Abstract

Spatial orientation ability is an important aspect in the cognitive development of early childhood because it supports children's understanding in recognizing position, distance, direction and relationships between objects. However, in the field, children's spatial orientation ability has not developed optimally due to the limited use of interactive and concrete learning media. This study was conducted to analyze and assess the impact of the use of diorama media on the spatial orientation ability of children aged 5-6 years who are in TK IT Annisa Uswatun Hasanah. This study used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design without a control group through a one group pretest-posttest design model. The research sample consisted of 30 children aged 5-6 years who were selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through observation and tests. The results showed an increase in the average score of spatial orientation ability of 30.27 from pretest to posttest. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.001). These results indicate an increase in spatial orientation skills after the application of diorama media. These findings demonstrate that using dioramas has a significant impact on children's spatial orientation skills. Therefore, dioramas have the potential to be an effective learning medium to support the development of spatial orientation skills in early childhood.
