Natural: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan IPA offers an interdisciplinary forum for the publication of original peer-reviewed, contributed and invited research articles of the highest quality that address different topics of science education with implications for improving and enhancing science education practices and theories. The topics involves biology, chemistry, physics, as well as some applications pedagogy and teacher development. The journal provides an invigorating and informative variety of research papers that expand and deepen our theoretical understanding. It also provides practice and policy based implications in the relevant contexts of science education.
Published biannualy, the journal employs a rigorous peer review process. We do not accept manuscripts which are not easily understandable in English or do not address our major focus.

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on science learning outcomes of class VII students of SMP in terms of problem solving skills. This research was a quasi-experimental research design, using pretest posttest. Descriptive results showed that the tendency of science learning outcomes with PBL models was obtained on average in the experimental class of 22.67 including very high categories, and classes taught by the lecture method were 17.47 in the high category. Whereas for problem solving skills students taught with PBL obtained an average of 78.54 which included high and class categories taught by the lecture method of 70.38 which included the high category as well. Based on the test of the Anakova obtained Fcount = 10.723 with p = 0.002. From the data obtained, the hypothesis was accepted and significant. Comparatively there were very significant differences in science learning outcomes of class VII students between PBL learning model and the expository model in terms of students' very significant problem solving skills.

Media is a very effective tool used for learning. This research is motivated by the lack of learning media in schools. This study aims to determine the steps of media development, media quality by experts, teachers and students. This research is a type of research and development (R&D) ADDIE development methods, namely analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. Data collection techniques using expert validation sheets, student assessment sheets and teacher assessment sheets are then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data.The results of this study indicate that research and development has been carried out with the ADDIE step, the results of the study showed that the development of puzzle media based on make a match material for the life cycle of living creatures in fourth grade elementary school was declared feasible and received positive responses from students and teachers. The results of the validation produced by media experts got a value of 98 in the excellent category. the value resulting from the validation of the material experts obtained 85.3 in good category and the validation results produced by learning experts obtained 84 grades in good categories. With the final average overall results obtained 92.5 with a very good category.

This research was aimed to 1) develop a Science Learning LKPD based on Discovery Learning on subject materials Work and Simple Machine in Daily Life for VIII Middle School Students; 2) find out the feasibility of Discovery Learning based LKPD on subject materials Work and Simple Machine in daily life for VIII grade junior high school students; and 3) knowing students responses to the development of Discovery Learning-based LKPD on subject materials Work and Simple Machine in daily life for VIII grade junior high school students. This research includes development research (design research) with a 4-D development model. Data collection techniques used assessment instruments by material experts, media experts, peer reviewers, science teachers, and grade VIII students in junior high schools. The data analysis technique uses the quality analysis of LKPD. Based on the assessment of expert lecturers, peer reviewers, and science teachers, the average score of 4.31 was obtained with a percentage of 86.43% stating that the quality of the LKPD was very good (VG). The results of students' responses obtained an average score of 4.31 with a percentage score of 86.43% stating that the quality of the LKPD IPA Very Good (VG). It can be concluded that the developed Natural Sciences LKPD is suitable for use in learning science in schools.

HOTS merupakan proses berpikir pada level kognitif yang meliputi kemampuan pemecahan masalah, kemampuan berpikir kreatif, berpikir kritis, kemampuan berargumen, dan kemampuan mengambil keputusan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal IPA tipe HOTS. Mahasiswa dalam menghadapi berbagai perkembangan di era abad 21 tentunya dibutuhkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi atau HOTS. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif, yang bersifat deskriptif. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu survey selain itu jenis penelitian ini bersifat ex-post facto. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes. Subjek penelitian yaitu mahasiswa UAD yang sedang menempuh matakuliah IPA. Populasi dari penelitian yaitu mahasiswa PGSD UAD yang sedang menempuh matakuliah IPA. Sampel yang digunakan yaitu mahasiswa semester 1 dan mahasiswa semester 5, Jumlah sampel yang digunakan yaitu 154. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa kemampuan mahasiswa semester 1 mencapai 38,67% dan masuk pada kategori sedang. Mahasiswa semester 1 dalam mengerjakan soal kemampuan analisis mencapai 37,33% masuk pada kategori rendah dan persentase dalam pengerjaan soal tipe evaluasi masuk dalam kategori sedang. Secara umum mahasiswa semester 5 kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa masuk dalam kategori sedang, dengan persentase 38,67%. Mahasiswa semester 5 dala mengerjakan tipe soal analisis mencapai 41,77% masuk dalam kategori tinggi, dan tipe soal evaluasi sebesar 32,91% masuk dalam kateori sedang. Demikian dapat diketahui bahwa mahasiswa PGSD dalam menyelesaikan soal IPA tipe HOTS perlu ditingkatkan lagi khususnya pada tingkat evaluasi (C5). Â

Local wisdom-oriented learning invites students to gain direct learning experience with natural situations. This study aims to describe how to develop LKPD based on local wisdom that is appropriate to be used to improve the critical thinking skills of eighth grade junior high school students. This research includes development research using 4-D development models namely Define, Design, Develop and Dessiminate. The LKPD research instrument was in the form of a questionnaire that included several aspects of assessment. The LKPD validation was carried out by media experts, material experts, peer reviewers, science teachers and grade VIII students. The results of this study indicate that the local wisdom-based science worksheet developed with the 4-D model to improve critical thinking skills of junior high school students in grade VIII is declared feasible or valid based on the validator's assessment. Assessment of media experts with a percentage of ideals of 80%, according to expert material 86.08%, percentage of ideals according to peer reviewers 92.06%, science teachers of SMP 5 Banguntapan 80%, teachers of SMP 2 Godean 88.75%, while according to students of SMP 5 Banguntapan was 82.28%, while the students of Godean 2 Junior High were 81.90%. Based on the assessment of the science-based LKPD of local wisdom in order to improve the critical thinking skills of eighth grade junior high school students who are deemed fit for use in science learning
