Abstract

Callus of Cannabis sativa has been successfully induced from C. sativa explants and seedings. It seems that flowers are the best explant for callus induction and induction under light also give better results than induction in dark. Four cell culture lines were established from flower induced callus. Phytochemical profiles of C. sativa suspension cell cultures were investigated using HPLC and 1H-NMR. Cannabinoids and phenolic compounds related to cannabinoids such as flavonoids could not be found in the cell suspension cultures and there is no major chemical difference between the cell lines though they can visually be distinguished by their colors. Only in one cell line some aromatic compounds in the water/methanol extract could be observed in the 1H-NMR. Further investigations showed that none of these compounds are flavonoids. It seems that lack of cannabinoids in the cell cultures is related to lack of polyketide synthase activity.

Abstract

The isolation of 1,3,8- trihydroxy-2(1'-pentanol)-6-methoxy anthraquinone from acetone extract of lichen thallus of Ramalina javanica Nyl. was carried out. Its structure was determined based on spectroscopic evidences.

Abstract

Terminology of metal nanoparticles, the uniqueness properties in terms of the surface atom, the quantum dot, and the magnetism are described. The further elaboration was on the synthesis of nanoparticles. Applications of metal nanoparticles in electronic, ceramic medical and catalysis were overviewed. The bibliography includes 81 references with 99% are journal articles.

Abstract

β-Carboline and its derivatives are significant due to their pharmacological importance. The synthesis of indolo[3,2-c]quinolines as a benzo analog of β-carboline has been carried out via an oxime ether intermediate. Reaction of 2'-glyoxylic ester with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in the presence of sodium acetate afforded the oxime acetate in 82%. It was then treated with natrium and fluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene in ethanol to give an orange solid of oxime ether acetate which is in subsequent treatment with a base yielded a pale yellow solid of indolo[3,2-c]carboline in 43%.

Abstract

Two stilbene derivatives namely lunularin and oxyresveratrol were isolated from Morus macroura Miq. (Moraceae), a rare spesies found in West Sumatera and endemic to Indonesia. The structure of all these compounds were elucidated based on physical and spectroscopic data.

Abstract

Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC), a compound made made of eceng gondok has been implied for its characteristic by a constructive wet system, with media such as methanol, propanol and water. Four consecutive phases involving alkalization, carboxymethylization, neutralization and drainage were used in the making process of CMC. The first two process were prepared by reacting NaOH and ClCH2COONa with NaOH 22; 32.5; 39.2; 45.9 g and 20; 26; 32; 38 g ClCH2COONa respectively. Added acetic acid was used in the neutralization process, whilst drainage only involved heating in the oven. The overall result for each characteristic substitution degree, acidity; viscosity; contens of water consentration of NaCl and purity 0.4 - 0.85, 6.10 - 8.49, 3 - 10 cP, 3.57 - 19.4 %, 12.9 - 22.4 % and 77.96 - 87.09 % respectively. Based on the obtained characteristic, could be concluded that CMC is considered as a technical quality and can also be used as filler constituent in adhesive.

Abstract

Activity test and regeneration of NiMo/active natural zeolite catalyst for hydrocracking of waste plastic fraction of polyprophylene (PP) type have been carried out. The catalysts was prepared by loading Mo followed by Ni Metals onto the natural zeolite (Z) sample, then calcined at 500oC, oxidized and reduced at 400oC under nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen stream, respectively. The characterization of catalysts including spesific surface area, average pore radius, and total pore volume were performed by gas sorption analyzer, amount of total acid sites was determined by gas sorption method, and acid site strength was confirmed by IR spectroscopy. The hydrocracking process was carried out in a semi-flow reactor system at 360 oC and catalyst:feed ratio 0.5 under hydrogen stream (150 mL/hour). The feed was vaporized from the pyrolisis reactor into the hydrocracking reactor. A liquid product was collected and analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS). The characterization results showed that spesific surface area, average pore radius, and total pore volume of the Z sample decreased after loading of the Ni and Mo metals. Amount of total acid sites of the NiMo/Z catalyst was higher than that of the Z sample. The activity of NiMo/Z catalyst decreased after several continously runs. Its regeneration produced the NiMo/Z reg catalyst with similar activity and selectivity to the fresh catalyst (NiMo/Z). The activity of catalysts at the optimum condition followed the order of NiMo/Z reg>NiMo/Z>Z (conversion of hydrocarbon C>12) and NiMo/Z reg>NiMo/Z>Z (total yield of gasoline fraction). The selectivity of catalysts for C7-C8 product followed the order of Z>NiMo/Z>NiMo/Z reg.

Abstract

Monitoring of hydrolysis and condensation polymerization reactions of tetramethylorthosilicate-organosiloxane have been carried out. Proton transfer from the excited state of 8-hydroxy-1,3,6-pyrenetrisulfonic acid trisodium salt (pyranine) to surrounding water molecules was used as a sensitive fluorescence method for following the kinetics of water consumption during the early stages of the sol-gel polymerisation process. Changes in water/silane ratio, type of organosiloxane, mol ratio of organosiloxane to silica precursor and pH affected markedly the kinetic behavior of the hydrolysis and condensation reaction of tetramethylorthosilicate.

Abstract

he synthesis of two stable platinum(IV) complexes containing methoxo ligand, [Pt(CH3)2(OCH3)(OH)py2] (1) and fac-[Pt(CH3)2(OCH3)(H2O)3] (2), has been successfully performed. Complex 1 was prepared by oxidative addition reaction of cis-[Pt(CH3)2py2] with dry methanol, and a subsequent reaction of 1 with 70 % HClO4 in water produced the platinum complex 2. The stability of complex 2 in acidic aqueous solution was investigated and monitored with 1H and 195Pt NMR. The platinum complex 2 was found to be quite stable toward hydrolysis and no -hydride elimination was observed.

Abstract

Poly(styrene/divinylbenzene) (PS/DVB) monolithic disk was prepared by in situ free-radical copolymerization of styrene and divinylbenzene in the presence of decanol and tetrahydrofuran as porogens. PS/DVB monolithic disks were produced in two different lengths 1.5 mm and 3 mm. The disks were used in reversed phase chromatography of proteins with 0.2 % trifuoroacetic acid (TFA) and 0.2 % TFA in acetonitrile as mobile phase A and B, respectively. The effect of gradient rate, flow rate, temperature and disk length on the separation of proteins were also studied. PS/DVB monolithic disks allow the rapid separation of proteins in reversed phase chromatography.
