Journal of Character Education Society (JCES) | ISSN 2614-3666, is one of the devotion journals managed by the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Muhammadiyah University of Mataram and published every January and July. The publication of JCES aims to disseminate conceptual thinking and ideas, especially the results of community service, including: (1) science, applied, social, economic, cultural, ICT development, and administrative services, (2) training and improvement of educational technology outcomes, agriculture, information and communication, and religion (3) Teaching and empowering community and community of students, youth and community institutions on an ongoing basis. Abstract

Abstrak: Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kedisiplinan dalam belajar melalui metode habituasi yang dirancang untuk meningkatkan motivasi intrinsik siswa di SMP Muhammadiyah Boarding School. Kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan selama satu bulan, dari tanggal 27 Agustus hingga 26 September 2024, sebagai bagian dari program KKN-dik yang diselenggarakan oleh FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi, perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi program. Tim pengelola program terdiri dari lima mahasiswa yang berkolaborasi dengan pihak sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun terdapat tantangan dalam penerapan aturan, lingkungan sekolah berkontribusi signifikan terhadap pembentukan kedisiplinan siswa. Siswa dapat menginternalisasi nilai-nilai disiplin dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, baik di sekolah maupun di rumah. Selain itu, program sosialisasi yang melibatkan seluruh elemen sekolah berhasil menciptakan budaya disiplin yang positif. Program ini tidak hanya berdampak pada peningkatan hasil belajar, tetapi juga berkontribusi pada pengembangan karakter siswa yang lebih bertanggung jawab dan teratur. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pentingnya konsistensi dan ketegasan pihak sekolah dalam menerapkan aturan disiplin guna memperkuat kebiasaan baik siswa.Abstract: This study aims to develop discipline in learning through a habituation method designed to enhance students' intrinsic motivation at SMP Muhammadiyah Boarding School. The community service program was conducted over one month, from August 27 to September 26, 2024, as part of the KKN-dik program organized by the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram. The method utilized included observation, planning, implementation, and evaluation phases. The program management team comprised five students who collaborated with the school administration. The findings revealed that despite challenges in rule enforcement, the school environment significantly contributed to shaping students' discipline. Students were able to internalize disciplinary values in their daily lives, both at school and at home. Furthermore, the comprehensive socialization program involving all school elements successfully fostered a positive disciplinary culture. This program not only improved academic outcomes but also contributed to developing students' character, making them more responsible and organized. The study recommends the importance of consistency and firmness in school policies to strengthen students' positive habits.

Abstract

Abstrak: Stunting masih menjadi masalah kesehatan yang signifikan di Indonesia, terutama di daerah dengan tingkat gizi dan sanitasi yang rendah. Program edukasi ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa Sekolah Dasar mengenai Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) sebagai langkah pencegahan stunting. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di SDN Pasirbiru, Rancakalong dengan metode edukasi interaktif, demonstrasi, serta sesi tanya jawab. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur efektivitas kegiatan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata skor dari 73,1 (kategori cukup) menjadi 90,8 (kategori sangat baik), dengan peningkatan sebesar 23,1%, yang membuktikan bahwa edukasi ini efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran siswa terhadap PHBS. Selain itu, tim juga menyerahkan alat cuci tangan sebagai kontribusi untuk mendukung kebiasaan hidup bersih di sekolah. Diharapkan, program ini dapat berdampak luas dalam menurunkan angka stunting dengan penerapan PHBS secara konsisten.Abstract:  Stunting remains a significant health issue in Indonesia, particularly in areas with poor nutrition and sanitation. This educational program aims to increase primary school students' understanding of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) as a preventive measure against stunting. The activity was conducted at SDN Pasirbiru, Rancakalong, using interactive education methods, demonstrations, and Q&A sessions. Evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test assessments to measure the program's effectiveness. The results showed an increase in the average score from 73.1 (fair category) to 90.8 (excellent category), with a 23.1% improvement, indicating that the education was effective in raising students' awareness of PHBS. Additionally, the team provided a handwashing facility as a contribution to support clean living habits in schools. This program is expected to have a broader impact in reducing stunting rates through the consistent implementation of PHBS.

Abstract

Abstrak: Thailand National Children's Day merupakan perayaan tahunan yang menjadi sarana pembelajaran non-formal bagi anak-anak melalui berbagai aktivitas yang dirancang secara interaktif dan menyenangkan. Dalam kegiatan ini, mahasiswa dari Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang turut terlibat sebagai bagian dari program pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Mahasiswa berperan sebagai fasilitator dalam sejumlah kegiatan edukatif seperti lokakarya seni, permainan edukatif, storytelling, serta pendampingan pertunjukan kelas. Keterlibatan ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan motivasi belajar, meningkatkan kepercayaan diri, serta mendorong pengembangan keterampilan sosial dan kognitif anak-anak melalui pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman Selama pelaksanaan, mahasiswa juga memperoleh pengalaman langsung dalam mengelola kegiatan, membangun komunikasi lintas usia, serta menyusun strategi pembelajaran yang kontekstual dan partisipatif. Kegiatan ini memperlihatkan bahwa partisipasi aktif mahasiswa dalam ruang edukatif non-formal dapat memperkuat peran sosial mereka sebagai agen pembelajaran di masyarakat. Namun demikian, sejumlah tantangan turut dihadapi, mulai dari keterbatasan pengalaman, perbedaan latar belakang budaya, hingga minimnya pelatihan awal dan sarana pendukung. Diperlukan dukungan kelembagaan yang lebih kuat serta integrasi program sejenis dalam kurikulum pendidikan tinggi agar manfaat dari kegiatan semacam ini dapat diperluas dan berkelanjutan.Abstract:  Thailand National Children's Day is an annual celebration that serves as a non-formal educational platform for children through interactive and engaging activities. As part of a community service program, students from the English Education Department at Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang participated in this event by facilitating a series of educational activities such as art workshops, educational games, storytelling sessions, and class performance assistance. Their involvement aimed to foster learning motivation, build self-confidence, and support the development of children's social and cognitive skills through experience-based learning approaches. Throughout the implementation, the students gained direct experience in managing activities, engaging in intergenerational communication, and designing contextual and participatory learning strategies. The activity demonstrated that student involvement in non-formal educational settings can enhance their social role as learning facilitators in community-based environments. Nevertheless, several challenges were encountered, including limited prior experience, cultural communication gaps, and a lack of preparatory training and supporting resources. Stronger institutional support and the integration of similar programs into higher education curricula are recommended to maximize the long-term impact and sustainability of such initiatives.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kelompok Jaya Bersama menghadapi kendala dalam memasarkan produk home industry mereka. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota kelompok Jaya  Bersama dalam bidang pemasaran digital. Fokus utama kegiatan ini adalah pengembangan kemampuan anggota dalam memanfaatkan platform digital marketing, seperti instagram guna memasarkan produk home industry yang tidak hanya mendukung ekonomi lokal tetapi juga berkontribusi pada konservasi lingkungan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Desa Pangkalan Jambi, Kabupaten Bengkalis, pada tanggal 14 Juni 2024, dengan rangkaian pelatihan yang meliputi manajemen usaha, pemasaran digital, dan pengelolaan media sosial. Diharapkan setelah pelatihan ini, anggota kelompok mampu mengembangkan strategi pemasaran yang lebih efektif sehingga produk mereka lebih dikenal luas dan pendapatan dari penjualan meningkat.Abstract:  The Jaya Bersama group faces challenges in marketing their home industry products. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of Jaya Bersama group members in the field of digital marketing. The main focus of this activity is to enhance the members ability to utilize digital marketing platforms, such as Instagram, to promote home industry products that not only support the local economy but also contribute to environmental conservation. This activity was held in Pangkalan Jambi Village, Bengkalis Regency, on June 14, 2024, with a series of training sessions covering business management, digital marketing, and social media management. It is expected that through this training, group members will be able to develop more effective marketing strategies, thereby increasing product recognition and boosting sales revenue.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan mahasiswi Indonesia dalam mendampingi acara seremonial internasional dengan penggunaan tiga bahasa, serta mengidentifikasi tantangan dan strategi efektif dalam komunikasi lintas budaya. Pendampingan dilakukan melalui empat tahapan utama, yaitu koordinasi awal, perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa penguasaan bahasa Thailand, Inggris, dan Indonesia serta pemahaman budaya sangat berperan dalam kelancaran acara. Penggunaan ketiga bahasa tersebut memastikan komunikasi yang efektif di antara peserta dengan latar belakang berbeda. Strategi pembimbingan, seperti pelatihan intensif, simulasi, dan pemanfaatan teknologi, terbukti mendukung peningkatan keterampilan mahasiswa. Meskipun terdapat tantangan dalam penguasaan bahasa, perbedaan budaya, dan kesiapan menghadapi perubahan mendadak, pendekatan kolaboratif dan evaluasi berkala membantu mahasiswa tampil lebih percaya diri dan profesional dalam menjalankan peran mereka. Dengan demikian, pengabdian ini menegaskan pentingnya keterampilan komunikasi dan pemahaman budaya dalam mendukung keberhasilan acara seremonial internasional serta mengembangkan kompetensi mahasiswa dalam interaksi lintas budaya.Abstract:  This service aims to improve the understanding and skills of Indonesian female students in assisting international ceremonial events with the use of three languages, as well as identifying challenges and effective strategies in cross-cultural communication. Assistance is carried out through four main stages, namely initial coordination, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed that mastery of Thai, English, and Indonesian as well as cultural understanding were instrumental in the smooth running of the event. The use of the three languages ensured effective communication among participants with different backgrounds. Mentoring strategies, such as intensive training, simulation, and technology utilisation, proved to support the improvement of students' skills. Despite challenges in language acquisition, cultural differences, and preparedness for sudden changes, the collaborative approach and regular evaluations helped students perform more confidently and professionally in their roles. Thus, this service confirms the importance of communication skills and cultural understanding in supporting the success of international ceremonial events and developing students' competence in cross-cultural interactions.
