Abstract

Phytochemical test and toxicity in ethanol extract, ethyl acetate fraction and residual ethanol fraction of ajeran leaves (Bidens pilosa L.) has been done. The method used to determine secondary metabolites is clualitative test and the value of Lethal Concentration (LC50) with the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Phytochemical test results showed that the ethanol extract and ethyl acetate fraction contained flavonoid, steroid and phenol compound. Residual ethanol fraction contained flavonoid and phenol compound. Toxicity test showed ethanol extract had LC50 value of 862.19 ppm. Ethyl acetate fraction has LC50 value of 8.26 ppm. Residual ethanol fraction had LC50 value of 275.24 ppm. The results of the toxicity test can be concluded that the ethyl acetate fraction very toxic category, ethanol extract and residual ethanol fraction included toxic category. The results that obtained from GC-MS characterization were steroid

Abstract

The test of amylase inhibition activity of the leaves of Melicope lunu-ankenda and bark of Melicope glabra (BI.) T.G. Hartley extracts were done. The objective of this study was to determine in-vitro α-amylase inhibition activity against two samples by DNS method. The result showed that two samples of Melicope lunu-ankenda leaves and bark of Melicope glabra (BI.) TG Hartley displayed the enzyme inhibitory effect with percent inhibitions of 48.71% and 46.36%. Two sample extracts can inhibit amylase. It can be suggested that about sample were potential as antidiabetic agents.

Abstract

Research on the adsorption of cadmium metal ions (Cd2+) using activated adsorbent from Kepok banana peel powder (Musa paradisiaca L.) has been carried out. Determination of the functional groups contained in the adsorbent used Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) instruments indicate the presence of O-H, C-O and N-H groups. Characterization of pores in the adsorbent using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) instruments that show the occurence of pore and cavity enlargement on the surface of the adsorbent, as well as the appearance of finer topography after the activation process. The result of this study indicate that the adsorbent of Kepok banana peel powder can absorb cadmium metal ions (Cd2+) with the best absorption occurs at optimum conditions pH 5, 60 minutes contact time and a concentration of 1.5 ppm. The adsorption capacity of the adsorbent of Kepok banana peel powder at the optimum conditions is 0.04991 mg/g.

Abstract

Phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity test using DPPH method of Kluwih seed (Artocarpus camansi Blanco) have been done. Maceration of Kluwih seed was carried out using methanol. The phytochemical test showed A. camansi contains secondary metabolites including alkaloids, phenolics, flavonoids and steroids. Based on the result of the antioxidant test using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method, the result exhibited that the crude extract had an IC50 value of 63.63 ppm.

Abstract

Phytochemical test and antibacterial activity of methanol extract of Melicope lunu-ankenda (Gaertn.) T.G. Hartley have been done. The extraction of Melicope lunu-ankenda (Gaertn.) T.G. Hartley stem sample was carried out by the maceration method using methanol as a solvent. An antibacterial activity test was carried out using the agar diffusion method. Phytochemical tests results showed that methanol extract of Melicope lunu-ankenda (Gaertn.) T.G. Hartley stem has secondary metabolites including alkaloids, steroids, triterpenoids, and quinones. The antibacterial activity test results obtained MIC values for Salmonella typhi bacteria of 1.25% and for Staphylococcus aureus bacteria of 0.625%. Methanol extract of Melicope lunu-ankenda (Gaertn.) T.G. Hartley stem has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.

Abstract

Determining the parameters of the quality of well water in Mugirejo, Sungai Pinang, Samarinda, using an adsorption filter from rice husk ash, has been carried out. Determination of the optimum flow rate and the level of each water quality parameter BOD, TSS and levels of metals (Pb, Fe, Mn). Based on the results of the filtration process in well water samples showed that the effect of the flow rate obtained the optimum flow rate of 1 hour per liter against decreasing levels of BOD, TSS and levels of metals (Pb, Fe and Mn) of 8.1, 17.28 mg/L O2, 1.4 mg/L, 68 mg/L, ND (No Detection), 0.0012 µg/mL and 0 µg/mL. For the flow rate of ½ hour per liter against decreases in BOD, TSS and levels of metals (Pb, Fe and Mn) respectively at 8.0, 30.52 mg/L O2, 2.01 mg/L, 46 mg/L, 0 µg/mL, 0.0109 µg/mL and 0.021 µg/mL.

Abstract

Endophytic bacteria are bacteria that live in plant tissues. These bacteria produce extracellular enzymes, one of which is the lipase. This research was conducted to isolate the endophytic bacteria of Ginseng Jawa (Talinum triangulare (Jacq.) Willd) leaves which produced lipase and lipase screening from these bacteria. Isolation was carried out on nutrient agar (NA) media and screening of endophytic bacteria were carried out on nutrient agar (NA) media containing olive oil and Rhodamin B. Isolation results obtained by 5 single colonies and one colony of positive endophytic bacteria that produces lipase which characterized by the presence of orange-colored luminescence on the surface of the bacterial colony
