English for Vocational School is a key to bridging non-English major students’ needs including Informatics Engineering students of a private university in South Tangerang, Indonesia. Accordingly, it is important to conduct a needs-analysis study as a way to find the source of information to designing proper English materials. To actualize it, a set of questionnaire was distributed to 35 students of Informatics Engineering Study Program to investigate their necessities, lacks, and desire in learning English for vocational purpose. The data were analysed quantitatively to figure out majority choices to each item questioned. Semi-structured interview to both the lecturers and the students were also conducted to explore reasons for each finding. The result showed that the students were expected to be proficient at using English for daily communication which will be useful for their future working-community because most of the students thought that they were not fluent yet and found difficulties especially in grammar mastery. Accordingly, they expected that instructional process be directed to learning English related to Informatics Engineering without ignoring daily communication topics. These overall findings are a milestone to designing a set of English learning materials for the third semester students of Informatics Engineering Students of the university.

The use of learning strategies is one of the factors that can develop potential and improve student’s learning outcomes. A learning activity will succeed if a teacher is able to apply the right approach, model, method, and learning media. Inquiry model is one of the learning models that can improve the ability to plan and carry out research to solve a problem. However, in fact, the results of preliminary studies show some teachers still have not used the inquiry model in their lesson plans, even though Basic Competence (KD) that can use the inquiry model is relatively there. This study aims to implement the academic supervision to improve the ability of high school teachers in making inquiry-based lesson plan that refers to Permendikbud No. 22, 2016. The research method used was school action research. The results showed that after academic supervision was carried out, the ability of teachers in making inquiry-based lesson plans that referred to Permendikbud Number 22 of 2016 had shown an increase, from cycle I to cycle II. Cycle II ended the formation with the minimum teacher score indicator 75.00 already above 85%, which was 100%.

This research was conducted by using a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The quantitative approach was chosen to be tested theories by examining and measuring variables in the form of relationships, differences, influences, contributions, and the others. The research was carried out by describing the students acquisition data on the new student admission (PPDB) using zoning system based on the academic year 2019–2020 and the student acquisition data on the academic year PPDB 2018–2019 as a comparison. Based on the results of the study, the new students of PPDB using zoning system was considered lower in terms of economic and educational background of parents. There were more parents with less education (elementary & junior high school) in the zoning system than in the rayon system, whereas parents with higher education in the zoning system were fewer than the rayon system. Likewise, in terms of income, there were more people with low income in the zoning system than in the rayon system, and those having high income were fewer than in the rayon system. The study showed that the intelligence and the result of National Examination Score (NUN) in the zoning system is lower than in the rayon system. The intelligent level of the students in the zoning system is mostly dominated by the scores under 90–109, while in the rayon system were dominated by the scores above 90–109. The National Examination Scores (NUN) in the zoning system were evenly distributed from a range of scores 0 to 30, while in the rayon system the scores were dominated by a range of scores 28–30, with the lowest score 24.

The background of this research is an instrument of learning for reading comprehension which in general is still dominated by an instrument in the form of print out which makes the students’ interest to read is reduced. In addition, this instrument is usually done manually or handwritten so that the students’ work must be corrected manually and require some time to get the results. This study aims to develop instruments or measuring devices for reading comprehension in the Primary School in Pekanbaru and find out the feasibility of measuring devices for reading comprehension skills. This product is Macromedia Flash 8 based namely "MaCaMi" which stands for Mari Membaca dan Memahami. The research method used was the 4D model with four stages, such as the define stage, the design phase, the develop phase, and the dessiminate stage which is limited to the third stage. The data of this study were obtained from product design expert validation questionnaire, questionnaire validated by linguists, teacher response questionnaire and students response questionnaire. The data were generated quantitatively and analyzed by using the assessment criteria to determine the product quality. The results of this study showed the assessment of product design experts in draft 1 had an average percentage of 69.61% with the appropriate category then had increased in draft 2 to 90.56% with the very feasible category. The results of the feasibility test by linguists in draft 1 had average percentage of 95.30% with the very feasible category then increased in draft 2 to 97.20% with the very feasible category. The results of the teacher's response to the reading comprehension measuring instrument in the Primary School in Pekanbaru developed by researchers obtained an average percentage of 93.50% with a very good category and the results of students' responses to the measuring instrument obtained an average percentage of 89.90% with a category very good. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the product developed by researchers is feasible to be used as a measure of reading comprehension ability of primary school students.

The background of the research is the low assessment of high order thinking skills of students due to the conventional methods used by the school. The aims of this study are: (1) how student learning activities when using hybrid learning Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) and jigsaw, (2) how student learning activities when taught using the direct learning model, and (3) the effect of hybrid learning Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) and jigsaw towards high order thinking skills. This study used a quasi experimental nonequivalent control group design with the sample of 50 students from a population of vocational high school students in Ponorogo. Data collection techniques used instruments in the form of high order tests and non-test instruments in the form of observation sheets. Data analysis used was independent sample t-test. The results showed: (1) the use of Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) based on hybrid learning and jigsaw made 28% of students were very active, 28% of students active, and 44% of students quite active in the learning process, this was evidenced by an average value of 70.56, (2) the use of direct learning models in learning made 24% of students quite active, 36% of students less active, and 40% of students passive in the learning process, which can be seen from the acquisition of an average value of 51.52, and (3) there was a significant effect of Student Learning Achievement Division (STAD) based on hybrid learning and jigsaw on students' high order thinking skills.

The use of learning module aimed to help students study independently without or with the guidance of the lecturer. This module was made due to the lack of teaching materials as a learning guide that meets the needs of students in ICT-based Mathematics learning courses in the form of LKM, modules, or textbooks. This study aimed to find out and examine more in students' responses to the use of ICT-based Mathematics learning modules. This type of research was case study research. The subject of the study was the 2018/2019 even semester students in ICT-based Mathematics learning courses with 23 students. The instrument used was in the form of a student response questionnaire, comment sheets, and suggestions. Data collection techniques used Google Form. The data was processed using Microsoft Excel 2010. The results showed that students' responses to the ICT-based Mathematics learning module as a whole were positive with an average value in the material aspects, the module interest aspects, and in the module aspects respectively by 92.43%, 87%, and 93.16%. Thus, it can be concluded that the ICT-based Mathematics learning module can be implemented.
