Abstract

Long bean is the one of the most widely consumed vegetables both fresh and processed. The market demand for long beans is rising, but their production remains limited. This study aims to investigate how different concentrations of paclobutrazol and various types of nitrogen fertilizers affect the growth and yield of long bean plants. The research was conducted in Dander Village, Dander District, Bojonegoro Regency, East Java. The study employed a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors: the concentration of paclobutrazol (P0 = control, P1 = 150 ppm, P2 = 200 ppm, P3 = 250 ppm) and the type of nitrogen fertilizer (N0 = NPK control, N1 = Urea, N2 = ZA, N3 = KNO3). Variables to observed included plant length, number of leaves, flowering age, number of pods, pod weight, number of seeds, and fruit set. The results showed that the combination of 150 ppm paclobutrazol and KNO3 nitrogen fertilizer produced the best results in terms of the fastest flower emergence at 29 days after planting (HST) and the highest pod weight of long beans at 43.00 grams per plant. Keywords: Paclobutrazol, Various Nitrogen Fertilizers, Growth, Yield, Long Beans (Vigna sinensis L.)

Abstract

Bekasi is one of the regions in Indonesia that often suffer from flooding. To overcome flooding problems in the Bekasi area, the Ciliwung Cisadane River Basin Center has begun a normalization project along the Bekasi River. This research aimed to evaluate the Bekasi River's cross-sectional capacity both before and after normalization. The analysis focused on the section where the Cileungsi and Cikeas rivers converge to the Bekasi weir. In this research, secondary data were employed, such as national digital elevation model data, detailed engineering designs of Bekasi River flood control activities, and rainfall data from the Cibinong Station that covers the period from 2006 to 2020. The result from planned flood discharge with the Nakayasu synthetic unit hydrograph method for a return period of 25 years on the Bekasi River was obtained at 665.81 m3/s. The results of hydraulic analysis before normalization with the HEC-RAS application show that flooding occurred at 102 out of 116 stations, with capacities of river cross-sections ranging from 453.49 m³/s to 665.71 m³/s at these overflow stations. Following the river normalization process, the cross-sectional capacity at all Bekasi River stations can accommodate flood discharge without any instances of overflow. Keywords: Flood, HEC-RAS, Nakayasu, Normalization, Rainfall.

Abstract

In tomato plants, one of the decisive factors is the soil humidity factor, where the optimal humidity for tomato plants is 80%. For this reason, the tomato planting process requires regular and measurable irrigation or watering. This research aims to create an automatic watering system for tomato plants with soil humidity and pH detection. In this system, Fuzzy logic is used as the control method and this system is also equipped with a monitoring system using the telegram application. In this system, the humidity sensor and soil pH sensor will provide information about soil conditions and forward the electrical signal to the NodeMcu ESP32 microprocessor, as the control center and signal processing. This input signal is then processed using Fuzzy logic control to decide whether the system will activate the relay on the water pump. If the humidity value is <60%, the pump will activate and sprinkle water until the humidity reaches 80%. The measurement results of soil humidity, soil ph, and pump relay conditions will be sent via Internet of Things technology so that they can be monitored remotely using the Telegram application. From the research results, it is found that the system can work as expected with an accuracy value of 100% with a delay time for sending data to Telegram of 14.1 seconds. Keywords: Fuzzy logic, Humidity, NodeMcu, Sensor, Soil pH.

Abstract

Plants receive water from the fog irrigation system in the form of tiny, mist-like water particles. Currently, irrigation technology has advanced, nurseries can be automatically irrigated. In this research, the ESP32 microcontroller is used to create the electronic circuits for the automation of the fog irrigation control system in a mustard green nursery. This study's methodology combines direct field observation with an experimental or trial approach. Water flow (ml/minute), water use efficiency (%), plant height (cm), number of leaves, and scheduled fog irrigation system performance are among the measured parameters. In this investigation, four different treatments were used: manual irrigation using a watering can, two-time, three-time, and one-time irrigation. All is going according to plan with this mist watering system. With an average height of 4.58 cm and an average number of leaves of 3.24, the mist irrigation system had the highest water use efficiency of 77.35% during the test. Abstract

Mayang River in Jember Regency has a strategic role in fulfilling people's lives and is a source of water for 79 irrigation areas with a total area of 16,471 hectares. Community use of the Mayang River has the potential to provide input of organic material from waste which can reduce river water quality. The aim of this research is to analyze the spatial distribution of water quality parameters, namely TSS, TDS, pH, DO and BOD. This research uses multiple linear regression techniques to determine the value of the distribution or spatial distribution of Mayang River pollution, as well as identifying water quality variables that are correlated in each region. The research results show that water quality parameters that have a strong correlation are pH (r = 0.74), DO (r = 0.72) and TSS (r = 0.65), moderate correlation with BOD parameters (r = 0.48) and low correlation with BOD parameters. TDS parameters (r = 0.25). Based on the analysis results, it is known that water quality parameters are correlated with different activities in each region. The results of this research can be used as a strategy for monitoring water quality in the Mayang River to control the impact of human activities in the surrounding area. Keywords: Multiple Linear Regression, Spatial Distribution, Water Quality.

Abstract

Paddy straw as an agricultural waste can be returned to the soil to increase the organic matter content. This study aims to determine the optimum inoculant treatment of rice paddy straw on soil quality. The straw handling was carried out by spreading the straw on paddy fields and sprayed with four inoculant treatments (0, 3, 6, 9, and 12 L/ha). The incubation process was carried out for 21 days and incorporated in the soil through plowing. Each treatment was repeated three times so that the total treatment was 15 units. The variables observed in each treatment were soil quality. The soil quality parameters observed were particle density, bulk density, porosity, field capacity and pH. ANOVA statistical analysis which was continued by the Tukey HSD Post Hoc Test to determine the effect of treatment on soil quality. The results showed that the inoculant treatments showed a significant difference (p-value=0.05) in soil volume, density, and porosity. P4 gave the optimum results which are statistically not significantly different from P3. P4 shows the physical properties of the soil which consist of the soil bulk density of 0.61 g/cm3; particle density 1.74 g/cm3; porosity was 64.91%, and pH 6.68. The utilization of straw biomass as source of organic material contributes to zero waste rice cultivation. Keywords: Effective microorganisms, Rice straw, Soil density, Soil pH, Soil porosity.
