Abstract

Saguling Generation Business Unit (GBU) is one of hydro powerplants under PT. Indonesia Power which has vital role to produce and distribute electricity in Indonesia. The demand for electricity in Indonesia, which is fluctuative, force the plant to operate in immediate and responsive pattern. Saguling need 2 minute to connect to the transmission system from its non operating state. Plant response is controlled by manipulating guide vane opening so the water entering the turbine chamber can be maintained. 5.6 % maximum overshoot still occurs in start up process due to manual mechanism. This paper provide a design of control system using Model Predictive Control (MPC) to optimize the plant performance which is indicated by faster response time and reduced overshoot. Neural Network with Back Propagation algorithm is used to model the turbine with guide vane opening as input variable and turbine angular speed as output variable. The model is then used in MPC algorithm to compute the optimum control signals.Keywords:  Neural Network, Model Predictive Control, Guide Vane, Cost Function.

Abstract

One of activities involved gripping activity is wall climbing sport. Physiologically, gripping activity involves finger flexor and finger extensor muscles at the lower arm. Naturally, muscles performance will decrease if muscles are given static or dynamic weight during certain time. This performance decrease is related with fatigue condition, which is also related with lactate acid accumulation, insufficient of metabolic reserve, and the decrease of neural activity in stimulating contraction[2].  Muscle fatigue characteristic experienced by participants were observed from the changing trend of Power Spectral Density (PSD) and median frequency of EMG signals, lactate acid level, and changing of handgrip strength and handgrip endurance values from four groups of measurement data.  The experiment was involving two professional wall climbing athletes as participants. The measurements were performed four times, which were before and soon after climbing, after first 15 minutes and after the second 15 minutes active recovery process, except for lactate acid level, measurements were performed twice, which were before and soon after climb activity. The athlete would have been ordered to climb the boulder for 15 minutes with a certain difficulty level.  Muscle performance measurement involved in this gripping activity was very important to know how far the influence of difference of subject and period of active recovery to recover muscle condition. Abstract

Reactive compensation is required to maintain terminal voltage of induction generator under varying load and speed operation. A new variable shunt capacitor, which is called SVC magnetic energy recovery switch (SVC MERS), is proposed. The operation principle, characteristics of injected current, operating range of reactive compensation of SVC MERS in star and delta configuration were investigated. Application for induction generator voltage controller, which is required leading reactive compensator, is suitable for SVC MERS. Small scale experiments were conducted to verify the proposed system performance to control induction generator voltage in variable load and speed conditions. The advantage of this device is simple control with low switching frequency. Moreover in delta configuration, the SVC MERS current is low means downsizing of heatsink can be achieved. Keywords : Voltage controller, induction generator, reactive compensation, SVC MERS

Abstract

Through this research a study has been introduced for adaptive education at the Open University. Through reviewing a number of systems available in this field ABAH system have been selected as a system built basically on the AHA! Adaptive system which provides both adaptive presentation as well as navigation, to solve the problem of the direct discussion among the students and the teacher which is not supported by AHA! or any other system. A proposal is introduced as an adaptive discussion tool with customized interface presenting guidance for the student to defining the appropriate students to discuss with by arranging the students in the discussion list and give them different colors. This proposal is mainly based on 3 agents: 1) chat user model agent, 2) chat adaptive agent, and 3) chat monitoring agent, beside adaptation rules knowledge base which will provide rules to construct adaptation strategy.  Keywords: ABADR, Collaborative Adaptive, Open University System, AHA!

Abstract

A current loop receiver system based on a microcontroller has been developed. The current loop receiver system can serve 8 gas sensors with 4-20 mA outputs, which are handled by employing a multiplexer. The data acquisition of the system is composed of a common operational amplifier-based current loop receiver, a CD4051 multiplexer, an ADS7822 serial analog to digital converter (ADC), and an AT89S52 microcontroller. The measured gas concentration is displayed on the 7-segments or transmitted to a personal computer via the RS232 serial communication to be processed by the Microsoft Excel. Abstract

Algoritma merupakan bagian penting dalam sistem kontrol robot. Terdapat banyak metode yang biasa digunakan untuk keperluan ini, salah satunya adalah random walks. Metode ini menitikberatkan pada estimasi gerakan berdasarkan bilangan random (acak). Disisi lain aplikasi pengolahan citra masih belum banyak digunakan sebagai alat kontrol. Abstract

Kontrol Model Prediksi adalah suatu strategi kontrol yang dirancang dengan menggunakan model dari proses suatu sistem. Model proses ini digunakan untuk menghitung himpunan prediksi ke depan dari proses tersebut berdasarkan himpunan sinyal kontrol yang diberikan pada model. Himpunan sinyal kontrol tersebut diperoleh dari suatu algoritma optimisasi yang meminimalkan fungsi kinerja MPC dan solusinya memenuhi kendala sistem. Oleh karena itu, pemilihan model yang tepat akan mempengaruhi kinerja dari pengontrol.Optimisasi merupakan bagian terpenting pada perhitungan sinyal control ke depan pada MPC. Pada tugas akhir ini digunakan optimisasi robas. Optimisasi robas atau Robust Optimization (RO) adalah metoda optimisasi yang dapat menangani ketidakpastian data. Ketidakpastian dalam hal ini adalah data dari masalah optimisasi tidak diketahui secara pasti saat menentukan solusi optimal.PT.Petrokimia Gresik Pabrik Pupuk Nitrogen memiliki boiler bertipe Waste Heat Boiler (WHB), pembangkit uap yang memanfaatkan gas panas sisa dari generator turbin gas. Sistem ini digunakan untuk melihat kinerja MPC dengan optimisasi robas dalam sistem di industri dan melakukan penghematan bahan bakar pada sistem WHB. Mekanisme pengontrolan dilakukan dengan keadaan awal 0 untuk setiap masukan dan keluaran, lalu diamati kestabilan sistem dan variabel prosesnya terhadap kendala sistem.RO-MPC dengan ketidakpastian elips parametrik dapat mengkompensasi gangguan terukur dari generator turbin gas. Nilai RMSE dan IAE dari keluaran yang mempengaruhi kualitas steam (uap), Tekanan uap RMSE 1 = 0.1327 dan IAE 1 = 32.1710, Flow uap RMSE 4 = 1.7132 dan IAE 4 = 2.3603, Temperatur uap RMSE 5 = 8.9758 dan IAE5  = 2242.4. Kata Kunci: Kontrol Model Prediksi, Optimisasi Robas, Optimisasi Konik, Robust Counterpart, receding horizon, waste heat boiler.

Abstract

The hardware and software of the Keithley 617 Programmable Electrometer System, which is used for electrical characterization of materials and devices, have been automated so that users can work under convenient environment. The main constraint in automation of the system was budget. It was decided that the PCL488 ISA card is reused. The computer supporting the ISA bus was Pentium II with 128 Megabytes of RAM and the best operating system for the Pentium II computer was Windows 98 SE. The software driver for the PCL488 card was also updated to be CEC488 v7, which is the latest version for Windows. Interactive software for measurement, processing and displaying data has been written by using the Borland Delphi version 6.0, which is a programming language with graphical-user interface capability. Abstract

It is essential that a chemical process plant is built based on a design that integrates the structural, operational and economic considerations. However, accomplishing such goal for a small section of a process system demands significant computational efforts. This project investigates the computational tractability of a mathematical optimization algorithm dedicated for such process control design, the Dynamic Operability Framework. The target output is a worst case computational cost of utilizing the framework to solve a process control design problem in comparison with a standard Mixed Integer Non-Linear Programming (MINLP) problem. The cost is calculated based on the numbers of design variables and constraints. This cost helps process designers to make an informed decision of utilizing and improving the framework as a tool for process design

Abstract

Telah dirancang dan dibangun alat pengukur curah hujan tipe tipping-bucket (TB) berbasis mikrokontroler AT89S8252. Alat ini menghasilkan tetesan 0,21 mm untuk daerah tabung kecil terpancang sebagai penerima tetesan (tipping-bucket/TB) dari kerucut penampung air hujan seluas 2837,54 mm2. Untuk mencacah TB-nya, sensor tipe reed switch digunakan dan dibaca oleh data logger berbasis mikrokontroler AT89S8252. Data logger tersebut dilengkapi sebuah real time clock dan komunikasi serial agar dapat mengirimkan data ke komputer. Curah hujan maksimum yang bisa diukur adalah 914,4 mm/jam. Kata kunci: Curah hujan, sensor reed switch, mikrokontroler AT89S8252AbstractA Tipping-bucket (TB) rain gauge using AT89S8252 microcontroller has been designed and built. This device produces 0,21 mm drops of water for the small tube receiver (tipping bucket/TB) from the rain water cone area of 2837,54 mm2. Reed switch sensor is used for sampling TB and the sampling data will be read by data logger system using AT89S8252 microcontroller. Data logger system is provided with real time clock and communication serial for sending the data to the computer.
