Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using snake and ladder learning media towards students’ learning outcomes. This study used an experimental research method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research was conducted 34 fourth grade students from SDN Katulampa 1 Bogor in odd semester of 2020/2021 academic year. The analysis technique used is the analysis prerequisite test which includes the normality and homogeneity test. The research hypothess is carried out using the t-test. The results of experiment 1 showed that the scores of students’ learning outcomes increased from an average pretest score of 50.00 to 80.00 of posttests with N-Gain 60.00. While, the experiment 2 with the effect of using snake and ladder learning media resulted in an average pretest score of 53.43, posttest of 85.29, and N-Gain 68. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the use of snake and ladder learning media towards elementary school students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study was directed to develop a learning technique, to analyze the obstacles faced by teachers in implementing the lesson, and to overcome the problems faced by teachers in enhancing elementary students’ reading and writing comprehension. In order to fulfill the mentioned goals, this study tried to use scramble-based learning technique. It was cconducted at SDN Gentra Masekdas 1, Kecamatan Tarogong Kaler involving 32 first grade students. A pilot study was conducted on 9 March 2017 for about 35 minutes. The first cycle started on 18 April 2017, while the second one was on 24 April 2017. It was found that there was an increasing trend after the implementation. The analysis proccess generated data as followed: during pilot study, eight students succeeded to reach the standard indicator with percentage of 25%. Cycle I generated 15 students with learning completion percentage of 46.8.%. And, during second cycle, there were 27 students who succeeded in reaching completion standard with completion percentage of 84.3%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of a math picture book (MPB) on the properties of 2-D shapes designed for primary students, and to find out how it can stimulate primary students' understanding about the properties of 2-D shapes. The method used in this research is design research based on Plomp’s development model. The development research was carried out from designing MPB, validating with two experts, and testing with primary students in two stages, namely one-to-one and small group experiments. Based on experts’ reviews, the designed MPB met very valid criteria, and the students and teachers also provided positive responses to the quality of designed MPBs. From experimenting it to six primary students in the experiment, it shows that students could explain the properties of 2-D shapes after reading the MPB. Therefore, the developed MPB had a positive impact on students’ understand the properties of 2-D shapes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine sixth grade students’ misconception on the solar system. This study uses a sampling technique with a total sample of 88 students. This research uses the descriptive quantitative method. This research aims to describe the misconceptions on the material of the solar system in class 6 of public elementary school in Pekanbaru, data collection techniques using the Four Tier Test. The results showed that students' misconceptions were categorized as "medium" with an average of 47.58% of 88 students. The highest misconception on material related to the characteristics of stars with a misconception level of 67.61% with this level can be said that there are still many students who are investigated experiencing misconceptions. The lowest misconception is 27.27%, which is material about the sun as the center of the solar system.

Abstract

Learning media is a tool or intermediary that facilitates teaching and learning process and communication between teachers and students. This research is development research that aims to produce a diorama learning media about the rice field ecosystem food chain that is effective, practical and fun. The subjects of this study were 47 fourth graders from a public elementary school in Donowarih, East Java. This study concludes that the use of media in the learning process have impacts on teachers, students and the learning process in the classroom. In designing learning media, several steps must be considered, namely; media must be designed as simple as possible so that students are clear and easy to understand, media must be designed according to the subjects taught, media design is not too complicated and confuse children, the design of the media should use simple and easily available materials, but should not reduce the meaning and function of the media itself, and media can be designed in the form of models, pictures, structured charts, etc, but the materials are cheap and easy to get, so the teacher will have no trouble designing problematic media. Further researchers can use and develop this research and examine more sources and references.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop teaching materials using the discovery learning model to improve thematic learning outcomes in elementary schools. This research aims to develop thematic teaching materials based on the discovery learning model for fourth grade students of elementary school and to describe the feasibility of thematic teaching materials products based on the discovery learning model. This type of research is research and development (R&D). The development model used is the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implementation and Evaluate) model. The results of research on thematic teaching materials based on discovery learning are from the results of assessments carried out by media experts, material experts and students' responses during field trials. The results of the validation show that the overall score is 3.7 so that it is included in the "very good" category and the overall eligibility percentage is 93% so that it is included in the "very appropriate" category. Based on the above explanation, it can be concluded that the thematic teaching materials are based on discovery learning are suitable for learning for fourth grade students of elementary school.

Abstract

Professional noticing allows teachers to recognise important events in a classroom and give effective responses using their knowledge. Hence developing this competence in teacher training programs is an issue in the Mathematics Education field. In this study, we present the design of a learning environment about the part-whole meaning of fraction to develop pre-service primary school teachers’ noticing of students’ mathematical thinking. The learning environment is designed around three tasks (vignettes) that pre-service teachers have to analyse using knowledge from research on mathematics education provided as a students’ hypothetical learning trajectory. Eighty-five pre-service teachers participated in this learning environment. Results allows us to characterise the enhancement of pre-service teacher noticing through looking at the changes in the discourse generated in the three tasks.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the readiness to implement e-learning in school, parents, and students at SD UMP, seen from the readiness of human resources, finance, and technology skills. The research method used is qualitative research with descriptive method. Participants in this study included a principal, 15 teachers, and 32 students, and the data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. This study shows that principals and teachers are ready for implementing e-learning from the side resources, finance, and technological skill.  However, students and their parents have unprepared for it. They need more time to adapt the e-learning and the allocation their expenditure to it.
