Abstract

This research is based on the assumption that films do not only show mere entertainment. They have space for various ideological representations. The aim of this research is to reveal how “the symbol of eternity” has been constructed through “Blood Diamond”, a Hollywood film. The research uses qualitative method with semiotic approach. The result shows that there are some “symbols of eternity” contructed in that film, which is Bling Blang versus Bling Bling, This Is Africa (TIA), and Black and White. Bling Blang versus Bling Bling shows that diamond is one of the symbols of eternity which has different meanings for two different countries. In Africa, it is marked by bloodshed. While in America, it is identical with luxury and pride. Meanwhile, TIA is a symbol of eternal significance showing that Africa is often constructed as a rich black continent, but known as areas of conflict, civil war and chaos. Lastly, Black and White in this movie are contructed as two groups that have different social classes.

Abstract

This research purpose that the family communications pattern analysis, function of socialization of family, form of communication happened at family who live in setlement and countrified in Bekasi City. Besides, also to know development of child of the the family. Method which in using in this research is descriptive method uses descriptive survey design, data analysis Statistik by using anova, wilcoxon and Rank Spearmen analysis. Result of research indicates that communications pattern to family in setlement is more usingly is combination pattern between patterns laisez-faire, protektif, pluralistic, and konsensual. Its use in corresponding to various conditions and situation when mothering. Function of active socialization, passive and radical in using in combination by family who live in setlement and countrified. In mother tongue usage ( area), both types of the family applies for inuring and recognition to child of child of they.

Abstract

This study analyzed the news coverages of former Criminal Investigation Chief of the Indonesian Republic Police Headquarter, General Commissioner Susno Duadji, who stated that there were a number of police officers involved in the tax case broker event of Gayus Halomoan P. Tambunan, an official at the Tax General Directorate. The case became a controversy because a police officer dared to accuse his own institution, thus making the case come to surface and fill headlines in media. Newspapers like Kompas and Republika, for instance, covered the story simultenously on their editions dated 19 – 23 March 2010. These editions were then selected to be analyzed with framing analysis method based on the Pan and Kosicki model to find how media defined news and what messages were emphasized by media. The conclusion of this study is Kompas tend to emphasize facts related to the government, how the government followed up the case broker event at the police institution. This was indicated by the way Kompas presented the event (story telling method) in form of an interconnected news plot from the 19th to the 23rd March edition of 2010. Whereas Republika tend to focus on Susno Duadji’s acts who stated that there was a case broker in the police institution. This emphasis can be seen from the titles and figures (resources) which were descriptively presented.

Abstract

This research purposes to determine how far the influences of E-Marketing practice and policy of Costumer Relationship toward Tangible Benefit at Bank X. The theories which are used in this research are theories relating to e-marketing, customer relationship and tangible benefits. E-Marketing theories explain about definition and models of e-marketing. Theories of Customer Relationship show the relation between customer relationship and the costumer itself, relation between e-marketing and customer relationship in understanding the customers, and the benefits reached by e-marketing and customer relationship practice. This research uses associative causal methodology. Independent variable X1 is E-Marketing practice, variable X2 is Customer Relationship policy, and dependent variable (Y) is Tangible Benefit. The object of this research is taken from information based on annual report. The results of this research are; double correlation as amount 0,810 between variable X1, variable X2, and variable Y. Coefficient of determination between variable X1, X2, and Y, which r is 0.810 showing positive and strong connection between variable X1 and variable X2 with variable Y. The highest amount of variable X1 and X2 the highest is variable Y. Double correlation significant test between variable X1, and X2 with Y , where Faccount=1,907>Ftabel (2/5) = 5,79 with significant value as amount 0,344 meant Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It means variable X1 and X2 has personally or simultaneously significant influence toward Y.

Abstract

This study is to explain that an internal and corporate communication between staff and management can be achieved effectively and efficiently through cooperation and harmonious working climate. The method is a descriptive analytic using a study of literature with qualitative analysis. The result shows that corporate need an intranet as an internal media to facilitate communication and information access. Intranet is a public relations media to promote sharing of knowledge, data storage, and dissemination of information, rules, and ideas and provide security, access to personal information that can be relied upon the company. Intranet is an effective internal communication in corporate.

Abstract

Kota Tua merupakan salah satu cagar budaya (cultural conservation zone) dan sejarah kota Jakarta. Di area ini, khususnya di area Taman Fatahillah dan Glodok, terdapat banyak peninggalan artefak budaya (cultural artifact) dan praktek budaya (cultural practices) yang memberikan penarasian aspek-aspek spatialitas (spatiality) dan etnisitas(ethnicity) kota Jakarta. Pusat dari penarasian ini adalah Museum Sejarah Kota Jakarta/ Museum Fatahillah yang didirikan di atas bekas balai kota Batavia, stadhuis. Posisi ini, menempatkan Museum Sejarah Kota Jakarta berada dalam dua posisi narasi; 1) posisi narasi yang mengacu pada spatialitas dan etnisitas masa lalu (Past Narrative) dan 2) posisi narasi yang mengacu pada konteks kekinian (Present Narrative). Hal ini memunculkan pertanyaan tentang narativitas (narrativity) penarasian sejarah kota Jakarta. Karena itu, penelitian difokuskan pada: 1) sudut pandang yang dipergunakan dalam penarasian melalui sequent koleksi museum dan kronologis sejarah (timeline) dan 2) konsep dan ideology yang berusaha dikonstruksi maupun yang mengkonstruksi narasi dalam narasi.Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian etnografi dalam Cultural Studies dan beberapa pendekatan kritis (critical theories) terutama konsep-konsep Bourdieu mengenai social space and symbolical power dan konsep spatialitas dan etnisitas Lefebvre, penelitian menunjukan bahwa narasi mengenai sejarah kota Jakarta tidak terlepas dari konteks budaya politik (cultural politic) dan politik identitas (politic of identity) dari sudut pandang dan kepentingan otoritas dalam mengkonstruksi pemaknaan mengenai spatialitas dan etnisitas kota Jakarta. Keanekaragaman etnisitas dan latar budaya yang merupakan peninggalan dari aliran budaya global masa lalu (global cultural flow) diterjemahkan, dikonsepsikan, dan diacukan pada satu etnisitas dan budaya pribumi dan lokal. Konteks inilah yang akhirnya menyebabkan invisibilitas (invisibility) identitas budaya beberapa etnis dalam narasi sejarahkota Jakarta.

Abstract

This paper discusses and explains sense relation. We give different definition between sense and meaning. Sense is a meaning of lexical unit distinguished from other meaning. Meanwhile, meaning is traditionally of something said to be expressed by a sentence. The formal approach to capture the lexical knowledge in a format compatible with the model-theoretical approach is meaning postulates. It would recognize automatically from knowledge rather than state in terms of component meaning of either word. Speaker and hearer have knowledge about many kinds of sense relation. Sense relation is a meaning of a lexical unit within the semantic system of a language. Sense relations discussed in this paper are entailment, inclusion, contradiction, anomaly, ambiguity, polisemy, homonymy, meronymy, referensy, presupposition and synonymy. Abstract

The aims of this study are to: 1) analyze the form of student creativity in SMP Negeri 19 Bekasi in academic year 2009/2010. 2) analyze the influence of family communication on student creativity in SMP Negeri 19 Bekasi in academic year 2009/2010? 3) find factors affecting student creativity in SMP Negeri 19 Bekasi in academic year 2009/2010. Sampling technique using proportional stratified random sampling method produces 62 samples. Data were analyzed using frequency analysis, the percentage also use the regression test of inferential statistics, normality tests. The results showed that 1) the intensity communication of the student family who study in SMP Negeri 19 Bekasi in academic year 2009/2010 includes both categories with the percentage of 64.47%. 2) Student creativity in SMP Negeri 19 Bekasi in academic year 2009/2010 is categorized by percentage 62.29%. 3) There is a positive influence on the intensity of family communication creativity in SMPN 19 Bekasi in academic year 2009/2010. The amount of influence on the intensity of the family communication creativity lessons learning student of the academic year 2005/2006 amounted to 42.4%.

Abstract

This article discusses an example the case a broker of a major media company that is TVOne. A private television station in Indonesia is experiencing problems related to the credibility of the election of a resource person in the show. Problems occur when one a journalist of TVOne displays case a broker in the body of the Indonesian Police Headquarters (Police Headquarters) in the program Apa Kabar Indonesia Pagi, on March 18, 2010. The program was to discuss the hot topics by displaying a competent resource persons. Incidentally when the topics discussed, the public was case a broker highlighted the discovery of cases of tax at the Directorate General of Taxation. But in that program, presented by resource persons found not credible. This is because the testimony presented regarding the existence of a case a broker at Police Headquarters body was counterfeit. Resource persons named Andris Ronaldi told presenter confessed TVOne, Indi Rahmawati pretend to be a case a broker at Police Headquarters. Based on these cases, in this article will discuss how a major television station as a trusted community of reference television news maintained its reputation after the case occurred. As a television station that has not been long standing, TVOne is building the image into news television station in Indonesia
