Abstract

This study aimed to determine the antibody titre against Newcastle Disease (ND) and AvianInfluenza (AI) in laying duck of grower phase. This study has been conducted in December 2013--January 2014 in Gadingrejo Subdistrict, Pringsewu District, Lampung Province. The method used inthis study were survey method and sample collecting by method of purposive sampling. The variableobserved was the antibody titre against Newcastle Disease and Avian Influenza. The data analysisused in this study was descriptive analysis. Based on the result of Hemaglutination Inhibition (HI) onAvian Influenza in laying duck of grower phase in Gadingrejo Subdistrict, there were 33% ducks thatshowed seropositive result on AI with the score of 21, 23, 26, 27, 25 and there were 67% ducks showedseronegative. Based on the result of HI test of Newcastle Disease in laying duck of grower phase inGadingrejo Subdistrict that showed seropositive result 19% with the titre score of 23, 24 and 81%ducks showed seronegative. The level of uniformity on AI was granted the score of 33% and the levelof uniformity on ND was 19%.

Abstract

The experiment was determine to physiological responses of laying hens grower phases atdifferent stocking density and determine the effect of stocking density best on the physiologicalresponses of laying hens grower phases. Research carried out for 3 weeks from 2 April to 23 April2014, in Varia Agung Jaya Farm, Varia Agung Village, District of seputih Mataram, LampungTengah Regency. Chicken laying hens used were 8-10 weeks of age grower phases as much as 210.This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of four treatments, replicatedfive times, namely P1: 6 m-2 tail cage density, P2: 9 m-2 tail cage density, P3: 12 m-2 tail cage density,P4: 15 m-2 tail cage density. The resulting data were analyzed by analysis of variance at the 5%significance level.The results show that stocking density 6, 9, 12 and 15 m-2 individuals per had no significanteffect (P<0.05) on physiological responses (respiratory rate, rectal temperature and temperatureshank) chicken laying grower phases.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of tumeric and curcumin on the amount of erythrocytes,leucocytes, and haemoglobin level in the broilers. This study was conducted from Frebruary –March 2013, in the unit of trial poultry house of Rama Jaya Lampung, located in Fajar Baru IIVillage, Jati Agung District, South Lampung. 180 Broilers strain Cobb were used in this study.This study consisted of three treatments, P0: usual drinking water; P1: tumeric boiled water 10g/600 ml; and P2: curcumin boiled water 10 g/600 ml. Each treatment consisted of 6 replicationswith 10 broilers for each replication. 1 broiler was taken from each block of 18 cage blocks forbeing a sample. Then, data obtained were variance analyzed by using significant level of 5% . Ifsignificant result was obtained on the variance analysis, Least Significantly Different Test wascontinued on the significant level of 5% (Steel dan Torrie, 1993).The result of this study showed that tumeric and curcumin were not significantly different(P>0,05) on the amount of erythrocytes, leucocytes, and haemoglobin level. The average of theamount of erythrocytes were P0 (1.128.333/mm3), P1 (1.440.000/mm3), dan P2 (1.386.667/mm3).The average of the amount of leucocytes were P0 (7.767/mm3), P1 (7.792/mm3), dan P2(7.908/mm3). The average of haemoglobin level were P0 (7,6 g/100ml), P1 (8,5 g/100ml), dan P2(8,5 g/100ml). On the treatments given with tumeric and curcumin, they had higher average oferythrocytes, leucocytes, and haemoglobin level than the one without treatments.

Abstract

The aim of this research was: 1) to determine the water content of the meat in Bandar Lapung abattoirs; 2) to determine the microbial quality of the meat in Bandar Lampung abattoirs. The research was conducted at March 2014 continously from Bandar Lampung abattoirs. The analysis of the water content was conducted in Laboratorium Nutrisi Ternak, Jurusan Peternakan while the analysis of the microbial quality conducted in Laboratorium Penguji Balai Veteriner Lampung. The method of research was survey. The obtain data was analyzed by using the descriptive quantitative analysis.The analysis shows that water content of the meat in Mrs. Mul’s abattoir were 71,92% and 71,55%. The total microbial count were 0,67 x105 CFU/g and 1,2 x105 CFU/g. The water content of the meat in H. Bustomi’s abattoir were 74,84% and 74,43%. The total microbial count were 0,46x105 CFU/g and 5,9 x105 CFU/g. The water content of the meat in H. Udin’s abattoir were 74,24% and 73,14%. The total microbial count were 4,9x 105 CFU/g and 0,088x105 CFU/g. The water content of the meat in Mr. Ampan’s abattoir were 72,22% dan 72,65%. The total microbial count were 4,4x105 CFU/g and 0,075x105 CFU/g. Based on the result, it was concluded that the meat from Bandar Lampung abattoirs were still proper for consumption.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of harvest age Indigofera zollingeriana in dry season on the content of Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF) and Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF). This research used a completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications. The treatment consisted of harvest age at 40 days, harvest age at 55 days, harvest age at 70 days, and harvest age at 85 days. Data were analyzed using Variance Analysis and post-hoc test of Least Significance Different (LSD). The parameters consisted of NDF and ADF. The results of this research indicate that Indigofera zollingeriana which was harvested at 55 days has the highest NDF content (81.61%) and has significantly different (P <0.01) than the NDF content at harvest age of 40 days (70.93%), harvest age 70 days (68.80%), and at harvest age 85 days (67.23%). In addition, Indigofera zollingeriana that was harvested at 55 days has ADF content (56.68%) and at 70 days of harvest had ADF content (54.24%) that was significantly different (P <0.01) compared to ADF content at harvest age of 40 days by 48.35% and the harvest age of  85 days bay 49,41%.  It was concluded that Indigofera zollingeriana at the harvest age of 55 days in the dry season was the best harvest age with its NDF content of 81.61% and the ADF content of 56.68%. Therefore, it is recommended to plant Indigofera zollingeriana in the dry season, and it should be harvested at the harvest age of 55 days. Keywords:   Acid Detergent Fiber, Dry season, Harvest Age, Indigofera zollingeriana, Neutral Detergent  Fiber

Abstract

Research on repeat breeders in Bali Cattles in Pringsewu Regency was held on December 2014 until January 2015 with 5 inseminators, 131 Bali Cattles that had been inseminated belong to 100 farmers. The purpose of this reserch are to know: 1) value repeat breeder of Bali Cattles in Pringsewu Regency,  2) the factors and magnitude factors which disturb repeat breeder of Bali Cattles in Pringsewu Regency. Data was analysis by logistic regression with SPSS (Statistics Packet for Social Science) program. The result showed that repeat breeder of Bali Cattles at Pringsewu Regency is 19,85%. Factors that affect the repeat breeder are education inseminator that negatively associated with factor value 1,466; the number of acceptors that negatively associated with factor value 0,390; old ranching that positively associated with factor value 0,067; the amount of provision of water that negatively associated with factor value 0,106; large cage that negatively associated with factor value 0,114; and sanitation stall that negatively associated with factor value 0,805.

Abstract

The aim of this research are to find: 1) the effects of addition of various kind levels of starter to crude fiber, crude fat, moisture content, extract material without nitrogen, in silage feed, 2) one of the best starter in increasing the nutrient content in silage feed. The research was conducted in December 2014 – Februari 2015 at Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung and in the Laboratory of Nutrition and Feed Livestock, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung.  The number of microbes was analyzed in Balai Veteriner Lampung.  The method in this research used completely randomized design.  The treatments was consisted of basal ration (R0), basal diet + stater EM4 (R1), basal diet + EM4 starter culture (R2), and the basal diet + starter rumen fluid (R3). The results showed that the addition of various kind levels of starter indicated significant effect (P<0.05) to moisture, very significant effect (P<0.01) to crude fat, but indicated not significant effect (P>0.05) to crude fiber and BETN of silage. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know data about the reproduction performance (service per conception, conception rate and calving interval) of Boerawa goat in Gedong Tataan and Gisting District. This research used survey method. The primary and secondary data was used analyzed by descrptively. The result showed that the service per conception in Gedong Tataan District is 1,35 and in Gisting District is 1,34; conception rate in Gedong Tataan District is 157,1 days and in Gisting District in 154,7 days; and calving interval in Gedong Tataan District is 277,123 days and  in Gisting District is 240,245 days.   Key words: Boerawa Goat, service per conception, conception rate, calving interval

Abstract

The experiment was conducted for 1 mounth from 27th August to 26th September 2012, in the village of Campang, District Gisting, Regency of Tanggamus. Goats are used is pasca-weaning Boerawa goat as many as 20 goats with an average initial weight of 18,25 ± 6,13 kg/goats. This research used randomized block design, consisting of four treatments, with repeated five times, they are R0: bassal feeding, R1: bassal feeding + concentrate (Crude Protein 13%), R2: bassal feeding + concentrate (CP 16%), and R3: bassal feeding + concentrate (CP 19%). The results shows: (1) a significant effect (P <0.05) additions concentrates on bassal feeding to organic matter digestibility Boerawa goats pasca-weaning, the opposite effect was not significant (P>0.05) for dry matter digestibility, and (2) the best effect of the addition of concentrates in the bassal feeding to organic matter digestibility.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1 ) study the effect of kecombrang (Nicolaia speciosa Horan) flower powder on the physical properties consistif of the texture , water holding capacity , and cooking loss meat broiler, 2) knowing the best dose kecombrang (Nicolaia speciosa Horan) flower powder as a preservative broiler meat . Research was conducted on 8 September 2015 in Laboratory Animal Production and Reproduction Univeritas Lampung while for the analysis of physical properties of broiler meat made ​​on 9 September 2015 at the Laboratory of Agricultural Technology , Politeknik Negeri Lampung.  The method used completely randomized design (CRD) , consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatments are: 1) P0: 0% kecombrang flower powder rate; 2)  P1: 2 % kecombrang flower powder; 3) P2: 4 % kecombrang flower powder; 4) P3: 6 % kecombrang flower powder. Data were analyzed variance at 5%. If the results of the analysis show real results , then the test continued with Least Significant Difference (LSD) at 5%.  The results showed that administration of kecombrang flower powder on broiler meat significantly (P<0,05) water holding capacity and cooking losses and no significant effect (P > 0.05 ) on the texture. Award kecombrang flower powder at dose of 6% show broiler meat quality better when compared with other treatments. (Keywords : kecombrang flower powder, broiler meat, texture, water holding capacity and, cooking loss).
