Abstract

Technological developments have colored every aspect of life in various age levels. The age group of children belongs to a group that is vulnerable to the development of these technologies, especially the use of gadgets. Rational and age-appropriate gadget usage is one way to overcome the impact of using gadgets. This community service program aims to provide information and skills on how to deal with or handle the use of gadgets for children. This program is carried out with the delivery of 4 (four) materials through lectures, focus group discussions, and role play. Four material presented are: introduction to children's growth and development, the impact of gadgets, how to recognize the behavior of children who are addicted to gadgets, and design activities to make children avoid gadgets. The results of data analysis of the tests before and after the implementation of the program showed information about child growth and development which contributed 21.66% in increasing parents 'and teachers' knowledge of their children's development, information about the dangers of gadgets contributed 40.75% in increasing the knowledge of parents and teachers, and information about positive parenting has a very significant role of 46.05% in increasing the knowledge of parents and teachers towards positive parenting.

Abstract

At this time, there is a lot of ready-to-drink drinking water consisting of mineral water and demineralized drinking water such as Reverse Osmosis (RO) both in packets and refills. Drinking water must meet biological, chemical, and physical requirements so that it does not have negative effects on health. One of the chemical requirements is about the main mineral content of calcium and magnesium in drinking water. Based on research results, drinking water with low minerals (usually expressed as low water hardness) if consumed for a long time will cause health problems, for example increasing the risk of several diseases such as cancer, coronary heart disease, and others. Absorption of toxic metals such as Pb will occur if the minerals calcium and magnesium are very low in drinking water. So, if there is a small amount of Pb toxic metals in food, it will be easily absorbed by the body when calcium and magnesium levels are low in drinking water. However, if calcium and magnesium are sufficient in drinking water, the absorption of Pb, both in drinking water and other food, will be inhibited or not occur. Means can avoid diseases caused by these toxic metals. Therefore, the World Health Organization (WHO) determined that the calcium and magnesium content in drinking water each with a minimum requirement is 20 mg of calcium and 10 mg of magnesium in one liter of drinking water. The Indonesian Ministry of Health in 1975 only stated that the maximum calcium content in drinking water was 75 mg / liter of drinking water and there were no minimum requirements. Then the Ministry of Health in 2010 did not include the calcium and magnesium requirements but only the hardness requirements. So low-mineral drinking water will absorb (trap) the minerals present in other foods and dispose of them so that the body lacks minerals in the long run. Water without minerals will also reduce the process of absorption of minerals in digestion, and can even bind minerals from the body if consumed without other food. Low mineral water is not good as drinking water, especially demineralized drinking water that does not contain minerals can cause health problems especially water without minerals such as RO drinking water. The results showed that the levels of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) in bottled and refilled drinking water in Medan more did not reach the minimum levels of calcium and magnesium, meaning that drinking water was low in minerals. Even more important is that producers of refilled RO drinking water are in Medan (some claim to get permission from the government) and there is even a bottled RO drinking water product which means getting permission from the Drug and Food Control (POM).

Tanjung Morawa area is located on the outskirts of Medan, known as a center for ornamental plants, fruits and vegetables. Communities in this area make crop cultivation a livelihood. This study aims to study strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT analysis) of the quality of hotel services in the city of Medan in the MICE industry. The research method used is a qualitative method using an internal factor evaluation (IFE) matrix and an external factor evaluation (EFE) matrix with decision making using the Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) matrix. The results of this study indicate that shows that the development of marketing strategies based on social media. Analysis of external and internal factors using the Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) and External Factor Evaluation (EFE) matrices indicate that the internal influence is greater than the internal factors.

Abstract

Increasing the population automatically increases the demand for soap which encourages the development of soap production both by large, medium industries and home industries (IRT). The use of liquid bath soap shows an increasing trend but is not followed by an adequate production rate. This shows a huge market opportunity for the production and marketing of liquid bath soap. For this reason, community service is carried out to one of the household scale soap producers, which is one of the darma to the community. The soap production process by Mitra is still carried out manually using a paint bucket and a large wooden stirrer. This results in inefficient processes and low production rates. The packaging of soap products produced by Mitra is still very simple, using used aqua bottles so the selling price is also cheap. Unattractive packaging is feared to make products from Partners unable to compete in the market. In addition, Partners still do not have a Business Plan even though research activities in the field of product development are always carried out by Partners. This dedication activity offers a solution to overcome the above problems through technology transfer for the manufacture of liquid bath soap in the form of equipment procurement, liquid soap soap processing methods, product quality inspection in the laboratory, packaging procedures, and business management including in the case of making a business plan that can support financial independence. The soap quality test results show that the density and free alkali parameters have met the SNI. The level of respondents' preference for the product was also very positive. The product also does not provide an irritating effect for the user
