Abstract

AbstractThis research was a Quasi-experiment with pretest and posttest design instigated by student activity and learning achievement that were still on low category.  It aimed at knowing the effect of using Quick on the Draw learning model toward student activity and chemistry learning achievement.  The subjects of this research were the tenth grade students of classes 5 (control group) and 6 (experimental group) selected through Simple random sampling technique.  Learning activity data were obtained through observation sheet of student learning activity, and learning achievement data were obtained learning achievement test (posttest).  Then, learning activity data were analyzed by using Descriptive statistical and inferential (nonparametric) analysis techniques.  The data of learning achievement were analyzed by using t test at 5% level.  The research findings revealed that (1) there was an effect of using Quick on the Draw learning model toward student learning activity that Zobserved 4.87 was higher than Ztable 1.96, it meant that Ha was accepted; (2) there was an effect of using Quick on the Draw learning model toward student learning achievement that tobserved 2.63 was higher than ttable 2.00, it meant that Ha was accepted.  It showed that Quick on the Draw learning model positively affected student activity and chemistry learning achievement on Hydrocarbon lesson at the tenth grade of State Senior High School 1 Tambang.Keywords: Quick On The Draw Learning Model, Learning Activity, Learning Achievement, Hydrocarbon.

Abstract

Based on the information obtained student learning outcomes are still relatively low. The reason for this is still applied learning model that is dominated by teachers, so that students are not actively involved in the learning process. To overcome this, efforts have been made to change with group learning. The result of group learning was not maximal because of the dominance in the group, so the students' understanding is uneven. As a result student learning outcomes are still many below  assigned the minimum criteria. Based on this, the authors conducted a cooperative learning model study with pair checks approach. Application of this learning model is expected to improve student achievement as a whole. That is because in this learning model students are trained sharing skills by working in pairs and pairwise checking arrangements, so no more terms dominate in the group. This form of research is an experiment with pretest and posttest design. The research sample consisted of two classes of X SMAN 3 Duri, class X.7 as experiment class and class X.10 as control class. Processed data are pretest and posttest values on hydrocarbon subject. Hypothesis test data processing using t-test formula obtained t-quantification bigger than t-table that is 2,65> 1,67, meaning hypochetical application of cooperative learning model with pair checks approach can improve student achievement on hydrocarbon subject in SMAN 3 Duri accepted. Keywords: Cooperative Learning, Pair Checks Approach, Learning Achievement

Abstract

AbstractThe research is an experimental research, motivated by the results of studying chemistry Pharmacy Vocational High School students Ikasari Pekanbaru which is still low with an average value below the Minimum Learning Mastery Standard (KKM) and lack of interest of students reading chemistry books.The aim of the study is to improve students’ learning outcomes on the subject in the 10th grade Stoichiometry. The samples in this study were taken from two classes of the X5 as experimental class and class X4 as the control class. The sample is selected by using simple random sampling. Data collection techniques in this research are used to test the homogeneity as preliminary data on previous material, documentation, observation, pretest and posttest as the final data. To determine whether or not a sample is homogeneous, the analysis employs Bartlet test, and to end the data the "t" test is used. Final data processing results obtained by value tobtain = 16.65 and ttable = 1.99 and showed tobtain>ttabel.So H0 is rejected, indicating the influenced of PQ4R strategy concept hierarchy based on learning outcomes are seen from the average difference posttestexperiment at 77.36, and 74.75 with control influence coefficient of 17.97%.Keywords: learning outcomes, PQ4R, Hierarchy concept, stoichiometry

Abstract

AbstractBilions of new inorganic compounds and many synthetic methods has discovered for decades based on many reason. Its wider use makes inorganic compounds continuously synthesized by chemists. However, most of them were not produced in Indonesia. One of the solution was preparing synthesizing inorganic compounds subject matter to preservice chemistry teacher. Nevertheless, because it is not easy to mastered, didactic reduction must be done. The objection of this study was to reconstructed this subject matter using the Model of Educational Reconstruction (MER), start form curriculum analysis, empirical studies, and analysis of content structure. This research was conducted by mixed method exploratory design, with preservice chemistry teacher 6th and 8th semester as the sample. The reconstruction of synthesis inorganic compounds subject matter material was the following sequence of macro propositions: general description of synthesized of inorganic compounds, benefits of the inorganic compounds, reactions that can underlie possible formation of inorganic compounds, the thermodynamics and kinetics of reactions processes the properties of the inorganic compounds, basic synthesis techniques and basic characterization techniques. Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was instigated by the questionnaire result that 51% students of State Senior High School 8 supposed that the Chemistry subject was difficult, and the lack of using educational website.  This research aimed at (1) producing chemistry instructional media website based, (2) knowing validity and practicality level of chemistry instructional media website based on Acid Base Lesson at State Senior High School 8.It was a Research and Development (R&D).  The steps of this research were using Borg & Gall model that was limited to the fifth step—revising the test result.  The mean score of media validation by the material and media experts was 89.58% and it was stated very valid.  In practicality test score done by 5 Chemistry subject teachers, the result was 86.66% showing that chemistry instructional media website based was very practical to be used in facilitating teaching and learning process atState Senior High School 8.  In the test result of 35 students for knowing student response to chemistry instructional media website based, the result was 76.59% showing that the media was on good and proper category to be used. Abstract

This research was used experimental method that aimed to determine the effect of the application of learning cycle 5E (engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, evaluation) learning model  to students' science process skills (SPS) on the solubility and constant solubility product material at State Senior High School number 4 in school year 2017/2018 . The method used is quasi experimental design. Samples were taken by simple random sampling technique. The sample in this research is XI IPA 4 as the control class and  XI IPA 6 as the experimental class. Data collection techniques in this study is observation. Data were analyzed using t-test assisted by software SPSS 25.00 for windows software. The results of data processing obtained the value of t count = 9.546 and t table = 1.933 with a significant level of 0.000 (sig <0.05). The average N-gain value of student’s SPS in control class is 0.138 with a low category and students in experimental class 0.541 with the medium category. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the application of the learning cycle 5E learning model influences student’s SPS in solubility and constant solubility product material.

Abstract

Chemistry had been regarded as a difficult subject for students by some reason, such as because of the abstract nature of many chemical concepts. Teachers should help students to resolve difficulties in understanding of chemical concepts. Develop students critical thinking and scientific thinking is one of several ways to help students more easily in understanding of chemical concepts. Practicum in the lab can train students to think critically and at the same time build students' understanding of the chemical concepts.The purpose of this research was to describes critical thinking skills , conceptual understanding, and correlation of critical thinking skills with students' conceptual understanding. This type of research is descriptive research. Informants in this research is the student of the second grade in SMAN 15 Padang. The instrument used in this research is essay test, CCTT-X test  and observation sheet. The results showed that class with a practicum in early learning will further develop critical thinking skills and students ' understanding of concepts rather than classes with practicum at the end of learning, and also correlation of students critical thinking with their conceptual understanding is very week.

Abstract

This research investigate the effect of media hydrocarbon Chemistry Triangle oriented on the high, medium, and low level school in Padang and to identify the interaction between the school level and treatment of chemical learning. This experimental study used a randomized posttest-only control group design. The experimental group experienced a media-based hydrocarbon chemistry triangle lesson while the control group was treated by conventional approach. The student participants were divided into high, medium, and low level schools based on their group mean score on the UN chemistry subject test in the academic year 2013/2014. Posttest score data were analyzed by using a T-test and two way ANOVA. This research concluded that (1) overall, the scores of students who were treated with the Media Hydrocarbon Chemistry Triangle were higher than students receiving the conventional treatment, and (2) there is no interaction between the use of instructional media and the school level. This means that instructional media has a good effect on students outcomes.

Abstract

This type of research is the development research. Model and procedures development using 4-D model comprising the steps define, design, develop, and disseminate. In the define phase, analysis of curriculum and analysis of learner are done, the design phase is to design learning modules blended learning web-based centric course Moodle. At the stage of develop, validated by linguists, design experts, media specialists and subject matter experts and trial limited to SMAN 2 Pangkalan Kerinci, to determine the validity, practicalities and the effectiveness of learning modules blended learning web-based centric course moodle developed, phase disseminate is not done. Data obtained to determine the validity of the learning modules blended learning web-based centric course Moodle derived from the questionnaire validation. The data that is used to determine the practicalities of the questionnaire obtained from the practicalities of professors, teachers, and learners. Efficacy data is obtained from the output of study of the students. The results show that the development of learning modules for blended learning web-centric based on the Moodle course colloidal material in class XI mathematics specialization natural sciences by linguists very valid (90.59%) with excellent language quality, design experts very valid (89.66%) with quality excellent design, excellent media experts (91.00%) with excellent quality media, and subject matter experts very valid (91.78%) with excellent quality material. Practicalities modules for lecturers very practical to the average of all aspects of 98.67%. Results of research by implementing the module in the learning active learners showed 90.24% of the study of students with an average of 93.24 and 100% classical completeness. Abstract

This research aims to find out the increase student learning outcomes on the subject of solubility and solubility product through the application of cooperative learning type of Think-Talk-Write (TTW) of grade XI science at Senior High School 10 Pekanbaru. This type of research is experimental research with data retrieval time from the date of 18 May to 1 June 2013. The samples in this research are students of class XI IPA2 as experimental class and class XI IPA1 as control class selected after conducting test of homogeneity. Techniques of data collection in this research was to test the homogeneity as initial data on the material previously ie Salt Hydrolysis, documentation, observations, pretest and posttest as final data. Final data analysis in this research using test "t". From the calculations, t count = 4.59 at significant level of 5% obtained t table = 1.66, showing that t count≥ t table so that Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. The magnitude of the average normalized gain <N-GAIN> student learning outcomes experimental class was 0.75 which includes high category, and for the control class is 0.70 which included a middle category. Based on the results of these data analysis, it is concluded that an increase in learning outcomes on the subject of solubility and solubility product with the application of cooperative learning model type of Think-Talk-Write (TTW) of grade XI science at Senior High School 10 Pekanbaru
