Abstract

This article offers a discussion on the law on medical cannabis utilization in the health sector from the perspective of the fatwas (official statement from an Islamic religious leader) of the Indonesian Islamic Scholar Assembly (MUI) and the Tarjih Council of Muhammadiyah (Muhammadiyah Organizational Ijtihad Institution). This paper aims to provide insight into the legalization of medical cannabis in Indonesia and review the policies of other countries that have legalized cannabis for medical purposes. There needs to be a firm statement of MUI and Islamic organizations such as Muhammadiyah on this issue. This paper employed the normative research method. It used the statute approach to profoundly analyze the available legal materials. The data were sourced from secondary legal materials. The data were collected by reading, studying, and understanding the materials related to the legal issue. The data were analyzed using the qualitative technique. Research results showed the findings that the fatwas of MUI and Tarjih Council of Muhammadiyah permit the usage of medical cannabis for treatment under emergency reasons and with strict supervision from doctors. It is crucial to have a fatwa in determining the legalization of medical cannabis, considering that Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world, and up to now, there has not been a firm legal policy that regulates the use of medical cannabis. The existence of a fatwa in determining the law benefits human beings both in the world and in the Hereafter. Apart from that, it brings tranquility in resolving the issue of the Muslim community. This paper brings novelty as it provides information on how other Muslim countries view the legalization of cannabis as well as the perspectives of MUI and the Tarjih Council of Muhammadiyah on this issue.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of the internet has significantly influenced how Generation Z engages with religious knowledge and practices, raising concerns about its impact on their perspectives, attitudes, and behaviors regarding religious moderation. This study aims to examine this influence, focusing on actively enrolled students who demonstrate internet addiction and rely heavily on online platforms for religious activities. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews and observations to capture the lived experiences of these students. Findings reveal that most students spend over seven hours daily online, making the internet a primary source of academic and religious knowledge. This extensive use shapes their understanding of Islamic principles and their attitudes toward religious moderation, with online platforms perceived as convenient and reliable for accessing religious content. However, the study highlights the need for supervision and guidance to foster critical thinking and discernment, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy in promoting balanced and thoughtful religious perspectives among Generation Z in the digital era

Abstract

This research investigates the factors that will influence Muslim tourists' intentions to undertake Muslim-friendly tourism in Bali, amidst the dominant Hindu culture on the island. Specifically, this research examines the impact of Islamic attributes and destination image through tourists' emotional value on intention to engage, with halal awareness moderating this relationship. Methodologically, this quantitative research collected data from 230 Muslim tourists who had visited Bali more than once. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Smart PLS software were used for data analysis. The findings reveal that Islamic attributes and destination image will significantly increase tourists' emotional value, which in turn will positively impact their intention to engage in Muslim-friendly tourism. Halal awareness moderates this relationship, highlighting its role in shaping tourists' perceptions and experiences. These results underscore the importance of developing and promoting Muslim-friendly amenities and services in non-Islamic destinations such as Bali, providing insights for tourism stakeholders to increase the competitiveness and attractiveness of these destinations for Muslim tourists globally.

Abstract

This study aims to explain Pekanbaru City Regional Regulation No. 2 of 2023 regarding the Protection of Women and Children in order to provide protection and prevent violence against women and children within Islamic families. Islam views women and children as gifts from Almighty God, who must be protected as they possess inherent dignity, honor, and rights as human beings that must be upheld. The protection of women and children from acts of violence is intended to guarantee and protect their rights so that they can live in peace, grow and develop, and participate optimally according to human dignity and worth. This research is a library study and is also confirmed through field data using a qualitative approach and juridical sociological analysis techniques. The primary source of data is the Regional Regulation (Perda), while secondary materials include books related to Islamic Family Law. Tertiary legal materials consist of legal norms, Arabic and English dictionaries, and documents deemed important to this research. The findings show that the existence of Pekanbaru City Regional Regulation No. 2 of 2023 is a response to several issues of domestic violence experienced by women and children in households, viewed from philosophical, sociological, and juridical foundations

Abstract

This study reveals how Islamic law and human rights can be a voice of justice in challenging situations, offering exciting and relevant answers for a harmonious future of peace. The research method applied in this study is designed in an integrative and comprehensive manner to explore the relationship between the two in the context of conflict separatism. The study results show that Islamic law and human rights have similar perspectives in respecting religious plurality, avoiding discrimination, and prioritizing peace in dealing with conflict separatism. Both emphasize the importance of understanding the root causes of conflict and seeking comprehensive and sustainable solutions to achieve reconciliation and just peace. In separatism conflicts, Islamic law and human rights also emphasize the importance of social justice, solidarity, education, and accountability as integral parts of conflict management. Both perspectives view that efforts to achieve peace and reconciliation must involve all elements of society, including religious leaders, community leaders, and community organizations, in mediating and promoting peace values.  In addition, the harmony between Islamic law and human rights emphasizes the importance of understanding human rights as a universal value that must be upheld by all people, not only in the context of separatism conflicts but also in broader social and political life.

Abstract

Since the introduction of the concept of Spiritual Quotient (SQ) as a form of individual intelligence, numerous applications have been conducted to evaluate its effectiveness. SQ, which integrates reasoning, rationality, and inner intelligence, is a crucial factor in addressing and managing various phenomena. This study aims to explore the application of SQ within educational institutions, specifically within the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Studies (FUSI) at UIN Sumatera Utara (UIN SU). Employing a qualitative approach and utilizing interviews as the primary data source, this study reveals the necessity of implementing SQ in educational institutions through several mechanisms: non-political leadership, the appointment of competent individuals to campus positions, and the encouragement and motivation of students to develop their interests and talents to achieve their desired goals.

Abstract

This paper examines the importance of loving relationships between teachers and their students in the Islamic education system, as expressed by Al-Gazali. It first provides a brief overview of Al-Gazali's views of education, then focuses on his concept of love between teachers and students, and finally considers how Al-Gazali's ideas can be applied in modern education systems to create an environment of mutual respect and understanding between teachers and their students. The study employs a qualitative method and uses relevant literature, mostly historical sources from the Islamic world. The study's conclusions showed that Al-Gazali's theory of the spirit of love between educators and students offers important guidance on supporting and caring for students. By emphasizing the development of a strong love bond between the two parties, educators can foster an environment favorable to learning and growth. This advice should be heeded by contemporary educators, who should consciously work to promote a respectful and understanding teacher-student connection. The study concludes that Al-Ghazali's conception of love between instructors and students significantly adds to high-quality instruction in the twenty-first century. Finally, this essay advises modern educators and learners, urging them to infuse their interactions with love to promote the most efficient learning and understanding

Abstract

The verses of the Qur'an have two types of meaning, namely mutasyabihat (irrational) and muhkamat (rational). The matter of miracles can be classified as something mutasyabihat because the prophets show these events to show aspects of God's intervention to the unbelievers. One such phenomenon is Q.S. Al-Baqarah: 50, about the sea splitting. This miracle was given to the prophet Moses to avoid Pharaoh and his army. Commentators such as ar-Razi and Hamka confirm the verse as evidence of God's Majesty. However, it differs from Maulana Muhammad Ali's interpretation, which explains the miracle of the prophet Musa's ability to pass through the sea due to receding water. Therefore, the difference between Maulana Muhammad Ali's interpretation and other commentators raises problems, namely how irrational meanings such as the splitting of the sea are understood by Ali rationally and how the categorization of Ali's interpretation. This research is qualitative, library research that accumulates documentation data. The analysis used in this study is based on Tafsir's interpretive approach and rationality. The results of this study are Maulana Muhammad Ali provides an interpretation of the event of the splitting of the sea, and it is understood that the receding of the seawater is a rational reason so that the prophet Musa and his people could pass through the sea
