Abstract

The increasing number of hotels has a significant impact on spatial development in the Yogyakarta Urban Area (YUA). The concentrated distribution of hotels in urban areas triggers spatial changes and encourages land conversion. On the other hand, the development of many hotels can put pressure on environmental resources. This study aims to analyze the spatial pattern of hotels in the YUA. Quantitative analysis techniques are used with primary and secondary data sources by collecting secondary data and conducting field observations. The approach used is a spatial-temporal approach by interpreting images and overlay techniques obtained multitemporally with a time span of 5 (five) years from 2018 to 2022. The population in this study includes all hotels in YUA, including starred and non-starred hotels. The analytical methods used are nearest-neighbor analysis (NNA) and Density Kernel. The results of this study indicate that the distribution pattern of hotels in YUA in 2018 & 2022 is clustered, and the direction of hotel development in the YUA is to the northeast or towards Depok District. It can be concluded that hotel distribution not only reflects tourism development but also contributes to spatial transformation by reorienting spatial functions and driving urban expansion.

Abstract

Rapid regional development in Central Bengkulu Regency has driven changes in land use that may be misaligned with environmental carrying capacity and the directives of the Regional Spatial Planning (RTRW). This study aims to assess the existing land use in Central Bengkulu Regency based on the Land Potential Index (LPI) and its conformity with the applicable RTRW. The study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing secondary data comprising spatial data on land physical characteristics and land use. Analysis was conducted using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through scoring and overlay methods. The results indicate that areas with medium and high LPI classes dominate Central Bengkulu Regency, covering 50.250% and 24.271% of the area, respectively. Land use is primarily composed of similar gardens (71.283%), shrub forests (12.773%), and large plantations (8.251%). Overall, land use is considered reasonably aligned with land potential. In terms of conformity with the RTRW, approximately 69.957% of land use is classified as suitable, while the remainder is partially suitable, unsuitable, or unidentified. The study’s implications provide an evaluative basis for more sustainable land-use planning and management in Central Bengkulu Regency. The research recommends controlling land conversion in low-LPI areas, strengthening land rehabilitation in areas that do not conform to the RTRW, and enhancing GIS-based land-use monitoring systems. This approach is expected to improve policy consistency in spatial planning, prevent land-use conflicts, and promote sustainable and resilient regional development in Central Bengkulu Regency.

Abstract

The high risk of earthquakes and tsunamis in Bengkulu City has not been matched by adequate literacy and preparedness among high school students. Conventional learning materials are considered uninteresting and ineffective in instilling practical skills, creating a gap between knowledge and preparedness. This study aims to (1) design and develop disaster mitigation teaching materials in the form of contextual web games, (2) test the validity and practicality of the product, and (3) evaluate its effectiveness in increasing students' knowledge and motivation to learn. This development research uses the 4D model 4D (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate). The test subjects consisted of experts (in materials, media, and learning), 3 teachers, and 35 11th grade high school students in Bengkulu City. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, knowledge tests (pre-test/post-test), and the Game Experience Questionnaire (GEQ). The expert validation results showed that the product obtained an average score of 4.42 (scale of 5) in terms of material, media, and graphics, with a category of “highly valid”. Teacher and student responses to practicality reached 89% and 87% with a category of “very practical.” The effectiveness test results showed a significant increase in knowledge (N-Gain 0.71, high category) and student learning motivation (GEQ score 3.9/5) in the immersive and positively challenging categories. The conclusion of this study is that the web-based game teaching material developed has met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving knowledge and learning motivation in disaster mitigation. The implication is that this product can be recommended as an innovative learning medium to support the Disaster Preparedness School program in disaster-prone areas. Abstract

The Quality Family Village Program (Kampung KB) is a government strategy to improve family well-being by strengthening population development, family planning and family development. However, the implementation of this program in Papua still faces challenges regarding social acceptance due to the strong influence of cultural values, traditional social structures and community perceptions of family planning programs. This study aims to examine the local values and wisdom of the Papuan community that can be integrated into the implementation of the Kampung KB Program in Skouw Yambe Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with informants selected through purposive sampling, including representatives of the “3-Tungku” (customary leaders, religious leaders and village government officials) and the “2-Peran” (women and youth). Data were collected through in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), then analyzed through data reduction, categorization and interpretation. The research findings indicate that integrating local values and wisdom can strengthen the implementation of the Kampung KB Program through three main mechanisms, namely: (1) a communication approach based on local philosophy through the traditions of eating betel nut and papeda as symbols of togetherness and social collaboration; (2) aligning the structure of the Kampung KB Working Groups (Pokja) with existing customary institutions to enhance legitimacy and a sense of community ownership; and (3) utilizing betel nut platforms and customary platforms as venues for socialization and participatory decision-making. These findings indicate that the integration of local wisdom can increase community participation, strengthen social acceptance and support the sustainable implementation of the Kampung KB Program in Papua through a development approach that is contextual and adaptive to the community’s sociocultural characteristics.

Abstract

Agriculture contributes 13% to Indonesia's national GDP and supports the livelihoods of 30 million people. In Central Lombok Regency, with 57,355.19 ha of rice fields, the agricultural contribution declined from 26.18% to 25.07% of the GRDP in 2022. This study aims to analyze the dynamics and spatial distribution of drought in Central Lombok's agricultural areas through the use of vegetation indices derived from Landsat multispectral imagery. The methodology includes calculation of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Vegetation Condition Index (VCI), Land Surface Temperature (LST), Temperature Condition Index (TCI), and Vegetation Health Index (VHI), validated with rainfall data and spatially analyzed through overlay with rice field type maps. Results indicate extreme drought covering 1,170.56 ha, severe drought 8,375.51 ha, and moderate drought 34,459.80 ha based on VHI analysis. Rainfed rice fields were found to be the most vulnerable, with extreme drought affecting 370.93 ha, severe drought 2,668.35 ha, and moderate drought 11,210.25 ha, while irrigated rice fields were more resilient, dominating the non-drought category with 38,255.27 ha. These findings provide a basis for developing drought vulnerability maps, mitigation planning, and irrigation management to enhance agricultural resilience in Central Lombok Regency.
