Abstract

The role of the school as a child care service has made it easier for children to get care and education in preschool time and also the support services for families. This study aimed to determine the importance of the schools’ role as a child care and support services for families. The method of this study was content analysis with a research library approach. Data were collected through documentation of primary and secondary data sources. The results showed that the school readiness was a major factor that must be considered, a concept stating that children's experiences before entering kindergarten had enormous implications for development and determined their success at school. The school readiness was related to the minimum level of a child’s development to achieve the school demands through cognitive, social, and emotional qualities. Besides, tervice developers tended to involve all parties and resources into one school to seek the effectiveness and feasibility of these services. The schools should work together to build relationships between parents and educators as well as between educators within the school. Providing good quality child care was a reason to start child care services, to help schools develop and maintain good quality services.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the ability of teachers to carry out learning activities from home during the Covid-19 pandemic through the monitoring from the principal at SDN 1 Purwasari, Kecamatan Cicurug, Kabupaten Sukabumi. The subjects in this study were teachers of SDN 1 Purwasari, Kecamatan Cicurug, Kabupaten Sukabumi. This research utilized school action research using 2 cycles of action. The results of classroom action research indicated that the implementation of principal monitoring was effective in improving  teachers’ ability to carry out learning activities from home during the Covid-19 pandemic. In cycle I, the teacher's activities in carrying out learning activities were classified as good with a score of 80.21, but there were still aspects that needed to be improved, especially in the use of media and teaching aids. Meanwhile, in cycle II there was an increase in teachers’ activity to 92.36 with the very good category. In conclusion, the implementation of principal monitoring was effective in increasing the teachers’ ability to carry out learning activities from home in during the Covid-19 pandemic so that it could develop an effective learning process at SDN 1 Purwasari, Kecamatan Cicurug, Kabupaten Sukabumi.

Abstract

Religious character education embedded in elementary school-aged children in Desa Kragan was still found to be low, such as the low motivation of the children to recite the Al-Qur’an and the lack of children’s politeness. This research aimed to describe the impartment of religious character education as well as inhibiting and supporting factors in the impartment of religious character education in elementary school – aged children through religious activities in the Bajigur House, Desa Kragan, Kabupaten Rembang. The research was conducted in Desa Kragan, Kecamatan Kragan, Kabupaten Rembang. This research utilized descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study were elementary school – aged children ranged from 7 to 11 years old. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and field notes. Then, the data were analyzed through the following steps: data reduction, data display, and coclusions. Tthe validity of the data were examined by using triangulation. The results of this research confirmed that the religius character in elementary school – aged childern was imparted through religious activities in the Bajigur House, including the practice of the congregation fardhu prayer, BTA activites, and reciting sholawat and yasin. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors found in this research were that students still needed guidance due to their various background. Other factors were the lack of supervision from teacher and perents due to the lack of awareness of the value of religious character, and the lack of enthusiasm for children in participating in these activities due to the social factors of students both at school and at home. At last, the supporting factors included getting support from parents and the surrouding community as well as adequate facilities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve learning outcomes in Indonesian through contextual teaching and learning model. This study was classroom action research conducted at SD 002 Sungai Salak involving 17 students. The results of this study showed that the teachers’ activity in meeting I of Cycle I was scored 53.57% with Good category. In meeting II of Cycle I, it increased to 71.43. Then, the score of teachers’ activit from meeting III to meeting IV increased by 3.57%. In addition, the score of students’ activity in meeting I of Cycle I was 50.00% with sufficient category. Then, in meeting II of Cycle I, it increased to 60.71%. In meeting II of Cycle II, the score of students’ activity was 75.00% with Good category, and in meeting IV of Cycle II, the score of students’ activity was 78.57% with Very Good category. Then, the students’ activities increased by 3.57% in meeting III and meeting IV. The students’ learning outcomes on Bahasa Indonesia increased after learning through Contextual Teaching and Learning model. The results of the test showed that the total score of of daily test was 1240 with the class average of 72.94 in which 11 students reached the target score while  6 students did not reach the target score. Meanwhile, the total score in Cycle II was 1420 with an average of 83.53 in which 15 students reached the target score and 2 students did not reach the tearget score.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve students' reading comprehension ability through DRA strategy. This study was conducted by using classroom action research at grade I involving 28 students. The results of this study revealed that during the observation in Cycle I meeting I, teachers’ activities was in low category with a score of 10 or 50.00%. Then, the score increased to 12 or 60.00% in meeting II Cycle I with sufficient category. Moreover, in Cycle II meeting I, the score of teacher's activity increased to 15 or 75.00% with good category, and in meeting II, again it increased 17 or 85.00% with very good category. In addition, this study also found that the students’ reading comprehension ability before implementing DRA strategy was 39.29 with incomplete category. After implementing DRA strategy, the average score of classical completeness increased to 50 with incomplete category. After conducting the reflection on learning in cycle I, the results of students’ completeness reached 79 with complete category even though it was not in accordance with the high target of improvement.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ learning outcomes through the media of Sunda Manda game. This study was Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on Kemmis and Mc. Taggart which included two cycles. Each cycle consisted of three meetings with four stages namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. This study was conducted at grade IV elementary school involving 37 students as the research subjects. Data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation. Then, the analysis of the data of this research was conducted by using interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The result of this study showed an increase in students’ learning outcomes. Findings revealed that in Cycle I, 26 students reached the target score with an average of  72.76 (70.27%) for social science and 25 students reached the target schore with an average of 73.49 (67.57%) for Bahasa Indonesia.. Then, in Cycle II, 34 students reached the target with an average of 80.21 (91. 89%) for social science, and 32 students reached  the target with an average of 79,51 (86,49%) for Bahasa Indonesia. Furthermore, the average score of the learning outcomes for the affective aspect in Cycle I was 74.38 (61.98%) and it increased to 96 (80.00%) in Cycle II. In addition, the learning outcomes for skills in Cycle I was 51.76 (61.62%) and it increased to 66.84 (79.57%) in cycle II. This research implied that the innovation of media like Sunda Manda traditional game improved the learning outcomes of students at grade IV elementary school. Thus, it was concluded that there was an increase in the students’ learning outcomes through the media of Sunda Manda traditional game.

Abstract

The problem in this research was that PGMI students at UMSB found it difficult to understand Mathematics learning for MI. It was observed that the students did not participate actively  and think creatively. This was indicated by the low participation in learning. This research objective was to improve the ability to understand mathematics learning at PGMI with Discovery Learning model. This research utilized qualitative and quantitative research methods with a type of Classroom Action Research. The research was conducted in 2 cycles for 2 meetings in each cycle. Data were collectedthrough pretest, posttest, observation, and interviews related to the learning process  before and after implementing discovry learning model. The results of pretest revealed that 45% of students thought quite creatively while 50% of students thought less creatively, and only 5% of students thought  very creatively. The first meeting in Cycle I was conducted through online discovery learning model with Zoom application and it was seen that 12.5% of students had a very high activeness level, 25% of students had high level of activeness, and 62.5% of students had moderate activeness. Then, the percentage of creative thinking was 67% and for less creative thinking was 25%, while 8% of students think very creatively. In Cycle II it was found that the level of students’ activeness increased to 17% for very high activeness; 67% of students had high level of activeness, and 16% of students had moderate activeness. Then, it was also found that 80% of students thought creatively and 20% of them thought very creatively. The increase in the average score and the average percentage of completeness indicated that the implementation of discovery learning model improved PGMI students’ understanding about  mathematics learning for MI

Abstract

The pandemic happened around the world has brought a major impact on the hfield of ealth and economy, as well as education. The government closed crowded places, offices, and schools. The school closures resulted in children in a situation called Stay At Home. The purpose of this research was to find out the efforts of parents and teachers in maintaining children's learning motivation at home, and the role of traditional games to increase children's learning motivation in facing Stay–At–Home situations. This research utilized a phenomenological approach with descriptive qualitative research. This research involved parents, teachers, and elementary school students in Solok. After approximately eight months, the schools as the research objects were closed so that students and teachers conducted learning from home. As a result, teachers, assisted by the guidance of parents, were demanded to create an active and creative atmosphere in teaching in order that students did not feel bored and learning objectives were achieved. One  of the efforts was to encourage the children to play around the house so that the child did not feel bored. Traditional games were an effective alternative to minimaze the influence of gadgets.

Abstract

This research was aimed to find out the significant effect of Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy on reading comprehension of the second year students at SMK Dar El Hikmah Pekanbaru. This research was Pre-experimental with one group Pre-test Post-test design. The population of this research was the second year students of SMK Dar El Hikmah Pekanbaru. All of the population were taken as the samples selected by using total sampling technique. This research administered a reading test consisting of 40 multiple-choice items in the pre-test and post-test. The mean score in pre-test was 60.15  while the mean score in post-test was 74.97. To determine the difference between pre-test and post-test, this research used t-test formula. After analyzing the data, it was found that the t-test score was 8.782 meaning that it was higher than t-table (2034). From the result of data analysis, it was concluded that the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) of this research was accepted. Thus, Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy significantly improved the reading comprehension of the second year students at SMK Dar El Hikmah Pekanbaru. Based on these findings, it was recommended that Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy was effective on improving the students’ reading comprehension, particularly in narrative text.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the achievement of the pedagogical competence of group II elementary school teachers in Kecamatan Batang Peranap, Indragiri Hulu. This study involved 59 elementary school teachers and utilized descriptive quantitative method. To collect the data, the researchers utilized a questionnaire consisting of 40 positive and negative statements. Then, the data obtained were analyzed by using descriptive statistical techniques. The results of the study showed that the pedagogical ability of group II elementary school teachers in Kecamatan Batang Peranap, Indragiri Hulu was classified as high with an achievement percentage of 85.37%.
