Abstract

Street children are often constructed as weak individuals who miss out on a pleasant childhood because they have to work and do not have the same opportunities as most of their peers. In addition, street children are often considered to have insufficient understanding of science or gender issues due to their limited access to knowledge and experience. Using a post-developmentalism approach, this article seeks to go beyond the existing idea of play by exploring how street children in Jakarta, Indonesia. The urgency of this study is to try to dismantle the perceptions that have been understood by the community regarding street children regarding the concept of gender and negotiating play with work as part of their daily lives. So this study is important to provide attention and in-depth understanding that street children have the same and equal opportunities. The author took a qualitative approach to collect data on 7 street children and their guardians, mainly through observation and ongoing conversations. The results of this study found four findings, namely street children's interpretations of boys and girls, children's tendencies towards play, color preferences and social influences of street children, and perceptions of professions and gender. The conclusion is that street children have the same frequency regarding the meaning of gender in their daily activities, such as understanding the differences between women and men, understanding color choices and how street children view professions.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the use of contextual-based e-comics through marine thematic learning in early childhood marine. Through this research, the problem will be solved by using e-comic learning media integrated into marine thematic learning for children aged 5-6 years at PAUD Bhayangkari Ternate City. The research uses a mixed method. While the design used to develop teaching materials is the 4-D model design, the development stages used are the development stages of Thiagarajan, Semmel & Semmel (1974) which include four development stages namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. The data that has been collected using the instruments above is then analyzed quantitatively and directed to explain the validity of the comic media developed. Data from the validation of experts were analyzed by considering input, comments, and suggestions from validators. The results of the analysis were used as guidelines for revising the developed learning media. The data analysis methods used in this development research are the qualitative descriptive analysis method and the quantitative descriptive method. This method is used to process data from the results of linguists, learning media experts, and individual and small-group trial experts. To be able to support the learning process at PAUD Bhayangkari, the e-comic media goes through the expert validation test stage (media experts, linguists, PAUD material experts) as well as product trials (small group tests) where all three experts give very good or valid assessments and student responses as subjects classified as very good. From media experts, the percentage of validity obtained is 89.2, from users with a percentage of 98.33, linguists the percentage achieved is 100. From this analysis, as foundational years for cognitive and social development, early childhood education plays a pivotal role in shaping future learning experiences. Integrating engaging and relevant materials, such as e-comics, can enhance children's interest and understanding of marine themes.

Abstract

The learning problems in early childhood in Indonesia that are currently faced are increasingly complex, not only from the pedagogical side of teachers but also faced with low mathematical literacy learning outcomes. Therefore, in early childhood learning, it is necessary to design a cooperative model with ICT media that can answer the challenges of the needs of the times. The purpose study is to measure the influence of cooperative learning with the help of ICT media on the improvement of mathematical literacy skills in children. This study is a quasi-experimental research with treatment by level 2x2 factorial Nonequivalence Posttest-Only Control Design, using mixed methods such as interviews and observations. Based on intensive processes and observations, the findings of this study show that the cooperative model with ICT media affects children's mathematical literacy skills. This is proven by the results of the ANAVA test obtained Fcount = 7.437 < Ftable = 161 and a significance value of 0.008 < 0.05, then it is concluded that there is a difference in the results and the results of the t-test show the acquisition of a score tcount = 23.662 with df = 87, so that ttable = 1.98761, tcount  ttable With the results of 23,662 > 1.9796, the literacy ability of children who were given the cooperative model treatment was higher than that of the group who were taught with the conventional learning model.

Abstract

Self-confidence is essential for a child's development and should be fostered from an early age. It is an attitude of certainty in one's abilities and pride in one's accomplishments. Nurturing self-confidence in early childhood is crucial for their future development. This study explores how wall climbing activities can promote self-confidence in young children. Wall climbing is a physical activity, sometimes considered an extreme sport, that involves scaling an artificial wall with artificial rock formations serving as handholds and footholds. Participating in wall climbing offers numerous benefits for young children, including building self-confidence. This qualitative study employed observation, interviews, and documentation to collect data. The research aims to investigate the role of wall climbing in fostering self-confidence in early childhood, identify factors that support children's self-confidence, and describe the challenges teachers face when implementing wall climbing activities at PAUD Sabila Ponorogo. The findings indicate that wall climbing can instill self-confidence in young children by fostering self-assurance, optimism, courage, a positive attitude, and initiative. Verbal encouragement from teachers and facilitators plays a vital role in supporting children's self-confidence, especially when they experience doubt or fear. A key challenge identified was the climbing wall's design, which was deemed unappealing and unsuitable for young children. Therefore, a redesign is recommended to make the wall more engaging and challenging for this age group
