Abstract

Endophytic bacteria are bacteria that live in plant tissues such as the roots, leaves, and stems of plants. This research was conducted to screen lipase-producing endophytic bacteria from Pacing stem (Costus speciosus (J.Koenig) Sm.) and determine the optimum working conditions. Screening of lipase-producing bacteria on nutrient agar media containing olive oil and Rhodamine B showed that one isolate was able to produce lipase. The crude lipase extract produced from endophytic bacteria worked optimally at a pH of 7, the temperature of 40℃, and a substrate concentration of 2%. Abstract

Acute respiratory infection (ARI) is one of the main causes of patient visits (40%–60%) in public health centers from year to year and is always on the list of the 10 most diseases each year in health facilities, such as health centers. Populations susceptible to ARI are children less than two years old who have health problems such as malnutrition, have a history of low birth weight (LBW), do not get exclusive breastfeeding. The aim of this research is to find out the relationship between LBW, nutritional status and exclusive breastfeeding with ARI in infants aged 6–23 months in Karang Asam Public Health Center in 2018. This research is quantitative research with a design cross-sectional. The study was conducted on 87 samples, namely toddlers aged 6–23 months who visited and registered at Karang Asam Public Health Center. The sample was taken by accidental sampling. Bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test showed a significant correlation between nutritional status and ARI in infants aged 6–23 months (0.026) and between exclusive breastfeeding and ARI in infants aged 6–23 months (0.005). Whereas there was no association between LBW and ARI in infants aged 6–23 months at Karang Asam Public Health Center in 2018 (0.078). It can be concluded that there are significant relationships between nutritional status and exclusive breastfeeding with ARI in infants aged 6–23 months. In contrast to LBW, there is no association between LBW and ARI in infants aged 6–23 months in Karang Asam Public Health Center in 2018

Abstract

Endophytic bacteria found in plant tissues can produce enzymes, one of which is lipase. The purpose of this study was to screening endophytic bacteria from the leaves of Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) which produced lipases. The method used in this study is screening with media nutrient agar (NA) containing Rhodamine B and olive oil. The results showed that 4 of bacterial isolates (D1, D2, D3 and D4) from 14 endophytic bacterial isolates had lipase activity. The crude lipase extract was quantitatively tested for lipase activity by the titrimetry method. The highest lipase activity was shown by isolates with a D1 code of 1.50 U/mL.

Abstract

Synthesis of ethylenediamide surfactant from coffee bean oil methyl ester (Coffea arabica. L) through an amidation reaction. The synthesis process that has been carried out includes extraction, esterification and amidation of coffee bean oil content by soxhletation of 15.47% with acid number 3.15 mg KOH/g and ALB 1.58%. Coffee bean oil is converted to methyl ester through esterification and acid number is 1.50 mg KOH/g ALB level drops to 0.75% saponification number of 57.11 mg KOH / g. The most dominant composition of the coffee bean oil methyl ester based on GC-MS analysis was 48.0% methyl oleate. The FT-IR spectrum of methyl ester gives a specific absorption peak C = O ester at wave number 1745 cm-1. Methyl esters are converted to ethylenediamide through an amidation process. The resulting ethylenediamide has an acid number of 9.1 mg KOH/g and a saponification number of 3.39 mg KOH/g. The FT-IR spectrum provides specific absorption peaks for groups C=O at wave number 1639 cm1 and C-N at wave number 3302 cm-1. Ethylenediamide HLB values are practically 12.5495 which includes oil in water (O/W) emulsifier surfactants.

Abstract

A study on photodegradation activity of Rhodamine B by WO3/TiO2/SiO2 composites in various material weight condition has been conducted. The photocatalytic process was carried out in a closed reactor equipped with visible lamps (grow LED 10 watt). To identify crystal structure, morphology and composition of composite WO3/TiO2/SiO2, the characterization performed using Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Diffraction-X (SEM-EDX). The results of characterization using SEM-EDX showed that composites have a non-uniform pore morphology. The photocatalytic test showed the optimum material weight at 0.15 gram with percent degradation of Rhodamine B dyes of 85.10%.
