Abstract

The students of mechanical engineering at vocational college must be able to communicate in English, both written and spoken, using the specific term related to their department, and need to learn vocabulary with the integration of technology to confront the world of work. The study aimed to develop the English learning materials for specific purposes specifically for mechanical engineering students through functional contextualism approach. The study employed the qualitative descriptive method. The subjects of this study were English lecturers and mechanical engineering students of the South Aceh Polytechnic in grades II. The data were collected by interviews, observations, and questionnaires. Data analysis with data classification, transcription, verification, and conclusions. The results of the study showed that development of English language teaching materials for mechanical engineering study programs based on the ESP and functional contextualism approach includes in the form of textual development packages, namely (1) textbooks (2) lecturer guides and (3) student guides. The purpose of the development is that learners can improve the quality of their learning outcomes in English Engineering and use them in the workplace (market place). In other words, the material also develop based on the context of their surroundings, like integrated approaches, functional contextualism blends sociocultural and historical context, but with the pragmatic and scientific aims of behaviour analysis. In addition to taught and constructed learning, functional contextualists suggest functional change in meaning is the process of recontextualization.

Abstract

This research aimed to make it easier for students and workers to understand how to work on a Sterilizer machine with hands-on practice in a virtual situation. This research used the multimedia development life cycle method. This MDLC method had 6 stages: concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution. Virtual Reality is built using Blender software, unity, and bridged by the C# programming language. Based on the results of research conducted on this research, the development of virtual Reality on this sterilizer machine makes it easy to understand how to work on it virtually without using the actual machine

Abstract

In general, palm oil processing factories, from fresh fruit bunches to Crude Palm Oil, require three-phase electric motors to drive or rotate it. The problems that often arise when using three-phase electric motors simultaneously in large numbers will result in very large surges in the electric current, which can affect the performance of electronic devices. To overcome this problem, a prototype of a three-phase AC voltage regulator circuit was made by adjusting the SCR triggering delay angle using an analog electronics equipment control that can be used for three-phase motor soft start applications in a palm oil factory. This prototype will be used as a learning tool for the practical for Aceh Polytechnic students for power electronics courses. This system is built with a method where the three-phase source is first lowered using a transformer arranged in a star on the primary and secondary sides, then each voltage is compared to the ground using an IC LM324, which aims to produce pulses wave. This pulse then connected to a triangular wave generator circuit, this triangular wave is then compared with the DC source voltage from the potentiometer, which aims to regulate the SCR triggering angle of SCR via MOC3063 driver, where the load used is resistive and connected in a star. The measurement using an oscilloscope and observing the change of triggering angle for several variations of each phase, the different Vrms voltage between measurements compared to mathematical analysis influenced by several factors, including, the transformer is made of three transformers that not identically, the electronic components used are not in ideal condition, and observations on the oscilloscope are carried out visually using the eye and manually adjusting the potentiometer rotation so that the level of measurement accuracy between one person and another will produce different values.

Abstract

The problem often encountered in medical record services at hospitals is the inefficiency and ineffectiveness of processing registration data due to the continued use of manual bookkeeping as an archive. This leads to obstacles such as difficulties in retrieving patient data and the risk of data redundancy. When patients do not bring their medical cards, there is a risk of damage or loss of patient data, as well as the risk of data accumulation that requires special storage space. Therefore, this study developed a medical record information system using the waterfall method, which consists of requirements, design, implementation, verification, and maintenance phases. Based on the results of white box testing, the cyclomatic complexity is 21, region = 21, and independent path = 21, indicating that the system is functioning well without errors. Furthermore, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) resulted in a percentage of 81.5% from 10 respondents, indicating the system received positive feedback from users.

Abstract

CV. Rezeki Bersama is a producer of crude coconut oil (CCO) based in Alus-alus Village, Teupah Selatan District, Simeulue Regency, Aceh. CV. Rezeki Bersama employs 15 people at various production stations, including press machines. In practice, this research uses the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method to determine the damage that occurred at the press station of the joint rezeki factory. The FMEA approach is used to assess the likelihood of failure in a manufacturing process, determining its severity, frequency of occurrence, and detectability. This study focuses on collecting machine damage data from January 3 to February 3 2024 and evaluating it to determine the Risk Priority Number (RPN) value which will be used to indicate the priority of repairs needed. This research aims to provide recommendations for repair and prevention of damage in the future, as well as increasing the reliability and efficiency of the company's operations.

Abstract

Bisnis kafe yang menyediakan menu makanan dan minuman saat ini sedang berkembang pesat. Ruang Kopi Teka yang berlokasi di Tangerang merupakan kafe yang ingin lebih mengoptimalkan pelayanan kepada konsumen dengan mempermudah proses pemesanan makanan dan minuman. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah merancang sistem pemesanan untuk memudahkan pelanggan dalam memesan menu dengan pemilik usaha yang mengelola pesanan. Metode yang digunakan dalam perancangan sistem ini adalah Rapid Application Development (RAD). Tahapan dalam RAD terdiri dari Requirement planning, Design Workshop dan Implementation. Sistem dibangun menggunakan bahasa pemrograman PHP dengan Framework Codeigniter, tampilan sistem menggunakan Bootstrap CSS Framework dan penyimpanan data menggunakan MariaDB. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sistem yang memungkinkan pelanggan untuk memesan menu makanan dan minuman hanya dengan memindai Quick Response (QR) Code yang telah disediakan di setiap meja pelanggan.

Abstract

Optical sensors are widely used in various industrial sectors, including petrochemical and medical industries, with applications ranging from oxygen level measurement, concentration of substances in a liquid, object detection, and more. Optical sensors can be used to detect the water content in oil, such as palm oil or other oils. In an industrial process, especially in the palm oil industry, the water content in oil must meet a maximum standard of 4.5%. Optical sensors can measure water content using various methods, such as Total Internal Reflection (TIR) or Mid-Infrared (MIR), and can be monitored in real-time using IoT-based applications. The utilization of sensitive optical technology takes advantage of changes in the refractive index caused by variations in water content in palm oil. The method employed involves the development of an optical sensor based on the Mid-Infrared principle, which measures the amount of light absorbed by water and the light reaching the sensor for comparison. The results of water content measurements in palm oil that have been conducted can only be implemented for water content measurements of 0-5% in palm oil, with a sensor response that is less than linear above 5% water content. By correcting the non-linearity error of the sensor, the data is reduced to produce measurement results that are closer to the actual water content in palm oil, which will be displayed on local monitoring and real-time or continuous monitoring through IoT using smartphones and PCs wirelessly via IoT-based applications

Abstract

The use of palm oil solid waste as a raw material for refuse derived fuel (RDF) is a promising alternative to overcome environmental and energy problems. This study aims to test the quality of RDF produced from palm solid waste by paying attention to the composition of the mixture and treatment method through quantitative experimental methods, which are divided into two stages: processing and quality testing. The results showed that the average calorific value of RDF reached 4,216.75 cal/g, moisture content 10.76%, ash content 4.37%, volatile matter 58.11%, and fixed carbon 26.75%, all of which showed great potential as an alternative energy source. Although the RDF calorific value of palm solid waste is higher than the industry standard, the moisture content and ash content are still below international standards, and the calorific value is slightly below the SNI class 1 standard but higher than that of class 2 and 3. These findings indicate that RDF from palm oil solid waste has the potential to be a good quality alternative fuel.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a recommendation system for electronic products using the Content-Based Filtering method. In this research, calculations were performed to identify 12 products that exhibit similarity based on their respective categories. The method employed for these calculations was cosine similarity, which measures the degree of similarity between products. The analysis results indicate that there are three products with the highest similarity values, specifically 73, 71.15, and 64.89. These products were selected based on their relevant characteristic similarities and features, thereby providing accurate recommendations for consumers. This recommendation system is expected to significantly enhance the online shopping experience by assisting consumers in finding products that align closely with their preferences and needs. Consequently, this research offers substantial contributions to companies seeking to improve customer satisfaction and operational efficiency, ultimately leading to better consumer engagement and increased sales in the competitive electronic market.
