Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the effectiveness of four types of packaging, namely: vacuum, non-vacuum, plastic wrapping, and perforation in maintaining the quality of carrots (Daucus carota L.) during cold storage until signs of damage appear, based on parameters of changes in weight, water content, color, and texture. The method used is an experiment with four treatments of packaging types on carrots stored in a refrigerator at a temperature of 2°C-4°C for 30 days. Observations were made on changes in weight, color (L*, a*, b*), texture, and moisture content of the carrots in each treatment. The results of the study show that in vacuum packaging, the average weight change was 0.00-0.35 g (23 days), the average moisture content change was 87%-86% (30 days), the average L* color change was 54.83, a* of 33.59, and b* of 54.83, and a texture of 4.73-3.40 N. In non-vacuum packaging, the average weight change was 0.00-0.20 g (17 days), the average moisture content change was 86.33%-86.0% (30 days), the average change in color L* was 56.72, a* was 30.10, and b* was 56.72, and the texture was 4.73-2.93 N. In perforated packaging, the average change in weight was 0.26-8.61 g (30 days), the average change in moisture content was 87%-86% (30 days), the average change in color L* was 55.04, a* was 27.32 and b* was 55.03, and the texture was 4.73-2.93 N (30 days). In perforated packaging, the average weight change was 0.00-21.74 g (15 days), the average moisture content change was 86.50%-85.0% (30 days), the average color change L* was 54.35, a* 29.69, and b* 54.35 (30 days), and the average texture was 4.73-2.03 N (30 days). Based on the results of a comparative analysis of the four types of packaging, plastic wrapping proved to be the most effective in maintaining carrot quality during cold storage until signs of damage appeared. Abstract

Agriculture is a strategic sector that plays a crucial role in ensuring national food security, particularly in rural areas where the majority of the population depends on farming activities for their livelihood. One of the key factors determining the success of farming, especially rice cultivation, is the availability of sufficient, equitable, and timely irrigation water throughout the growing season. In this regard, irrigation systems serve as vital infrastructure supporting agricultural sustainability. This study aims to calculate the efficiency of water distribution based on channel capacity and the ratio of upstream-downstream water discharge, as well as to calculate the value of water loss due to technical and non-technical factors. The results indicate that the effective efficiency of the irrigation channels is 66% for Channel 1 and 74% for Channel 2. Overall, these efficiency levels are still considered relatively low. Water losses occurred in both channels, totaling 0.02678 m³/s for Channel 1 and 0.01423 m³/s for Channel 2. These losses were attributed to seepage, percolation, evaporation, and direct water withdrawal by farmers at several points, which was exacerbated by the absence of an active water management institution for the irrigation channels.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze antioxidant activity and to obtain the best formulation of herbal drink of moringa leaf tea with the addition of stevia leaves. The method used in this study was a descriptive method with formulation A (90% moringa leaves and 10% stevia leaves), formulation B (80% moringa leaves and 20% stevia leaves), formulation C (70% moringa leaves and 30% stevia leaves), and formulation D (60% moringa leaves and 40%). Based on the results of the antioxidant test, treatment C has a smaller IC50 value of 38,21 ppm, meaning that treatment C has stronger antioxidant activity and based on the total phenol test, treatment C has a higher total phenol content with an average value of 378.09 mg GAE/gr. Based on the results of the panelist preference level test, treatment C (70% moringa leaves and 30% stevia leaves) is the best formulation in terms of taste, aroma and color.

Abstract

This study entitled robusta and arabica coffee effects on yoghurt’s physical, chemical, sensory, and microbiological quality. Aimed to investigate the impact of adding Robusta coffee, Arabica coffee, and their combination on the physicochemical properties and sensory acceptance of yoghurt. The research was structured using a Completely Randomized Design, analyzing six distinct formulations, including a control (A), pure coffees (B, C), and combinations (D, E, F). Data analysis utilized ANOVA followed by the Honestly Significant Difference test. Sensory evaluation identified treatment E as the most preferred overall (score 4.00), owing to its strong, yet well-balanced, coffee flavor and aroma. Further analysis focused on treatment E, assessing viscosity, color, and total Lactic Acid Bacteria count. Results indicated that coffee inclusion significantly influenced all parameters. Treatment E exhibited the highest pH (4.85) and showed a dramatic viscosity decrease from 727.5 (control) to 37.5 cP. Color analysis revealed a darker product (L* 63.93), with significant increases in a*, b*, C*, and H* values, attributed to coffee's melanoidin content. Importantly, the total LAB count for treatment E (4.5 × 10⁷ CFU/ml) was statistically similar to the control and met the minimum national standard (SNI 01-2981-2009). In conclusion, Formulation E successfully yielded a functional coffee yoghurt product with excellent organoleptic characteristics and preserved the viability of Lactic Acid Bacteria.

Abstract

The application of technology in the agricultural sector is the use of agricultural tools and machinery. Equipment and machinery enable farmers to increase efficiency, productivity, and product quality. Furthermore, agricultural tools and machinery will enhance social status and the environment. One effort to increase efficiency in farming is the use of mechanical power, such as tractors for land processing. The main reason for shifting from manual to mechanization is the crucial role of agricultural tools and machinery in supporting the continuous increase in agricultural production. In an effort to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of agricultural machinery use, economic analysis of the tractors used is necessary. The research results showed that the total cost was IDR 121,827 per hour. The break-even point was achieved at land processing of approximately hectares per year. The feasibility analysis of the Harfia HTR 445 tractor based on the Net Present Value (NPV) calculation was IDR 328,757,162. The Benefit-Cost Ratio was 1,18. The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) was 22%. Based on the results obtained, the Harfia HTR 445 four-wheel tractor is economically feasible. Keywords: Tractor, Efficiency, Economic Analysis

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different soaking media mineral water, rice-wash water, 1% Ca(OH)₂, and 1% citric acid on the sensory, chemical, and physical qualities of nori produced from a mixture of Ulva lactuca (95%) and Eucheuma cottonii (5%). The results showed that the soaking treatments had a significant effect on the color, aroma, flexibility, crispness, moisture content, and hardness of the nori. The mineral-water treatment produced the best overall performance, with the lowest moisture content (3.01%), the highest flexibility score (3.03), and the highest panelist acceptance score (3.58). The 1% Ca(OH)₂ treatment provided the best green-color stability (a* –7.00) and the lowest hardness (9.847 N), whereas the 1% citric acid treatment resulted in the most degraded coloration (a* 2.70) and the highest hardness (21.076 N). Differences among treatments were influenced by pH-driven modifications of polysaccharide structures, ionic interactions, and depolymerization mechanisms. Overall, rice-wash water was identified as the most effective soaking medium for improving the quality of locally produced nori made from U. lactuca and E. cottonii.
