Abstract

A convert is someone who experiences a leap in religious experience, from being a non-Muslim to converting to Islam and becoming a Muslim. This definition of a convert demonstrates that a convert is not someone who has been educated in Islamic religion and spirituality since childhood. Therefore, an increased understanding of Islamic law and worship, particularly reading and writing the Quran, is also necessary. One of the roles of the Tegal Regency Muallaf House (Rumah Muallaf) in meeting these needs is the role of the House of Muallaf (Rumah Muallaf). However, the programs developed by the House of Muallaf have not always been technically smooth. This is due to the congregation's scattered domiciles, the diversity of professions held by the congregation, the inconsistent enthusiasm of the congregation, and the varying levels of understanding of sharia and worship, as well as the diversity of skills in reading the holy book, the Quran. Community service activities carried out by IAT students aim to understand the situation, reconcile with reality, find a compromise to address challenges, and provide solutions to the problems faced by converts. Developing a practical guidebook for worship and improving Quran reading skills for converts in Tegal Regency is a solution desired by converts. Through the implementation of the ABCD method, with its five steps, the management and members of the Rumah Muallaf community have identified sufficient internal assets to be utilized to realize this practical guidebook for worship.

Abstract

Lombok is an island in eastern Indonesia known for its rich culture and religious diversity. Historically, Lombok has been influenced by various cultural and religious influences, initially being part of the Karangasem kingdom in Bali, with a predominantly Hindu population. However, with the spread of Islam in the region, cultural and religious acculturation has resulted in a unique blend within the community, particularly evident in conversion marriages between Muslims and Hindus in the Lingsar and Narmada districts of West Lombok. This study uses a qualitative approach to gather detailed information on the dynamics of conversion marriages in the Lingsar and Narmada districts. Data were collected through interviews with several informants, social observations, and relevant literature. This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the social, legal, and cultural aspects of these marriages from the perspectives of Islamic and Hindu law and social change. This study highlights the complexity of changes in interfaith marriages, which are influenced by factors such as love, tolerance, family influence, and cultural considerations. This study examines the perspectives of Islamic and Hindu law on these marriages and the social changes in the community, which reflect different views and practices. Islamic law allows conversion marriages to Islam under certain conditions, while Hindu law allows conversion marriages to Hinduism and strictly prohibits marriages with non-Hindus, emphasizing the importance of upholding dharma. This study also investigates societal responses, identifying positive and negative perceptions that shape the acceptance or rejection of such marriages, reflecting broader social changes in society.

Abstract

In Islamic jurisprudence, there is a difference of opinion among scholars regarding the permissibility of selling breast milk (ASI). The Maliki and Shafi'i schools of thought allow it, while Abu Hanifah forbids it. The scholars who permit the sale argue that breast milk is pure and lawful to consume, so there is no prohibition against selling it. They liken it to the milk of animals, which is generally permissible to sell. On the other hand, Abu Hanifah prohibits the sale of breast milk based on the argument that babies require it, and its sale could lead to exploitation. He reasons that, just as human flesh is forbidden to eat, breast milk should be treated similarly, as it is intrinsically linked to the human body. His stance is based on the analogy (qiyas) that, since human flesh is haram (forbidden) to consume, anything associated with the human body, such as breast milk, should also be considered haram to sell.

Abstract

This article discusses how the concept of Insan Kamil is perceived in contemporary Sufism. The fundamental principle of Sufism is Tawhid, and if Tawhid is lost from a believer, the essence of the human heart will change, causing them to fall from the dignity of humanity. In other words, the concept of wahdat al-wujūd is a direct consequence of Tawhid, which subsequently gives rise to the concept of insān kāmil. To analyze this discussion, the author employs an analytical-descriptive method, ultimately concluding that in the thoughts of contemporary Sufis, both from Persia, such as Ayatollah Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Hasan Zadeh Amuli, as well as contemporary Sufis in Indonesia like Abah Guru Sekumpul and Emha Ainun Nadjib, there is a commonality regarding the Divine Essence of Allah Swt, which is beyond the understanding of past or future, transcends time and space, and has no representation of the Divine Essence. Insan Kamil is viewed as the locus of the manifestation of all the most perfect names of Allah Swt. According to them, all the characteristics of Insan Kamil are manifested in the person of the Prophet Muhammad Pbuh. Therefore, anyone wishing to achieve a spiritual station of Insan Kamil should emulate the Messenger of Allah in all dimensions of his life.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze Islamic stocks as an alternative investment that aligns with Sharia principles in the Indonesian capital market. The primary focus of the study is to understand the mechanism of Islamic stock investments, the legal foundations supporting them, as well as the challenges and opportunities for their development. Given the increasing interest in Sharia-compliant investments, this research also seeks to provide a deeper understanding of the contribution of Islamic stocks to the Indonesian economy and the importance of financial literacy in the community. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature review, which includes analyzing primary sources such as the Qur'an, Hadith, and relevant literature on Sharia investments and the capital market. Additionally, this research examines the regulations governing the Islamic capital market in Indonesia, including the screening process for Sharia-compliant stocks by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The findings show that although the Islamic stock market in Indonesia has grown significantly, there are still major challenges regarding the lack of public understanding of the mechanisms and legal foundations of Islamic stocks. The strict screening process ensures that listed stocks comply with Sharia principles. The study also highlights the need for more comprehensive education and outreach regarding Islamic stocks to increase public participation in the Sharia-compliant capital market. This research is expected to provide insights for investors, regulators, and market participants in developing the Islamic capital market in Indonesia and enhancing financial literacy within the community.

Abstract

This study focuses on the financial system and zakat in the Umayyad era from the perspective of Islamic economic thought. This study will include an analysis of the banking system applied. This study uses a literature review method to examine the financial and tax systems in the Umayyad era from the perspective of Islamic economic thought. The focus of this study lies in the use of currency, banking system, types of taxes and how they are managed. Data will be collected through relevant literature, such as books on the history of the Umayyad government, works of Islamic historians and economists, and primary sources such as historical documents and official documents of the Umayyad government. The results of this study are that the financial and zakat systems during the Umayyad era had advantages in terms of infrastructure development, good cash management, and structured banking regulations. However, there are weaknesses, such as limited regulations, many violations, and error limits. Therefore, public financial management at that time still needed improvement and refinement to increase efficiency and equity. These principles are still relevant in modern financial and tax management. Therefore, the concept of Islamic economics during the Umayyad era can be used as a valuable reference for fair and transparent financial and tax management, as well as ensuring equal distribution of income and opportunities for all members of society. These principles are still relevant today and can be a reference in the development of modern Islamic economics. Thus, the Umayyad era shows that Islamic economic principles can function well if implemented in accordance with the principles of justice, transparency, and efficiency.
