Abstract

Egg are nutrient-rich livestock products and are needed by the body as a source of protein, fat, andminerals are cheap and affordable for all people. However, the egg is a perishable farm products. Thesecond phase of broiler production was 42--72 weeks to produce eggs which have a large surface area, thin shell, causing release CO2 and H2O through the pores for fast storage, so that the rate of decline ininternal egg quality the faster. The purpose of this study are (1) determine the effect of egg storage time on the internal quality ofeggs and (2) determine the best long shelf against internal quality egg production in the secondphase. This research was carried out on September 25--October 9, 2013 housed in the LaboratoryAnimal Production and Reproduction, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture,University of Lampung. This study use a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments eggstorage time for 1,5, 10, and 15 days. The data obtained were tested in accordance with theassumption of variance. If there was a real variable Duncan test at 5% significance level. The results of this study showed that treatment of egg storage significant effect (P<0,05) on eggweight, HU impairment, an increase in the pH of the egg, and egg yolk color score. Storage time forfive day the best effect on egg weight is lowest at 1,4% and the value of Haugh Units (HU) of 55,4(quality B) compared to the old 10 and 15 days of storage.

Abstract

Egg production phase consists of two phases which first production phases and second productionphase. The first of production phase in turkeys began at the 6.5 to 7,0 months of hen age, the peakproduction phase mains 9-10 ages, while the second of production phase on the life is more than14 months of the hen age. Egg production in the first phase of production is higher than of eggproduction in the second phase production. This is caused by the ability of the reproductive organs in the first production phase better than thesecond phase. The research was carried out on 1 March-12April 2013 held at the Ranch turkeyPekon Sukoharjo Natural Partners I, Sukoharjo District, District Pringsewu. Eggs were usedduring the study were turkey eggs as much as 60 egge with an average weight of 68,83 g egg onegg production phase of the 7 months of age and 82.45 g in egg production phase at 14 monthsage. This study used 2 treatment design, namely the egg production phase 7 months of hen age(T1) and egg production phase 14 months of hen age (T2), each treatment consisted of 10experimental units and each unit consists of experiments 3 eggs. Data were analyzed usingStudent's t-test with a significance level of 5%. Treatment of egg production of the first and secondphase of the turkey parent age 7 months and 14 months did not affect significant (P> 0.05) onfertility, hatchability turkey, and hatchability, whereas the hatching weight significantly (P <0.05)the turkey egg.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the Boerawa goat nutrition status based on material of feed, nutritional content, and feeding management used by Boerawa goat farmers in Lampung province. There were 50 farmers to interview coming from three districts of production centers (16 farmers from Pesawaran, 17 farmers from Pringsewu, and 17 farmers from Tanggamus). This research used qualitative approach with survey method, and data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that feed to use were merely vegetative feed (leafs). These three districts of Boerawa goat production centers have abundant potentials of agricultural resources, however these resources were not yet optimized as feed materials for farmers. Even though suffice feeding frequency was properly administered by farmers, this did not fully meet the goat necessity of vegetation feed. In addition, the nutrition content from dry material and protein from feed used by farmers showed values below standard of dry material and crude protein required by Boerawa goat. The conclusion is that the nutrition status of feed material used by farmers in Boerawa goat production centers is under nutrition.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the potential and the capasities of pineapple’s leaves in                   PT. Great Giant Pineapple Terbanggi as the ruminant’s feed.  This research was held in June 2013 until August 2013 in PT. Great Giant Pineapple Terbanggi Besar, Central Lampung. This research uses the ‘purposive sampling’ survey method.  The data that would be used in this research consists of the primary data and secondary data.  The Primary data encompasses all information about the plantations that become the object of the research, for example, the planting area, the harvested area, the production wastes that will be produced and the wastes management.  The secondary data is a data that can be obtainable from the existing literature, including the information about the existing potential estates in Terbanggi Besar, Central Lampung.  The results of this research shows that the total wastes of the pineapple’s leaves in PT. Great Giant Pinneapple is ± 9.000 kg/ha. Carrying capacity for ruminant is 53.152 UT per year (40% assuming feed) and with 42.553 UT per year (50% assuming feed) can fulfill the necessity as alternative of ruminant’s feed.
