Abstract

The purpose of this research is for inventory the forms of verbal folklores in Banyumas. Banyumas known by various predicates, one of which is the uniqueness of the language and culture. Banyumas dialect called ngapak language that are characteristic of the Banyumas. There is a typical expression of the living Banyumas although not as strong as Banyumas dialect, proverbs form of expression is “ora ilok”. The are more folklore, the origin of which Baturaden. This is a form of local wisdom in Banyumas verbal folklore. Method used in this research is ethnography method. The result of analysis said that Ngapak banyumas or dialects used in every day communication among people in Banyumas informal situations. As for the phrase “ora ilok” inBanyumas is a tradition that should be preserved because it contains the teachings of morality. Folklore about the origin Baturaden now a tourist spot as one of nature's assets in Banyumas district area.

Abstract

In a psycholinguistic study, children at the age of 3-5 years old are considered at a differentiation period. In this period, children have already acquired their mother tongue, in terms of adult’s basic grammatical laws. The language which function as a means of communication starts working. Their vocabularies are quantitatively and qualitatively growing as their perceptions and experiences upon the world start to share with others including their expressions of feelings, in this case, their hillarious expression disclosure. However, in this period, children have not completely acquired adults’ linguistic structures. Thus, it is that estimated there are some differences between children’s hilarious expression structural dislosure and adults’. In addition, hilarious expression structural incompleteness may result in adults’ error perceptions on what the children mean. Based on data analysis, it is shown that children at the age of 3-5 years old have already aquired various linguistic aspects on hilarious expressions, including phonological, morphological, and syntactical aspects. one factor encouraging children to show their hilarious expressions is achievement, such as when accepted as a friend, given a gift/surprise, finding something, and feeling capable of doing something.

Abstract

This research tried to reveal how the dynamics of contradiction between tradition and modernity in Lombok and how Lombok’s poet Imam Safwan, through a collection of poems of Langit Seperti Cangkang Telur Bebek (LSCTB) addressed the issue of tradition and modernity. The purpose of this study is to reveal the forms of conflict between modernity and tradition in Lombok dan view the poet’s attitude toward the conflict. The theory and analysis method of the binary opposition of Yuri Lotman’s semiotic were used to dismantle the structure and ideology of Imam Safwan’s poems. This study found that the problems of tradition and modernity in Lombok was found in the poems of Imam Safwan. Coping with this problem, Imam Safwan’s poems show ambivalence that the evaluation of two semiosphere (tradition and modernity) was conducted in turn. In a poem, Imam evaluated tradition from the point of view of modernity but in other poetry, Imam evaluated modernity from the point of view of tradition. This ambivalent attitude shows that Imam occupies the border of the semiosphere or the liminal space ini which tradition and modernity seek to be negotiated.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan fungsi cerita rakyat bagi masyarakat di Kabupaten Banyumas. Artikel ini merupakan kualitatif deskriptif. Dalam artikel ini informasi dideskripsikan secara teliti dan analisis. Data Makalah dikumpulkan melalui beberapa sumber yaitu, informan, tempat benda-benda fisik, dan dokumen. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi observasi langsung, perekaman, wawancara dan analisis dokumen. Teknik cuplikan (sampling) yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Teknik validasi data yang digunakan adalah triangulasi data/sumber dan triangulasi metode. Teknik validasi data yang digunakan adalah review informan. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis model interaktif (interactive model of analysis). Cerita rakyat Kabupaten Banyumas yang dihimpun dan dianalisis dalam Makalah ini berjumlah tiga, yaitu (1) cerita rakyat “Babad Ajibarang: Djaka Mruyung”, (2) cerita rakyat “Babad Sokaraja: Raden Kuncung”, dan(3) cerita rakyat “Batu Raden”. Pengkajian cerita rakyat yang di dalamnya termuat cerita rakyat (folk literature) memiliki fungsi antara lain: (1) sebagai sistem proyeksi (projective system), (2) sebagai alat pengesahan pranata- pranata dan lembaga-lembaga kebudayaan, (3) sebagai alat pendidik anak (pedagogical device) (4) sebagai alat pemeriksa dan pengawas agar norma-norma masyarakat akan selalu dipatuhi anggota kolektifnya. Keempat fungsi inilah yang ditemukan dalam kajian ini.

Abstract

This study discussed about an evaluation of textbook analysis entitled “Cambridge English Idiom in Used Advanced” written by written by Felicity O’Dell and Michael McCarthy. In this study, the textbook was analyzed using rubric of textbook evaluation in term of layout and design, activities, language type, materials, subject and content. From the discussion, it can be concluded that the book is suitable for advanced learner in term of the composition, given example, exercises and context.

Abstract

Departing from the reality that the students' competence in academic writing was considered in low level, this study was conducted. In fact students really need that competence since the academic writing competence is required for academic communication. Therefore, the peer direct method is applied in the learning process as an altrernative to improve that condirion. The subjects in this study were 28 students of Academic Writing class of D3 English Diploma Program Faculty of Culture Jenderal Soedirman University. Qualitative Method was applied in the study with case study design. To maintain the validity and realibility of the data, three data collection methods consisting of interview, observation, and questionnaire was conducted. The result of the analysis revealed that peer direct feedback improved students' competence in academic writing. Furthermore, it also improved student ivolvement and classroom activities in the teaching learning process.

Abstract

This research explains a sociological reading about Oscar Wilde. This action aims to develop an analysis of the author’s life with some considerations which support his work in literary world. In addition this research also aims to construct a valid sociological reading. The sociological reading will be done by using the concept of sociological approach by Pierre Bourdieu. According to his statement, the concept of cultural arena brings the new light in sociology where the sociological phenonenon is no longer the only main consideration. In expanding the approach, Bourdieu adds agen and structure as the new tools. In this writing, almost all Oscar Wilde’s literary works use social critic as the main theme. Historically speaking, this thing is closely related to the era of Victoria age. This history enrich Wilde’s works in the field of literary world.

Abstract

Setelah proklamasi kemerdekaan Indonesia, ternyata tidak serta-merta membuat Indonesia terbebas dari bentuk kolonialisme. Hal tersebut, digambarkan dalam pusi berjudul Sajak Pulau Bali karya W.S Rendra. Melalui pendekatan teori postcolonial, maka dapat dilihat puisi Sajak Pulau Bali menggambarkan bagaimana ruang pariwisata Bali dan bagaimana bentuk kolonialisme yang terjadi pada industri pariwisata Bali. Adapun metode yang digunakan adalah metode studi pustaka. Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa space Bali kemudian dijadikan place industri pariwisata. Sebagai tempat pariwisata maka setiap yang ada di Bali dijadikan komoditi yang memiliki nilai jual. Selain itu, ternyata industri pariwisata justru membuat Bali mengalami bentuk penjajahan. Keterlibatan negaranegara kaya dengan modal yang ditanamkannya pada industri ini, membuat masyarakat pribumi kalah bersaing dan hanya menjadi budak, penyalur, dan pemakai. Keadaan ini, memperlihatkan bahwa pascakolonial, Indonesia masih harus terus berjuang untuk mewujudkan kemerdekaannya.
