Abstract

The decisions to choose appropriate tools for solving industrial problems are not just tools that achieve optimal solution only but it should consider computation time too. One of industrial problems that still difficult to achieve both criteria is scheduling problem. This paper discuss comparison between mixed integer programming which result optimal solution and heuristic method to solve job shop scheduling problem with separable sequence-dependent setup. The problems are generated and the result shows that the heuristic methods still cannot satisfy optimal solution.

Abstract

Agriculture is one of the most crucial and hazardous sectors in both the developing and the developed countries. The agriculture area has a various problem related to safety and health, calling an urgent research to solve the problem. The purpose of this study is to apply ergonomics checkpoint in agriculture (developed by ILO) in Indonesian as well as to observe the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms among Indonesian farmers.251 Indonesian farmers participate voluntarily in this study. “Ergonomic checkpoint in agriculture” as a tool to reduce agriculture-related accident and increase productivity is assessed by student researcher. Prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms (MSS) is assessed using Nordic body map that is filling out by participants. Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA), Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), and postural analysis using 3 dimension Static Prediction Program (3D SSPP) are applied to observe the risk activities of Indonesian farmers including the manual hoe for land clearing, grass cutting for land clearing, planting the rice, manual plow, giving fertilizer, harvesting, threshing, cleaning the rice from the straw, and sun-drying of rice. According to ergonomics checkpoints, material handling and storage are the worst in Indonesian agriculture, coupled with minimum safety information, toilet and washing facilities, and first aid. The high-risk activities are manual hoe for land clearing, manual plow, grass cutting for land clearing and threshing. The reported MSS mainly found in the shoulder and lower back.In conclusion, Indonesian agriculture is in a poor ergonomics condition and is associated with high musculoskeletal symptoms. The postural analysis also reveals a high risk of farmer activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of varying demand on the production lot size and the schedule of delivery in the integrated inventory system. This system is consisted of a single manufacturer as the supplier and a single buyer. Mostly, the problems on the economic lot size model are assumed that demand is continuous with time. Actually, demand occurs are varying in time rather than continuously over the planning time horizon. In this case, the buyer has decided the amount of order for each period is varied, because of the changing market environment. The integrated inventory system model between a supplier and a buyer are developed and implemented under the condition with varied demand. Forward dynamic programming is implemented for searching the solution. The objective is to minimize the total cost, associated with a single product for a deterministic varying demand. Two conditions are examined here, i.e., the integrated model with uncapacitated and capacitated production system. The difference between these two models is in the constraints formulation. The capacity constraints will give higher total cost, especially if the setup cost higher than the holding cost. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the implementation of the solution algorithm. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia: Pada makalah ini diteliti pengaruh permintaan yang berfluktuasi terhadap penentuan ukuran lot produksi dan jadwal pengiriman pada sistem persediaan terintegrasi, dengan total ongkos persediaan melibatkan sistem persediaan pemanufaktur dan pembeli secara bersama. Sistem terdiri atas pemanufaktur tunggal dan pembeli tunggal untuk pemesanan satu jenis produk.Umumnya permasalahan penentuan ukuran lot produksi memiliki asumsi bahwa permintaan bersifat kontinu terhadap waktu. Penentuan ukuran lot pada model integrasi sistem persediaan antara pemanufaktur dan pembeli dengan kondisi permintaan berfluktuatif bertujuan meminimasi total ongkos. Pencarian solusi penentuan ukuran lot produksi dengan permintaan berfluktuatif mempergunakan pendekatan forward dynamic programming. Adapun model integrasi yang dikemukakan mempertimbangkan dua kondisi, yaitu kondisi kapasitas produksi tidak terbatas dan kapasitas produksi terbatas. Perbedaan formulasi terletak pada kondisi pembatas yang digunakan. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa apabila ongkos setup jauh lebih tinggi dari pada ongkos simpan, maka kondisi dengan mempertimbangkan kapasitas akan menghasilkan total ongkos yang lebih tinggi. Suatu contoh numerik diberikan sebagai ilustrasi dari algoritma yang diusulkan. Kata kunci: ukuran lot produksi, fluktuasi permintaan, jadwal pengiriman, integrasi pemanufaktur-pembeli, programa dinamis.

Abstract

The paper discusses the decision making problem for worker selection. To solved this problem is applied the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process, development of the ordinary Analytical Hierarchy Process which created to handle the subjectivity of multi-criteria. The best choice by Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process showed that subjectivities criteria have been included comparing by the ordinary Analytical Hierarchy Process. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Makalah ini membahas mengenai masalah pengambilan keputusan untuk memilih alternatif karyawan terbaik. Untuk memecahkan masalah ini digunakan Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process, pengembangan Analytical Hierarchy Process konvensional yang dirancang untuk menangani permasalahan yang kriteria-kriterianya lebih banyak bersifat subjektif. Pilihan karyawan terbaik dengan Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process menunjukkan bahwa subjektifitas kriteria sangat diperhatikan dibandingkan dengan menggunakan Analytical Hierarchy Process konvensional. Abstract

The article discusses the problem of flexible flowshop scheduling with sequence-dependent setup. The Lagrangian relaxation method is used to solve the problem by decomposes an initial complex problem into simpler subproblem. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Artikel ini membahas penjadwalan yang mempunyai karakteristik flexible flowshop dengan sequence-dependent setup. Metode penyelesaian yang digunakan adalah relaksasi Lagrangian dengan menguraikan problem awal yang kompleks menjadi sebuah subproblem yang lebih sederhana. Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of Tri Hita Karana culture toward entrepreneurial orientation and market orientation of SMEs of silver craft in Bali. The population of this research is all small and medium size enterprises of silver craft in Bali. By using purposive random sampling, 110 small and medium size enterprises located in four regencies in Bali were selected as samples. The data collection technique was distributing questionnaires. Furthermore, to test the inter-variabels influence, inferential analysis of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is applied using Partial Least Square (PLS) approach. The findings of this research are Tri Hita Karana culture could improve the entrepreneurial orientation and market orientation. It was also found that the entrepreneurial orientation influence the market orientation.

Abstract

Aplication of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) technology to provide the data information, especially at manufacture the warehouse, it can not be done quickly, exactly (real-time) and efficient because the product write system and product data entry is still done manually to the ERP system. This conditions effect to the product first in first out (FIFO) system that does not well, and there is a relatively high of employees. To solve the weakness that happened in ERP technology implementation, it must be done integration with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. This integration produce lowering activity at warehouse become 50%. This activities lowering provide the velocity, data exactly, and also employee efficiency. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Aplikasi teknologi Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) dalam menyampaikan informasi data, khususnya pada gudang barang jadi perusahaan tidak dapat dilakukan dengan cepat, tepat (real-time) dan efisien karena sistem pencatatan produk masih dilakukan secara manual serta memasukkan data produk juga dilakukan secara manual ke sistem ERP. Pemasukan dan pencatatan data yang masih manual berdampak terhadap sistem first in first out (FIFO) produk yang tidak terlaksana dengan baik, dan tenaga kerja yang digunakan relatif banyak. Untuk mengatasi kelemahan yang terjadi pada penerapan teknologi ERP tersebut, maka dilakukan integrasi dengan teknologi Radio Frequency Identification (RFId). Dalam penelitian pada sebuah gudang barang jadi di suatu perusahaan furniture, maka integrasi tersebut menghasilkan pengurangan aktivitas sebesar 50%. Pengurangan aktivitas ini menghasilkan kecepatan, ketepatan data serta efisiensi tenaga kerja. Kata kunci: ERP, RFId, FIFO.

Abstract

A new evolutionary computation algorithm, Superbug algorithm, which simulates evolution of bacteria in a culture, is proposed. The algorithm is developed for solving large scale optimization problems such as scheduling, transportation and assignment problems. In this work, the algorithm optimizes machine schedules in a Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) by minimizing makespan. The FMS comprises of four machines and two identical Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). AGVs are used for carrying jobs between the Load/Unload (L/U) station and the machines. Experimental results indicate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm in its optimization performance in scheduling is noticeably superior to other evolutionary algorithms when compared to the best results reported in the literature for FMS Scheduling.

Abstract

Bed active carbon is one of the most important materials that had great impact in determining level of impurities in production of CO2 gas. In this particular factory case, there is unavailability of standard duration time of heating and cooling and steam flow rate for the re-generation process of bed active carbon. The paper discusses the fuzzy inference system for modeling of re-generation process of bed active carbon to find the optimum setting parameter. The fuzzy inference system was build using real historical daily processing data. After validation process, surface plot analysis was performed to find the optimum setting. The result of re-generation parameter setting is 9-10 hours of heating process, 4.66-5.32 hours of cooling process, and 1500-2500 kg/hr of steam flow rate.

Abstract

Many manufacturing companies are facing uncertainties and stiff competition both locally and globally, intensified by increasing needs for sophisticated and high value products from demanding customers. These companies are forced to improve the quality of their supply chain management decisions, products and reduce their manufacturing costs. With today’s volatile and very challenging global market, many manufacturing companies have started to realize the importance of the proper managing of their supply chains. Supply chain management (SCM) involves practices such as strategic supplier partnership, customer focus, lean production, postpone concept and technology & innovation. This study investigates the importance of SCM on financial optimization. The study measures production or SCM managers’ perceptions regarding SCM and level of performances in their companies. The paper also specifically investigates whether supply chain performance acts as a mediating variable in the relationship between SCM and financial optimization. These associations were analyzed through statistical methods such as Pearson’s correlation and a regression-based mediated analysis. The findings suggest that SCM has significant correlations with supply chain performance and financial optimization. In addition, the result of the regression-based mediated analysis demonstrates that supply chain performance mediates the linkage between SCM and financial optimization. The findings of the study provide a striking demonstration of the importance of SCM in enhancing the performances of Malaysian manufacturing companies. The result indicates that manufac-turing companies should emphasize greater management support for SCM implementation and a greater degree of attention for production integration and information flow integration in the manufacturing system in order to maximize profit and tzerimize cost.
