Abstract

The problem formulation of this research is the Application of Expository Model with Demonstration Method and Giving Assignments to improve mathematics learning achievement of students of class IXC semester I of SMP Negeri 3 Selat, 2016/2017 school year. The purpose of this study was to improve mathematics learning achievement of students of class IXC of SMP Negeri 3 Selat in the first semester, 2016/2017 school year. The place for this class action research is at SMP Negeri 3 Selat, by taking the research subjects of class IXC students in the first semester of 2016/2017 school year. The object of this class action research is an increase in Mathematics learning achievement of students of class IXC Middle School 3 Strait, 2016/2017 academic year. The initial average value of 69.83 rose to 74.67 in the first cycle and in the second cycle rose to 75.64. The expository model with demonstration and assignment methods is very effective to be applied in the learning process that results in active, enthusiastic, critical thinking students and can understand the material being taught so that students' learning achievement increases.

Abstract

This study aims to increase the interest and learning outcomes of short story writing students of the IX-B class of SMP Negeri 3 Selat in the first semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. The subjects in this study were students of class IX-B, SMP Negeri 3 Selat, amounting to 31 people, consisting of 13 male students and 18 female students in the first semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. This study uses a class action research design through two stages. Data about students' interest in learning was collected by observation sheets, and short story learning outcomes were collected by the test method. Both types of data are analyzed by quantitative descriptive methods. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Suggestion-Imagination learning method can increase interest in learning and learning outcomes in short story writing for Class IX-B students of SMP Negeri 3 Selat in the first semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. with an average of 65.16 and completeness 51.61% in the first stage, being an average of students' learning interest of 83.55 and a completeness level of 93.55% in the second stage. While student learning outcomes also increased from an average of 68.87 in the first stage and the classical completeness rate of 51.61%, increased to an average of 75.48 in the second stage and a mastery level of 77.42%. Based on these results it is recommended; (1) utilize the Suggestion-Imagination method to increase interest and learning outcomes of short story writing; (2) make the results of this study a consideration in developing learning methods; (4) try this method on other material, or even on other subjects.

Abstract

The results of Class Counseling student learning outcomes VI semester Counseling Guidance Department, Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Studies, UIN Raden Intan Lampung in the previous year showed the low ability of students, especially in the subject of group dynamics and stages of group counseling. This condition is caused by poor understanding and skills regarding group counseling, new material, and lecture models or approaches used by lecturers are not optimal. Therefore, the problem solved through this research is "Can the application of the Cooperative Learning Model (STAD) improve the quality of Group Counseling lectures?". Class interventions in this study were carried out in two cycles. Data collection is done by testing and observation techniques. Benchmark of success of the action is if the average formative test score of the student is more than or equal to 70 (B) and the classical learning completion is at least 75%, the value of student learning activities and the lecturer perfomance score is at least 70 or B. Average acquisition Student formative test scores after the application of the cooperative learning model (STAD) in the first cycle were 71.21 and the classical learning completion was 63.16%. In cycle II student learning outcomes increased by 4.79 points to 76 and classical learning completion increased by 21.05% to 84.21%. Student learning activities in the first cycle reached a value of 77.5 (B) and in the second cycle increased by 6.25 points to 83.75 (A). The lecturer performance, in cycle I obtained a value of 78.75 (B) and in the second cycle increased to 83.12 (A). Thus, it can be concluded that through the cooperative learning model (STAD), the quality of Group Counseling lectures at the Guidance Counseling Department can be improved. It is therefore recommended, lecturers who are able to take Group Counseling courses, especially on group dynamics material and stages of group counseling use cooperative learning models (STAD) as an alternative.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to know the effectiveness of the presence of a guest teacher for the teachers in SMA Negeri 1 Kuta Selatan to produce a various research. Since PKG (Penilaian Kinerja Guru) has been implementing from January 1, 2013, teachers could not have a promotion in 2 years if they were not an administrator or in IV/a level. It happened because it needed a credit score of the continuing professional development in every preferment if teachers wanted to have a promotion from III/a to III/b. Then, for III/b and above, they need to complete the credit score through a scientific publication and or an innovative work. This research used literature review, questionnaire, observation sheets and interview in collecting the data. Meanwhile the data analysis used was descriptive qualitative. The results showed two points. First, the presence of a guest teacher through a workshop in SMA N 1 Kuta Selatan could increase teachers’ ability to produce a research and an innovative work. The impact was on the teacher’s promotion in the first cycle from no one to three people (7,69%) in the second cycle. The number of teachers who made proposal and were ready to present it in an academic conference were increasing from three people (7,69%) in the first cycle to eight people (20,51%) in the second cycle. Teachers who wrote scientific articles in an ISSN journal were also increasing from four people (10,25%) in the first cycle to five people (12,82%) in the second cycle. Second, the teachers’ response were also increasing toward the presence of a guest teacher from 72,22%, which was a neutral category in the first cycle, to 83,33%, a good category in the second cycle. Its effect the students’ achievements, from 72 medals in the first cycle to 88 medals in the second cycle.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the effect of Jigsaw technique on reading comprehension at grade ten of SMA 4 Negeri Pematangsiantar. The research used descriptive quantitative research design by applying Quasi-Experimental design. In conducting this design, the subjects of the research were divided into two groups: experimental group and control group. The treatment is introduced only to the experimental subject. The experimental group is treated by using Jigsaw technique while the control group is treated without Jigsaw technique. The subject of this research was the grade ten students (X PMIA 4 and X PMIA 5) in SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar. The researcher used mobile phone as instrument which recorded video teacher and students activity during teaching and learning process in the class. The result of the research showed that in significance degree of 5%, the value of t-observe > t-table that was (5.55 > 1.669). It could be said that t-observe was higher than t-table. So, the null hypothesis is rejected while the alternative hypothesis is accepted. In other words it can be concluded that the application of Jigsaw teaching technique significantly affects the students’ ability in reading comprehension of recount text at grade ten of SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to develop an Android-based learning media on basic physics courses in informatics engineering at STT Ibnu Sina which is valid, practical, effective. This study uses a method with Four-D design applied to develop and test the validity, practicality and effectiveness of android-based learning media. The stages of the research include defining, designing, developing, and distributing. The results of testing the validity of Android-based learning media indicate that the learning media are valid. Based on the response of lecturers and students about the practicality of instructional media shows that learning media is very practical and based on student learning outcomes indicate that the Android-based learning media has been effectively used in basic physics learning. The results of data analysis show that Android-based learning media is better in improving student learning in the basic physics learning process. Then concluded that the Android-based learning media can be applied in learning basic physics. Android-based learning media can be developed more broadly along with technological developments in the learning process.

Abstract

This research has a purpose to increase the reading interest of childhood through literacy activities based on family. In fact, reading interest of childhood is still low. It’s caused by low motivation of child in reading. The low stimulation of reading can obstruct development of chid language. One of strategies that can implemented to increase this reading interest in this research is Literacy activities based on family. This family literacy activities is given to children in their family. Research methode that’s used in this research is Research and Development. This research consist of introduction, litercy strategic development based on family, validation of literacy strategies based on family, trials and revision of literacy strategies development based on family and the last is implementation of procedure of literacy sstrategies development based on family. Subyek of this research are students of class B in PAUD BAI Rumah Cendekia, in Bogor Disstrict. Abstract

Human and the environment have an interdependence relationship. The human survival is depends on the environmental condition and vise versa. In fact, the degradation of environmental quality is mostly happen due to human activities. Therefore, it is necessary to apply the environmental education since primary school age. UNESCO has developed the environmental education model consists of three conceptual, they are education about the environment, education in the environment and education for the environment. This UNESCO environmental education development model is suitable to be applied in primary school for inside or outside classroom activities. The teacher’s role in implementing the environmental education model is as a model, motivator, developer and evaluator.

Abstract

Nowadays industrial revolution era, High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is part of skills needed to face global rivalry and complex life challenges. However, these skills incline to be little-mastered. It seems to be necessary to develop Higher Order Thinking Skills from the early-ages, especially for students which are integrated in the learning process. This study is a kind of library research. The result of this study showed is the advancement of HOTS can be done through an open-ended approach. The open-ended approach is able to stimulate the students in getting used to think critically, logically, creatively, collusively, argumentating, until decision making in the form of problem solving which contains analyzing, evaluating, and creating activities. Thus, the open-ended approach is well done in the learning process that can support the development of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)
