Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is caused by developments and changing times, which impacts moral crises and promiscuity in adolescents and deviates from religious values. By applying the moral development contained in Luqman verses 12–19, efforts are urgently needed to minimize juvenile delinquency. This study aims to explain how the relevance of moral education in Surah Luqman verses 12–19 is an effort to minimize juvenile delinquency. Based on a literature study and descriptive-analytic method, the novelty in this study is the relevance of moral education in Luqman verses 12–19, which is very relevant to today's youth morals so that efforts to minimize juvenile delinquency according to child psychology depend on the character of the child and the background of the problem so that it is carried out by giving children a good understanding of religion, spending time with parents, giving positive advice to children, getting along with peers, and being able to control themselves well. By implementing these efforts, we can minimize juvenile delinquency today.

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the misconception of religious moderation in the theological discourse of the cross in the Qur'an by using the interpretations of Quraish Shihab and Wahbah az-Zuhaily in QS. An-Nisa' verse 157. This verse is considered an accusation against the death of Jesus, and the Jews consider crucifixion as a form of humiliation that Jesus had to experience as a social disturbance. This study aims to analyze the interpretation of Quraish Shihab and Wahbah az-Zuhaily about the theology of the cross in QS. An-Nisā' verse 157 and the exclusive values in their interpretation. This article is a literature review using the thematic method and a critical analysis approach to its interpretation. This study found that the interpretation of this two mufassir did not contain moderation values in their content, giving rise to an exclusive attitude in their interpretation. Meanwhile, this diversity in diversity is a challenge as well as a problem that must have a solution.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of the creation of the universe from the Islamic view through the interpretation of Ibn Katsir and the Christian view through the Bible. This study uses qualitative research methods. Based on Ibn Katsir's view, the universe's creation consists of several processes. Firstly, Allah created the earth in two days, then created the sky in the next two days, then spread out the earth in the last two days. In the last process, Allah brings out water, plants, mountains, sand, inanimate objects, hills, and everything between the sky and the earth. According to the Bible, the process of creating the universe also consists of six days. Day and night were created on the first day. On the second day, the sky was created. On the third day, the earth was created. The stars and sun were created on the fourth day. On the fifth day, creatures in the water and the sky were created. All kinds of animals were created on the sixth day, and humans were created on the last. The seventh day is God's rest/rest day. Thus, it can be concluded that there are similarities and differences between Islam and Christianity in the concept of the creation of the universe.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal various kinds of human behavior towards their properties and the ideal management of this property from the perspective of the Quran. This research also attempts to link the knowledge of the Quranic maqasid with the financial management carried out by humans to improve their contradictive behavior. By using qualitative methods with inductive descriptive approaches and various sources such as the Quran and its interpretations, journals, magazines, and classical literature, this research found that owning wealth does not contradict the concepts of zuhud and piety. The al-Quran displays human behaviors who manage their wealth well and make their wealth as a ware towards God. Multiple discourses about wealth in the Quran showed that the behavior of adoring wealth is natural and matches the Quranic nature, which adapted to human nature. The treasure and wealth itself belong to God, which humans naturally revere. Humans have different behavior when dealing with wealth. First, worldly behavior is not fair. Second, the behavior of miserly and miserly. Third, moderate behavior that has intelligent management in managing assets. Differences in human behavior in managing these assets are usually determined by their social environment.

Abstract

Kafir in the Qur'an is not always associated with non-Muslim meanings. The meaning of Kafir in the Khawarij has various meanings. The Khawarij are followers of Ali bin Abi Talib who left the ranks due to disagreements with Ali, who accepted arbitration. Muhammad bin Yûsuf bin Îsâ bin Shâlih Ithfisiy is a khawarij figure who translated infidels in the book Hamyân al-Zâd ilâ Dâr al-Ma'âd. The method used in this research is qualitative and library-based research using the descriptive-analytical method, namely describing the book's object of study and then continuing to analyze the book. The purpose of this writing is to find out how Muhammad bin Yusuf al-Itfisiy views the deception of the meaning of kufr in his book. The results of this study are that Muhammad bin Yûsuf bin Îsâ bin Shâlih Ithfisy is not always kufr as kufr i'tiqad, which makes the perpetrators fight in hell. Muhammad bin Yûsuf bin Îsâ bin Shâlih Ithfisy divided what is meant by kufr as; 1) Lying in the name of Allah, 2) Not making revelation a law, 3) Apostasy, 4) Shirk, 5) Fighting the Believers.

Abstract

The relationship between revelation and Prophethood is the essence of the Qur'an studies, but this theme has yet to receive serious attention from the Qur'an and commentary studies. This article reviews the concept of revelation and prophecy from a critical perspective. As a holy book considered sacred, the Qur'an faces rational challenges that need to be responded to scientifically. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach. The researcher collects various literature related to the research theme, then analyzes it critically. The research findings show that the attitude of faith that believes in the truth of the Qur'an without being accompanied by scientific arguments does not make the sacredness of the Qur'an properly treated because every dimension of belief requires the support of scientific argumentation in the context of an increasingly advanced civilization. As a sacred text, The Qur'an must be reviewed critically to provide a scientific dimension, especially regarding the relationship between prophecy and revelation. The existence of the Prophet as the bearer of revelation has received challenges from some communities because humanity has difficulty balancing its physical and spiritual dimensions. Humans, as physical and spiritual beings, need a scientific and rational perspective in caring for faith, especially regarding the relationship between prophecy and revelation, which is part of the Islamic discourse that has taken place throughout the history of Muslim civilization.

Abstract

The Qur'an does not discuss tajassus specifically. It is proven by the lack of the word tajassus, especially when it is based on the meaning of spying. Implicitly, the value of tajassus is found in several stories and verses collectively, which leads to fault-finding or vigilance. A particular verse about tajassus with a negative connotation is Surah al-Ḥujurāt12. An example of tajassus with a positive sense is Surah Yūsuf 87. The research in this paper is classified as literature research with a qualitative approach. The methodology used is a descriptive analysis study. The results of this study are two: First, there are two types of tajassus: tajassus in the positive sense and negative tajassus. Positive tajassus is the importance of the existence of intelligence for the state. Negative tajassus is prejudice or finding fault in others. Second, the implementation of tajassus is similar between classical and modern times, the only difference being the use of technology at different times. The tajassus deviation in this study occurred when Umār entered the house without permission. While in modern tajassus is the use of wiretapping devices outside the authority of the perpetrators.

Abstract

Tik Tok has been considered as an attention grabbing alternative social media platform for the millennial generation as a way to convey and receive religious messages, especially Quranic messages. The use of TikTok as a new medium has also given birth to the current trend of learning the Qur’an. This study attempts to explain the impact of Quranic content on Tiktok on Quran learning. In the academic realm, this research seeks to contribute to discussions on the study of the Qur’an in its relation to social media. Using Ahmad Rafiq’s reception theory of the Qur’an and Gary R. Bunt’s theory of cyber Islamic environments, this qualitative research concludes the following points; first, the Quranic-related contents on TikTok comprise of several typologies, such as; quotes, interpretations, completing Quranic verses, tajwid, tahsin, qira’ah or recitations, lectures, news, stories, daily practices, murattal, rasm or manuscripts, the virtues of Quranic verses, memorization, guessing surahs, tips, and duets. Second, at the beginning of 2020, during the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, there had been an increased use of TikTok among people from various circles, ranging from the general public, celebrities, businessmen, preachers and others. Some preachers had been using TikTok as one of the learning media for the millennial generation. Third, TikTok had enabled creators of Quranic-related content to convey Quranic messages through Quranic content videos to be responded by netizens in the comments column. In this context, they started to turn to TikTok for religious advice and to answer some of their religious questions.

Abstract

Polygamy is an issue discussed and constantly studied, especially by understanding the Surah An-Nisa verse 3, where the textual meaning of polygamy opens up a wide opportunity for acts of violence to be experienced by wives, both psychologically and non-psychological. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the contextual meaning of polygamy by using Hans George Gadamer's hermeneutical approach, which is rich in contextual studies. The author employed a library research method with descriptions and interpretations to produce a consistent and comprehensive understanding. Through Gadamer's hermeneutical approach, the authors found that women in polygamous marriages do not mean that they are weak and deserve harsh treatment. Instead, they need to be protected and raised their dignity so that polygamy only applies to widows and orphans who cannot afford it.

Abstract

The development of modern Qur’anic interpretation in Indonesia has been characterized by the emergence of thematic exegesis. In this case, chapter 30 of the Qur’an has drawn much attention, among them is Tafsir Al-Qur’an Juz 30 written by Zaini Dahlan. This work is quite interesting as it is written by an academic Muslim scholar, pedagogical in nature, and having attention much on poetical language of the Qur’an. By using the epistemological framework and theories of Qur’anic interpretation, this article aims to find the source, method, style, validity, and orientation of Zaini Dahlan’s interpretation. The article, then, argues that one of Zaini Dahlan’s contributions to the discourse of Indonesian Qur’anic studies lies on his attention to the poetic structure of the Qur’an which directed to strengthen theological and pedagogical aspects. In his epistemological structure, Dahlan uses various sources of knowledge most notably from the Qur’an, hadith, history, and scholars’ interpretation, which are generally coupled with the dominance of reason (bi al-ra’y) over narrations (bi al-ma’thur). In addition, Dahlan also applied the thematic method of surahs which is framed by the poetic nuances of the Qur’an. As for the measure of truth, Dahlan seems to apply three theories of validity, namely coherence, correspondence, and pragmatics.
