Abstract

Concept of entrepreneurship has been widely debated whether to be an entrepreneur one need to get formal entrepreneurial education or not. Most of the formal entrepreneur education yield the same flaw, which is the lack of teaching soft skill and building the necessary entrepreneurship characteristics. Intention-based models of entrepreneurship education try to fill the gap by focusing the education on the human intention of becoming entrepreneur by defining four model of entrepreneurship education. An empirical research is conducted to show simple application on defining and understanding the model where the result could be used for giving some insight on constructing the appropriate model for entrepreneurship education in the future.

Abstract

Manual materials handling has been identified as the most common cause of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Among the manual material handling activities, lifting has long been regarded as an activity associated with a high risk of low-back pain. Lifting studies have mainly focused on the squat and stoop lifting techniques as an effort to improve the protection of workers from low back discomfort. However, neither is ideal and the benefits of one technique over another have proved inconclusive. The purpose of this study was to examine and compare the squat and stoop lifting techniques through analysis of muscles activation by using electromyography. Six volunteers participated in the study, and were required to lift a weight with squat and stoop techniques, with two types of loading at 1,7 kg and 6,7 kg. Observations were made on the rectus femoris, biceps femoris, and multifidus muscles. The results of study showed that the squat technique had higher levels of muscle activation compared to stoop technique on rectus femoris muscle. On the contrary, squat technique had lower muscle activation compared to stoop technique on biceps fermoris muscle. Meanwhile, both techniques squat and stoop had the same level of muscle activation on multifidus muscle. Conclusion, squat and stoop lifting techniques had the same opportunities to use.

Abstract

In Indonesia, 99.8% of the businesses are SMEs. However, those SMEs only contribute to the 56.7% of the Indonesia GDP.  This happened, mainly due to the limitations of SMEs which use traditional technologies in the production process. Therefore, in 2014, the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Cooperation and Small Medium Entreprises launced a new strategic plan to empowering the SMEs by applying the Advanced Manufacting Technology (AMT). It is believed that by applying the AMT in the SMEs can increase productivities, expand the market share and raised national economic growth. This study, identified the used of AMT in the Indonesia SMEs, especially in foods, beverages, herbal and handicraft sectors. Additionally, it is also measured the impact of the used of AMT in the SMEs’ performaces. In this study, it is found that 76.6 % of the total sampel (253 SMEs) declared that they use the AMT. This indicates that the Indonesia SMEs have a clear operation mission, process production, high quality products and meet the customer’s satisfaction. It is also found that the percentage of the hard technology is higher than the soft technology. This showed that there is a large effort to increase the productivity in the process production. Finally, we found that the impact of the AMT used to the SMEs’ performance in the market share, profitability and organization performance is increased significantly.

Abstract

The problem structuring methods used to deal with complex  and ill-structured problems. One of the method of structuring ill-structured  problem is the Strategic Choice Approach (SCA), while one of the problems of complex and ill-structuredproblems  is a supply chain management problems. This research proposes the use of a cognitive map as a base application of SCA on the problems of supply chain management at PT X, a leading manufacturing company in Indonesia. Three main results of this study are structuring problems, choosing of the top priority problems, and choosing of troubleshooting options among other identified options.

Abstract

The necessity to cut costs and inventory along supply chain makes a more integrated decision between production and distribution functions becomes very important. The purpose of this research is to develop a simultaneous and decoupled optimization model to solve integrated production-inventory-distribution-inventory problem. The model is formulated as Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) with objective function minimizing total cost which covers fixed and variable production cost, plant and Distribution Center (DC) inventory cost, regular and overtime delivery cost. As the conclusion of the two models used to solve integrated production-inventory-distribution-inventory problem, the total cost of simultan model is smaller than the decoupled one.

Abstract

In practice, the certainess assumption for parameters in linear programming are difficult to pullfiled. The uncertainties are sometimes coming from subjective and intuitive policies. To solve and accommodate these problems, will be approximated by fuzzy set theory. In this article, modeling of linear programming with fuzzy set will be discussed, followed by two cases with membership function are trapezoidal and triangular.

Abstract

Assembly line balancing is one of the most important management decisions for reducing production costs. So far, many researches have been done in this area. In this research, we expand the U-type line-balancing using goal programming for multi objective model with two goals, i.e., minimized the number of temporary workers and number of cycle time in each station. Additionally, an example to illustrate the model, as well as some analyses is presented. Different amount of time for temporary worker to accomplish their tasks were generated. For some cases, the U-type assembly line is more efficient than the straight one. However, the goal 1 and goal 2 are conflicted

Abstract

We considered the nonparametric regression model : Zj = X(tj) + ej, j = 1,2,…,n, where X(tj) is the regression curve. The random error ej are independently distributed normal with a zero mean and a variance s2/bj, bj > 0. The estimation of X obtained by minimizing a Weighted Least Square. The solution of this optimation is a Weighted Spline Polynomial. Further, we give an application of weigted spline estimator in nonparametric regression. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Diberikan model regresi nonparametrik : Zj = X(tj) + ej, j = 1,2,…,n, dengan X (tj) kurva regresi dan ej sesatan random yang diasumsikan berdistribusi normal dengan mean nol dan variansi s2/bj, bj > 0. Estimasi kurva regresi X yang meminimumkan suatu Penalized Least Square Terbobot, merupakan estimator Polinomial Spline Natural Terbobot. Selanjutnya diberikan suatu aplikasi estimator spline terbobot dalam regresi nonparametrik. Kata kunci: Spline terbobot, Regresi nonparametrik, Penalized Least Square.

Abstract

Complaint is a signal that indicates important information directly by customers. Complaint will give valuable information to company to plan recovery strategies to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty. Hence, electronic waste (E-waste) becomes a hot issue internationally, domestically and locally. There are many kind of regulations, strategy, methods or approach to minimize of E-waste. The goal of this research is design of house of reverse logistics (HRL) to understanding the customer needs and wants for reverse logistics (RL) implementation. This research adopted quality function deployment (QFD) method to construct the HRL. Differences among them are determination of the customer needs and wants. HRL insert five perspectives i.e. input, structure, process, output, and social and organization. In other hand, QFD only inserts consumer perspectives. The results showed the important factors of consumer dissatisfaction comes from: third-party services mechanism (20%), collaboration RL system (collection centers, recycling centers, disposal center; 10%), the standardization of servicing system (10%).
