Abstract

A simple correlation and prediction of β-carotene in supercritical CO2 involving cosolvents has been developed. Several cubic equations (EOS) and proper mixing rules are employed in correlating available experimental data of solubility fl-carotene in supercritical CO2 involving polar cosolvents. The studies found that strong interaction in the system involving polar cosolvents occurred for which binary interaction parameters should be adjusted for correlating solubility of β-carotene. The strong interaction could be possibly that of solute-solute, solute-cosolvent or cosolvent association. The simple model, however, can predict solubility of β-carotene in that system studied after adjusting binary interaction parameters.

Abstract

This paper presents a robust decentralized adaptive controller for robot manipulators. The proposed controller does not require special knowledge of the robot dynamics model. Each joint of the manipulator is controlled by using an adaptive PD feedback controller and an adaptive gain acceleration feedforward. An auxiliary input is introduced to improve the convergence rate and to improve the robustness to torque disturbances and to a class of unmodelled dynamics. Lyapunov-based Model Reference Adaptive Control is used to establish the global stability of the tracking errors. Experimental results on an industrial robot are presented to verify the tracking performance of the proposed controller.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper discusses theoretical and experimental study to determine the signature of stator supply current and stator vibration of 3-phase induction motor resulting from airgap eccentricity. Based on the theoretical study it can be formulated that the signature due to eccentricity is affected by number of slots on the rotor and the stator as well as slip, defined as “Principal Slot Harmonics (PSH)” and “Dynamics Eccentricity Components (DEC)”. To study its feasibility for practical use a set of experiments was performed and the predicted signature was identified. Using the test rig, it was demonstrated that the magnitude of PSH and DEC in stator current and body vibration increase due to eccentricity.

Abstract

Ferro casting ductile 700 (FCD 700) is a ferrous material with carbon content > 2 %. It has pearlitc microstructure with a little amount of ferrite and nodular graphite. In as-cast condition FCD 700 has tensile strength 700 N/mm2 , elongation 2 % min. , hardness 229 – 302 BHN and impact value 7 joule. Heat treatment process is a process that can be executed to ferrous material. With heating the material until a range of austenite temperature then controlling the cooling rate. The objective is to repair or to modify the mechanical properties of material belongs before. In this article there’s a research about how far the exchange of mechanical properties or microstructure in FCD 700 if it being heat-treated. Cooling rate is given by isothermal and continuous condition. The variation of cooling rate and holding in some isothermal temperature is also accomplished. Research data affirm some gradation of mechanical properties and microstructure. The variety associate with cooling rate and isothermal holding which is performed.

Abstract

Since the begining of the first world war, the development and production of aircraft, especiallythe aircraft engine is booming, due to the urgent need of several leading countries to compete and gain superiority in the air for its survival and also to achieve hegemony politically as well as in the field of economy.World aircraft and engine producer were all involved in this competition, supported by its national - research - industrial and technological as well as high education centers. Many engine types, with various technological - level and specification is now available in the world market. For the customer it is a necessity to evaluate and select out of all those products the best choice to complete the airfleet which suits to the need from operational - economical - and logistic point of view.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper explores the study of numerical determination of roller bearing stiffness as a result of wear increment by using contact Hertzian method. This study is part of the research on the determination of roller bearing vibration response as a result of wear increment. In this paper, wear is assumed as diametral clearance, Cd, and force work in radial direction. Computational method shows that increasing wear causes the decrease of stiffness. The relationship between deflection and stiffness, radial load and stiffness as a function of Cd can be determined.
