitas yang dapat mengakomodasi tuntutan peningkatan kualitas adalah program Six Sigma dengan menggunakan metode DMAIC. Penelitian dilakukan pada PT.Baninusa Indonesia (PT.BN), salah satu perusahaan yang memproduksi produk ring piston tipe 4JA1 jenis 2nd ring. Program digunakan untuk menurunkan persentase cacat produk. Dari CTQ yang ada dapat diketahui kinerja proses produksi saat ini dan prioritas permasalahan. Fish bone diagram digunakan untuk akar penyebab masalah Tindakan perbaikan yang dipilih adalah menentukan parameter proses terbaik dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen full factorial. Hasil penerapan parameter proses tersebut menunjukkan pengurangan yang signifikan terhadap persentase cacat sebesar 2,682%. Kata kunci: metoda six sigma, DMAIC, perbaikan kualitas, karakteristik kualitas kritis, diagram fish bone.

Abstract

UKM Batik Kota Semarang masih berfokus pada mempertahankan usaha dan mendapatkan keuntungan untuk kelangsungan produksi. Aspek keberlanjutan belum mendapat cukup perhatian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan penilaian keberlanjutan terhadap sistem produksi UKM Batik Kota Semarang menggunakan metode product-service system (PSS). PSS terdiri dari tiga dimensi keberlajutan yaitu lingkungan, sosial-budaya dan ekonomi yang masing-masing memiliki 6 kriteria. PSS bukan hanya menilai tingkat keberlanjutan tapi juga mengidentifikasi peluang pengembangan didasarkan dari peta sistem dan analisa SWOT. Perumusan rekomendasi menggunakan panduan berupa sebuah daftar periksa (check list). Selanjutnya, diagram kelayakan rekomendasi digunakan untuk menyeleksi dan menguji kelayakan rekomendasi yang diciptakan menggunaakan portofolio diagram. Penilaian keberlanjutan yang dilakukan memberikan hasil nilai rata – rata 0,103 yang berada dalam kategori “rendah”. Rekomendasi yang dihasilkan untuk dimensi lingkungan antara lain menerapkan penggunaaan bahan baku dan air yang optimal, melakukan daur ulang dari limbah pewarna buatan, penggunaan bahan baku bio-degradable. Pada dimensi sosial budaya rekomendasinya adalah penggunaan alat pelindung diri bagi pekerja. Pada dimensi ekonomi direkomendasikan untuk mengidentifikasi kelompok sasaran, menerapkan strategi yang menghasilkan produk lebih menarik bagi pelanggan dan menciptakan diversifikasi dalam penawaran batik. Rekomendasi ini kemudian digambarkan dalam sebuah diagram berupa radar keberlanjutan

Abstract

Cost is an important consideration in supply chain (SC) optimisation. This is due to emphasis placed on cost reduction in order to optimise profit. Some researchers use cost as one of their performance measures and others propose ways of accurately calculating cost. As product moves across SC, the product cost also increases. This paper studied the effect of cost increment distribution patterns on the performance of a JIT Supply Chain. In particular, it is necessary to know if inventory allocation across SC needs to be modified to accommodate different cost increment distribution patterns. It was found that funnel is still the best card distribution pattern for JIT-SC regardless the cost increment distribution patterns used.

Abstract

This paper discusses the concept of continuous improvement (CI) by looking beyond what traditionally highlighted in literature concerning continuous improvement or Total Quality Management (TQM). The primary argument put forwarded in the discussion is that despite the undeniable positive results from CI practices, the way these activities are implemented, however, will lead to most programs becoming self-limiting. It needs to be asserted here that this paper is not intended to despise CI, rather, its purpose is limited only to provide a balance on the prevailing positive views toward CI.

Abstract

Dairy industry is one of the essential global industries with considerably important implications for world economy where the dairy supply chains (DSC) cover every stage of the food system starting from the milk production at farmer level to final consumption. For achieving success in the dairy supply chain, it is needed to focus on critical factors (CFs) that are necessary for an organization to achieve its corporate goals with continually improving the operational performance. In this context, the current study is an attempt to identify the critical factors causing low-productivity in dairy supply chains. After comprehensive literature review and pilot studies in some dairy industries located in northern region of India, a total of 32 critical factors have been identified. A structured questionnaire consisting of 32 CFs have been circulated and the data has been collected from select cooperative dairy units. Further, only eight major critical factors have been carried forward for AHP analysis based on the data collected. The factor having higher weightage score is considered as major CF. The findings of this study indicate that the poor logistics and transportation facilities is the most critical factor as productivity barrier in the context of coop. milk processing units in northern India. This research study would be useful for the dairy professionals & managers of milk processing units to manage their production operations effectively by considering the identified CFs.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of the governance assistance for the Maduranese Small Medium Enterprises. The aids were given though cooperation between SMES and state-owned companies, the easiness to get credit loans, entrepreneurial trainings. The Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed to test the hypotheses which emerged from those conditions. Moreover, the AMOS 4.0 was also used to perform the SEM. The results showed that the easiness to get credit loan has not improved the SMEs’ performance directly, contradictively, it decreased their performances. Additionally, centralized entrepreneurial trainings also could not boost their performances. The only factor which has a positive impact was the cooperation between the SMEs and the state-owned companies. Based on these results, we therefore, propose policies that include the cooperation between state-owned as well as public companies and SMEs. Moreover, they also should aware on the Maduranesse culture. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia: Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh tata kelola pembinaan pemerintah (bantuan Badan Usaha Milik Negara dan kredit perbankan dan kewirausahaan) terhadap kinerja Industri Kecil dan Menengah (IKM). Analisis yang digunakan untuk menjawab hipotesis adalah Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) dengan menggunakan program AMOS 4.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembinaan yang dilakukan pemerintah melalui pemberian kredit perbankan ternyata tidak serta merta dapat meningkatkan kinerja tetapi malah menurunkan kinerja. Demikian juga pola pendidikan kewirausahaan yang formal dan tersentralisasi terbukti tidak dapat meningkatkan kinerja IKM di Madura. Perumusan tentang beberapa kebijakan operasional yang perlu mendapatkan perhatian pihak pemerintah terutama penguatan di bidang usaha spesifik kekhasan budaya lokal. Pola kerja sama dengan Badan Usaha Milik Negara dengan pola bisnis murni mungkin bisa menjadi alternatif pembinaan pemerintah dengan berpegang teguh pada budaya masyarakat Madura. Kata kunci: bantuan Badan Usaha Milik Negara, kewirausahaan dan kinerja Industri Kecil Menengah.
