Abstract

This research aimed at knowing whether there was or not a difference on student concept comprehension taught by using Guided Discovery Learning model with Structure Exercise method that was compared with taught by using Guided Discovery Learning model with Drill method on Stoichiometry.  This study was conducted in SMA Negeri 1 Tambang in academic 2018/2019. This research was a Quasi-experiment with pretest and posttest design. Purposive sampling technique was used, and it was obtained two sample classes—the tenth-grade students of class MIA 2 (experimental class one) and MIA 3 (exsperimental class two). The data of observation results and student concept comprehension were tested by using independent sample t-test.  Based on the data analysis, it was obtained -ttable ≤ tobserved ≤ +ttable (-1.68<2.24>1.68). Thus, there was a significant difference on student concept comprehension between Guided Discovery Learning model with Structure Exercise and Guided Discovery Learning model with Drill method variables on Stoichiometry material at the tenth grade of State Senior High School 1 Tambang, mean score of student concept comprehension at the tenth grade of MIA 2 was 0.74 and the score of MIA 3 was 0.66.

Abstract

Reaction rate learning requires experiments or practicum identical to the laboratory, so the implementation of the lab is highly dependent on the existence and completeness of the laboratory. Chemical concepts based on experiments, one of which is the concept of reaction rate consisting of the concept of reaction rate, factors influencing rate and reaction order. With the advancement of technology in the field of ICT, there are many programs that can be utilized to design lab work based on ICT (virtual lab). Virtual labs can resolves the limitations of laboratories, tools and materials, time and cost savings. This development research aims to find out the process of developing a virtual laboratory on reaction rate material using Adobe Flash6 Professional program until it is declared eligible to be used for Basic Chemistry II course in chemical education program. This type of research is development research. The product developed in the form of virtual laboratory using Adobe Flash6 Professional program on reaction rate material for Chemistry II course in chemistry education program. The study of virtual laboratory development on this reaction rate material using the ADDIE model. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to design and develop diagnostic test for analysis of student misconception in chemical bonding materials. Diagnostic that we develop in this study was four-tier diagnostic test. the diagnostic test consisted of 25 questions which cover 20 indicator in chemical bonding materials. From the test result obtained the higest was in a determine the bonding that consist in the compound (39,45%) and the lowest misconception was in a interpret the process in chemical bonding formation process (1,83).

Abstract

AbstractThis research was instigated by the low of students creative thinking ability at State Senior High School 1 Perhentian Raja. This research aimed at knowing the effect of implementing Guided Inquiry learning model with student workbook toward student creative thinking ability on Colloid lesson at State Senior High School 1 Perhentian Raja.  It was Quasi Experimental research.  Simple Random Sampling technique was used in this research.  The samples comprised two classes, the eleventh-grade students of Natural Science 1 that were 33 students as the Control group and the students of Natural Science 2 that were 32 studentsas the Experimental group. The techniques of collecting the data were tests in the form of homogeneity test as the preliminary data, pretest and posttest as the final data, observation, and documentation. The instrument of this research was creative thinking ability test in the form of essay with the indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The pretest and posttest data were analyzed by using t test at 5% significant level.  The research findings showed that there was a significant effect of implementing Guided Inquiry learning model with student workbook toward student creative thinking ability on Colloid lesson that t was 4.268 and the score of Sig. Abstract

Abstract This research is motivated by the low level of learning outcomes of the students of science class XI at Bernas Binsus State Senior High School Pelalawan Regency. Therefore the experiment research is conducted by pre-test and post-test scheme to discover the effect of problem based instruction learning model by virtual laboratory media toward learning outcomes of class XI students at Bernas Binsus State Senior High School Pelalawan Regency at the subject of buffer solution. The subjects of the research are the students of class XI science in the year of 2015-2016 with two classes as samples: class XI science 3 (experiment) that consists of 28 students and  class XI science 2 (control) that consists of 29 students. The research data is collected by using observation, initial data test which is homogeneitytest and final data test which are pre-test dan post-test, and documentation. To discover the effect of the implementation the learning model toward the learning outcomes, the formula of partial equilibrium (Kp) is employed. The effect differences are analyzed by t test polled varians. Analysis result of initial and final data indicates that t-counting = 2.79 and t-table = 1.67 in the significance rate of 5%. The value of t-counting > t-table that makes Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It indicates that there is a correlation of the implementation of Problem Based Instructionlearning model with virtual laboratory media toward learning outcomes of the students of class XI Bernas Binsus State Senior High School Pelalawan Regency at the subject of buffer solution, with the effect of 12.43 %.  Keywords:  Problem Based Instruction, Virtual Laboratory Media, Learning Outcome.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the extent of problem-based learning model implementation assisted instruction multimedia with the type of strategic performance problems in improving students’ problem solving skills on acidic and alkaline materials. The approach used in this research is mixed approach (mix method) with a sequential exploratory model type (model sequence of discovery). The sampling technique is done by purposive sampling. The instrument of research is in the form of observation sheet implementation of problem-based learning model both from teachers and students and also student essay test. The correlation of problem-based learning model implementation with students’ problem solving skill is sought with product moment. The implementation of problem-based learning model by teachers and students has been done according to the principle of problem-based learning model of each meeting. The implementation of problem-based learning model by students with average percentage of 88,44% and ability to solve student problem with average percentage of 69,02%. The correlation of problem-based learning model implementation assisted instruction multimedia of acid-base solution with the problem solving skill is categorized by mediocre with average of 0.43. It can be concluded that the problem-based learning model assisted instruction multimedia acid-base learning in class XI MIA 1 SMA Islam Al-Falah Kota Jambi has been implemented well by teachers and students and also the problem solving skills of students have emerged. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Multimedia, Strategic Permofance, Problem Solving, Acid and Alkaline

Abstract

AbstractThis research is based on the low outcomes of class XI students on their chemistry subject. Therefore, the experiment research by pretest and posttest to discover the effect of cooperative learning model of Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) by using Handout toward learning outcomes of State Senior High School 1 Kampar on salt hydrolysis is conducted. The subject of this research is the students of class XI Mia in 2015-2016 year by using 2 classroom samples: XI Mia 1 (exsperiment) dan XI Mia 4 (control). The data was collected by using observation, initial test (homogeneity), final test (pretest and postest), and documentation. To discover the effect of the model on learning outcomes, the formula of Kp is applied. The effect differences are analyzed by t-test sampel related. The analysis result of initial and final data is t-counting = 2.325 and t-table = 1,68 in the significant rate of 5%. The value of t-counting > t-table, therefore, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This shows that there is the effect of cooperative learning model of Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) by using handout toward learning outcomes of State Senior High School 1 Kampar on salt hydrolysis by the effect as much as 7.8%.  Key words:      Learning outcomes, model learning model of STAD, salt hydrolysis

Abstract

This research was instigated by Chemistry subject that only had concepts, it did not connect the concepts to daily life.  This research aimed at knowing designing and testing Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media on Hydrocarbon lesson and knowing the levels of validity and practicality of Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media.  It was a Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall development model.  It was administered at Islamic Integrated Senior High School of Al-Ittihad Pekanbaru.  The subjects of this research were material experts, media experts, Chemistry subject teachers, and the eleventh-grade students of Natural Science.  The object was Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media on Hydrocarbon lesson.  Media could be proper, if it was valid and practical.  Validity percentage obtained from material experts was 93.30% (very valid), validity percentage obtained from media experts was 96% (very valid), practicality percentage obtained from chemistry subject teachers was 84.60% (very practical), and 84% students responded very well to overall design of Macromedia Flash media.  Based on these results, it could be identified that Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media could be implemented in the next stage. Keywords:  Macromedia Flash Media, Problem Based Learning, Hydrocarbon

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of understanding of students on colloidal concepts in chemistry learning and the absence of chemistry student workbook based problem solving. In this study a chemistry student workbook based problem solving design was designed to support learning in colloid lesson. It was a Research and Development (R&D) method with Borg and Gall design. This research was administrated at State Senior High School 1 Salo. Subject of this research were Media design experts, Learning lesson experts, chemistry teachers and tenth student at the tweleve grade of MIPA. Object of this research were chemistry student workbook based problem solving on colloid lesson. The instruments of this research were questionnaire of validity test by the experts and questionnaire of practicality test by teacher and students. Student workbook was good if it was valid and practice aspect quality. Validity and practicality could be seen from the result of validity and practicality by using validity and practicalities sheets. The level percentage of validity was 91.5% (Very valid) and level of practicality was 87.72% (Very practice). From the identifiy result that student workbook testing was good and practice to be an additional teaching material for teachers at school.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to find out the effect of the implementation of science, technology, and society (STS) learning model by using concept maps toward students’ learning interest in Islamic Senior High School. Therefore, the study was carried out in queasy experiment design and the sample was taken through purposive sampling technique, which consists of two classes, namely XC as experiment class and XB as control one. After implementing those learning model and technique, the data was collected through questionnaire and documentation. Due to the statistic analysis, it was examined that the implementation of concept maps technique on experiment class has affected students’ interest in learning 81.45%, and it was categorized into good, in contrast, in control group it has affected students’ interest about 61.2% that was categorized into Fair. Similarity, the hypothesis testing by using Mann-Whitney test on the final questionnaire average score has revealed that the Zo (t-obtained) score was -5.74 and Z table score was -1.96 based on 5% significant standard, further, when Zo ≤-Z table, the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, there was the significant effect of science, technology, and society (STS) learning model by using concept maps technique toward students’ learning interest in Hydrocarbon class in Islamic Senior High School of Islamic Boarding School Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang for the 2015/2016 academic year.Keywords : Science, Technology, Society (STS) teaching model, concept maps techniques, students’ learning Interest, and hydrocarbon.
