Abstract

The weakening macro condition of Indonesia’s economy in the last five years has influenced the economic performance of the television media industry. Since that time, media advertising expenditure as the largest revenue source for the television industry has been declining. The purpose of this research is to know how each group of broadcast media corporations in this country are competing and trying to control the market of the media industry. Methods used in this research was adopting both the quantitative analysis which leans back upon the organization the field of industrial (in theory). Relying on the Structure-Conduct-Performance analysis model, the result of this research reveals that although the economic slowdown impacts the economic performance of the corporate group of television, the roles of three groups of television media corporations: Global Mediacom, Elang Mahkota Teknologi, and Visi Media Asia remain dominant. The market audience and television ads are concentrated in these three groups and build an increasingly uncompetitive structure for other industry players. This research contributes to give insight on the current economic situation of national television industry.

Abstract

This research aims at identifying the reality of women activities in using digital media. This research was conducted at Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Using qualitative research approach to observe information among informants, this resaerch found that women have limited access to information and communication technology. Women used digital media to get information to support their activities. They used mobile phone and personal computer to access the internet. The use of mobile phone was more than personal computer. Based on the result, this research recommends that digital literacy played important role to sustain women activities. The process of adoption of innovative technologies enhances women capability to improve UMKM activities. In addition, internet access enhances women’s economic sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the understanding of the mine repellent group PT.ABC communication strategy through the CSR program. Research using qualitative descriptive approach with the constructivist paradigm. Data collection technique used the techniques of interview and literature study. The study design is done with the design of the case study. The results showed PT.ABC has been running various CSR programs that include four areas of activity: community development, education, health and infrastructure improvements. Nevertheless, the rejection of a repellent group remain. Some of the factors, the program is limited to a certain group, employment is still very limited, and the tendency of corporations to be closed to some sensitive issues like IUP, illegal miners and environmental damage. Constraints faced by the corporation less communicate openly with repellent group, the CSR program is also still limited to a few groups, the limited competence of communicating CSR employee-related mines, as well as the personal interests of the group repellent utilizing the mine issue.

Abstract

The social movement that strongly opposed the construction of cement plant in Sukolilo, Pati, Central Java constitutes a unique social movement. This movement, which is known as protest action, was conducted in a non violent way. One of the ways to embrace people in Sukolilo is by using communication strategy, called as ‘gethok tular’. This is a communication strategy based on local wisdom owned by Samin community. In its growth, gethok tular has formed communication pattern in Samin’s social movement. The communication pattern of gethok tular is in the form of informal communication. This paper was based on the result of constructivist research using ethnography of communication approach. Direct and in-depth interviews were employed to collect data.

Abstract

Information and communication technology currently has grown to such an extent, not only to meet the needs for information only, but now has grown to the fulfillment of the will of entertainment. These developments, and then bring up the creative industries technology-based communication and information, one of them is online gaming. Creative industries in this area, has become a phenomenon by itself, and makes it as one of the important sectors for economic growth. However, based on the data we get, there are still constraints faced in the development of this industry, such as: the limitations of knowledge, capital, the absence of Government support, as well as the lack of adequate infrastructure. The negative impact was unavoidable as well as from the industry, for example, will the existence of addiction for the gamers who have an impact on crime and action elements of pornography are also inherent in this online game. Therefore, it takes the good cooperation between the developers of the game and also the Government to be able to develop the online gaming industry. There is awareness of the game developer to make a quality game play and has educational values.

Abstract

The research is about self concept in the relations with popular culture, that in the youth cultures has been done since 30 years ago. The term of self concept which becomes focus on this paper was defined by Rogers as how someone see and feel himself. This paper is based on limited introduction research ofphenomenology about self concept of Cosplay Party members in Bandung City. The amount of informants is four and the frequency of interview just twice. The result of the research shows that informants have different background and have positive self concept. They involve in costume player started with their hobby in watching anime and join in Cosplay because of the same of value between them

Abstract

Communication in education and learning gives a great contribution in the success and effectivity learning achievement which is expected. The same as a teachers when they making communication in the class. There are a lot of model and innovation in learning communication, for example Cooperative Learning (CL), Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL), Inquiry, and Problem Solving. This learning model concern that every learning process of active students create their own knowledge (student centered). By using positivisme percepective that tends to avoid talking about reality which is can not be observed (Rohim, 225:2009). The approach which is used in this research is using quantitative approach because it is needed to measure the impact of indepent variable to dependent variable, in other words to measure the cause and effect (causal), (Sugiyono, 2010:190). This research shows that learning strategy and cooperative communication significantly give a big impact to students’ achievement, this data is supported with the data that shows students’ learning achievement in Bahasa Indonesia is better than students’ learning achievement which is using convensional group learning strategy.

Abstract

This research is motivated by development of radio broadcasting using streaming concept to broadcast to the listeners. Before streaming broadcast radio it need planting perception, resulting satisfaction to listeners. Problem and research objectives is to what extent the relationship between the audience’s perception of streaming radio and streaming radio contact with the extent of audience satisfaction. This research based on the theory of use and gratification and using the quantitative methodology, with quota sampling technique, respondents of PT. MNC Sky Vision Jakarta. The research result shown that there is a relation between the perception of streaming radio and there is a real relationship between the satisfaction of streaming radio.

Abstract

Purworejo district government has given extension techniques of Kaligesing goat breeding through Field Extension Officer (PPL) to the breeders.However, breeders assess the knowledge and experience of Field Extension Officer (PPL) has not been optimal in the breeding of Kaligesing goat. The aim of this research is to know how the government’s communication system adapts to the complexity of Field Extension Officer (PPL)knowledge that has not been optimal in the breeding of Kaligesing goat. The theory of the research is communication system in perspective of Niklas Luhmann. The research was used explorative case study method.Population of the research in Purworejo regency which was the center of Kaligesing goat farming.The result of the study shown that the government’s communication system in facing the complexity of Field Extension Officer (PPL) knowledge that has not been optimal, has produced and reproduced the form of training, comparative study, and provision of pilot land. But government communication system not effective in reducted and selected feedback from Field Extension Officer (PPL). So reproduction of regulation not solved environment complexity. Production and reproduction of regulation from government communication system not adaptive with environment complexity.
