Abstract

Flavonoid compound had been isolated and characterized on fraction ethyl acetate of Macaranga hullettii King ex Hook.f leaves. The separation process in fraction ethyl acetate was performed using vacuum and gravity column chromatography with a gradient polarity method. The isolate was characterized as MH-1 flavonoid compound in the yellow crystals and 0.0432 g. Analysis of MH-1 with spectrophotometer UV showed two peaks at λ 268.46 (band II) and 340 nm (band I). Analysis of MH-1 with spectrophotometer IR showed OH functional groups, C-O-C, C=O, aliphatic C-H, aromatic C-H, and aromatic C=C. The MH-1 is assumed to be a flavonoid.

Abstract

Antibacterial activity of methanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate and residue of methanol of rambai (Baccaurea motleyana Mull. Arg.) leaves have been done. The extraction process with maceration of the rambai (B. motleyana Mull. Arg.) leaves using a methanol solvent, then proceed with fractionation using the liquid-liquid partition method to obtain the n-hexane, ethyl acetate and residual methanol fractions. Based on the results of phytochemical screening of secondary metabolites contained in the total methanol extract contains triterpenoid, steroid, phenolic and flavonoid compounds. The n-hexane fraction contains flavonoid and steroid compounds, whereas the ethyl acetate contains flavonoid and phenolic, and residual methanol fractions contains flavonoid, phenolic and triterpenoid compounds. Based on the results of the antibacterial activity test on the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes and Escherichia coli, the values of methanol extract, ethyl acetate fraction and the residue of methanol fraction of the leaves B. motleyana Mull. Arg. for Propionibacterium acnes has a MIC value of 4% and Escherichia coli bacteria at 8%. From the results of the antibacterial activity test it can be concluded that the methanol extract, ethyl acetate and residue of methanol fraction have antibacterial activity against the Propionibacterium acnes KCCM 41747 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922.

Abstract

Adsorbent silica from rice husk ash supported by chitosan can be used to adsorb Mn (Total) metal. The adsorbent is regulated by adjusting the composition of 65% silica and 35% chitosan. The characteristics of the silica-chitosan adsorbent and the adsorbent interaction with Mn (Total) are believed to be based on Fourier Transform Infared (FTIR) data. The concentration of Mn (Total) ion after adsorption is determined by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results showed optimum pH at pH 5 percentage adsorption 79.45% and optimum contact time at 60 minutes with adsorption percentage 96.78%, and obtained chitosan-silica adsorption capacity of Mn (Total) ions of 1.0349 mg/g.

Abstract

Abstract

Phytochemical test and antibacterial activity of methanol extract of Mentawa leaf (Articarpus anisophyllus Mig.) have been done. The extraction of Mentawa leaf samples was carried out by the maceration method using methanol as a solvent. An antibacterial activity test was carried out using the agar diffusion method. Phytochemical tests results show that methanol extract of Mentawa leaf has secondary metabolites of flavonoid, steroid, triterpenoid, phenolic, and quinone compounds. The antibacterial activity test results obtained MIC values for Salmonella typhi bacteria were 1.25-2.5%, Streptococcus mutans bacteria were 0-0,625%, Streptococcus sobrinus bacteria were 1.25-2.5% and for Propionibacterium acnes bacteria were 0.625-1.25%. Methanol extract of Mentawa leaf has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.

Abstract

Test of activated carbon adsorption ability of banana stem waste (Musa paradisiaca L) on xylene has been carried out. In the characterization of activated carbon Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was used to show the morphological differences in activated carbon after activation and before activation while xylene adsorption using a UV spectrophotometer with variations in the time of adsorption. The optimum xylene adsorption time was obtained on the weight of 0.4 gram adsorbent, the concentration of xylene 40 ppm was 45 minutes, the adsorption capacity was 1.772 mg/g.

Abstract

Research of ethanol made from suweg tuber flour (Amorphophallus camapanulatus BI.) with the addition of NPK as nutrition Saccharomyces cerevisiae, has been done. The ethanol making process consists of hydrolysis, fermentation, distillation, and testing carried out by Gas Chromatography. The hydrolysis stage is carried out by adding α-amylase and glucosyl amylase in order to break the polysaccharide chain into monosaccharide. The fermentation stage is carried out with time variation and NPK concentration. It can be seen that the addition of nutrients of 3.70 g (2%) NPK with a 7 day fermentation time resulted in the most optimum ethanol concentration of 67.357% and an ethanol volume of 7 mL.

Abstract

Research on the correlation of Pb metal ion levels to protein content in crush clams (Gafrarium tumidium) taken at the coast of the East Kalimantan Rhino Estuary has been conducted. This study aims to determine the levels of Pb metal ions and protein levels in blood clams based on the size and location of different samples. Correlation of Pb metal ion levels and protein in blood clams was tested using the Least Square method and Pearson product moment. Analysis of Pb metal ion levels using SSA (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer) and protein content analysis using the Kjeldahl method. In this study, the Pb metal ion level was obtained at the public port of Tanjung Limau, PPI Tanjung Limau and beach Lallo Sekangat with an average of 0.7474 mg/L, 0.5513 mg/L, and 0.2804 mg/L respectively. Crush clam protein content at Tanjung Limau, PPI Tanjung Limau and beach Lallo Sekangat with an average of 19.6544%, 14.6902%, and 10.9135% respectively. The correlation of Pb metal levels to protein levels in crush clams (Gafrarium tumidium) was stated positively with coefficient correlation results was strong (r = 0.7910).
