Abstract

The aim of this research was to know kind of carbohydrate as energy sources in skim egg yolkextender. This study was conducted on April 11th --18 th 2014 at Regional Technical Service Unit-Regional Artificial Insemination Office Lampung, Terbanggi Besar District, Central LampungRegency, Lampung Province.The Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used in these researchwith three treatments and three repetitions. The treatment consist of P1 (glucose supplementation 2%),P2 ( fructose supplementation 2%) and P3 (sucrose supplementation 2%). The data obtained wasanalyzed by using variance analysis 5%.Results of this research showed that there was no significantly (P>0.05) between provision of glucose,fructose although sucrose that added in each skim egg yolk extender towards the motility of spermcells and life percentage.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine temperature and duration of thawing in thelowlands the frozen semen of Simmental Cattle most optimal for use in IB. The study was conductedin March 2014, research was conducted using a completely randomized design with a 3x3 factorial.The first factor is the temperature (34°C, 37°C, and 40°C) and Factor II thawing time (10 seconds, 15seconds, and 20 seconds) with 3 replications. Parameters observed in this study is the motility ofspermatozoa and percentage of live spermatozoa. The data were analyzed using ANOVA andDuncan's test further the 5% level.The results showed that temperature and thawing significant (P<0,05) on sperm quality frozensemen of Simmental cattle, but has no interaction between them. Results of Duncan test (P<0,05) tothe most good quality spermatozoa obtained at 37ºC thawing temperatures, and thawing at 15 secondslong. Motility of spermatozoa at thawing temperatures 37ºC is 38.33% and thawing 15 seconds longis36.11%. The percentage of live spermatozoa at thawing temperatures 37ºC is40.78% and thawing 15seconds long is 38.33%.

Abstract

Turkey meat has a high protein and low fat when compared with some other animal meat.Breeding companies commonly use hen age variation to maintain the availability of seed, hen agevariations lead to differences in performance hatching (fertility, weight loss, hatchability, andhatching weight). This study aims to: (1) determine the effect of hen age on fertility, weight loss,hatchability, and hatching weight of turkeys egg, (2) determine the best hen age of the on fertility,weight loss, hatchability, and hatching weight of turkeys egg. Research was conducted on March1 to April 12, 2013, held at the Mitra Alam Ranch Turkeys Partners Sukoharjo 1, DistrictSukoharjo, Pringsewu District. Eggs used are turkey eggs as much as 72 points. This research usedCompletely Randomized Design (CRD), with three treatments, namely P1 (egg from 9 months ofhen age), P2 (egg from11 months of hen age), and P3 (egg from 13 months of hen age). Thetreatment was repeated 6 times, and each experiment each unit consists of 4 eggs. Results of thisstudy showed that hen age was not a real is different (P> 0.05) on fertility, weight loss, andhatchability. However, the hen age showed significant differences (P <0.05) on hatching weight,and 13 month of hen age treatment gives the best effect on hatching weight.

Abstract

The purpose of this study were to (1) investigate the effects of storage time and eggshell colour of tegal duck eggs on the internal egg quality, (2) determine eggshell colour with the different storage time on score of haugh unit, pH of albumen, pH of yolk, and yolk colour. A total 72 duck egg with Completely Randomized Nest Design was used in this study. The treatments consist of 3 storage time (0, 7, and 14 days) as the main plot factor, 2 treatments eggshell colour (bright and dark) as the nest plot factor and 4 replications. Orthogonal contrast test done if there is a real variable. Based on the result showed that duck eggshell colour (bright and dark) treatments on storage time 0, 7, and 14 days did not provide significant effect on score haugh unit, pH of albumen, pH of yolk, and yolk colour of tegal duck eggs. The treatment eggshell colour (bright and dark) with a shell thickness of 0.01 mm difference with storage time 0, 7, and 14 days give the same contribution on the internal duck egg quality.

Abstract

Different percentages of crude fiber in rations can affect the performance type of medium rooster such as ration consumption, body weight gain, conversion ratio, and income over feed cost (IOFC). Rooster medium type is an important source of animal protein to meet their daily nutritional needs. This study aims to: (1) determine the effect of rations with different percentages of crude fiber on performance rooster type medium and (2) determine the best coarse fiber content in the diet on performance rooster type of medium. This study was conducted in 12 September until 20 October 2014 located in the cage of Rama Jaya Farm, Karang Anyar, Jati Agung court, South Lampung regency. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. Ration percentage of crude fiber are R0:4%, R1:6%, R2:8%, and R3:10%. Data obtained was statistically tested to determine the effect of treatments to the variables observed by variance analysis. Then, it was continued by using Least Significant Different (LSD) on significant level 5%. The result of this study showed that (1) ration with different percentages of crude fiber was not significant (P>0.05) to ration consumption, body weight gain, conversion ratio, and income over feed cost on roosters type of medium. (2) rations with different percentages of crude fiber was give equally good effect on ration consumption, body weight gain, conversion ratio, and income over feed cost on roosters type of medium.

Abstract

The purpose of this research were to know 1) the effect of probiotic local microbial to quality of albumen index, yolk index and yolk color; 2) the optimal of probiotic level in feed against to albumen index, yolk index and yolk color. The research was conducted on December 20th 2014-- January 19th 2015 in CV.Varia Agung Jaya , Varia Agung Village, Seputih Mataram Sub district, Central Lampung regency. Manufacture of probiotic from local microbial was made on 8 to 19 December 2014 at the Laboratory of Microbiology Faculty, University of Lampung. This research used completely randomized design (CRD) with four probiotic treatments of local microbial (0%, 1%, 2% and 3%) with 5 replications and use 40 layers. The data were analyzed with the assumptions of variance. Based on these result it can be concluded that probiotic local microbial (0%, 1%, 2% and 3%) was not significant (P> 0.05) on the quality of albumen index, yolk index and yolk color. Abstract

The potency of rice bran which could be used as the cattle fare in 2011 was + 6,539 billion ton. The problem in using rice bran as fare product was the low stability because of hydrolysis and oxidation rancidity. The hydrolysis and oxidation rancidity was happened during the saving could spoil the quality of the rice bran, especially the lipid contents. The one of the way which could be used to avoid the process of hydrolysis and lipid oxidation in rice bran was by adding the charcoal. The charcoal contents carbon which could adsorb H2O and its pores could tie O2 molecule. This research was purposed (1) to know the influence of using wood charcoal and coconut shell charcoal toward the quality of rice bran which was saved in 6 weeks; (2) to know which one was the best treatment based on the physical characteristic and chemichal composition of rice bran which was in storage with wood charcoal and coconut shell charcoal in 6 weeks. The scheme of the experiment in this research was used random complete experiment with 3 treatments, each treatment was repeated 4 times. If the result of varian analysis was obviously influenced at one variety, so the next experiment would be done with the least obvious different experiment at obvious level 5% and 1%. The result of this research showed that the use of wood charcoal and coconut shell charcoal obviously influence (P<5%) toward the smell and water proportion and very obviously influence (P<1%) toward the number of rice bran peroxida which was in a storage in 6 weeks. Coconut shell charcoal was the best media in rice bran saving in 6 weeks because it produced the smell that was not rancid and the lowest peroxida number (6,39 + 0,07 meq/kg). Abstract

This study aims to optimize the utilization of agro-industry waste through supplementation ofhydrolyzed chicken feather and organic minerals in the ration as an effort to improve the digestibilityof crude protein and crude fiber in ruminant. This study used 3 beef cows. The experimental designused is a Latin square design 3x3 with 3 cows as a rows and 3 periods as columns. The treatmentgiven is R0: basal diet (30% + 70% forage concentrate) ; R1: basal diet + 3% hydrolyzed chickenfeathers ; R2: organic macro mineral (0.5% organic Ca, Mg 0.04% organic) and organic microminerals (40 ppm organic Zn, 10 ppm Cu organic, organic Se 0.10 ppm, and 0.30 ppm of organic Cr).The data obtained were tested by analysis of variance. The results showed that the effect of theaddition of hydrolyzate chicken feathers 3% NaOH and organic macro and micro minerals in the dietwas not significantly different (P> 0.05) on the digestibility of protein and crude fiber in the ration ofcattle rations.

Abstract

Lampung Province as a livestock area resulted in needed for food supplies that available onfollow throughout the years, so the attempted of feed based on agriculture waste industry, one of themis pineapple leaves. However, the pineapple leaves in a fresh condition have a high crude fiber contentand low protein content. Therefore, the pineapple leaves will be ammoniateed with urea addition atdifferent dosages in order to lessen the high fiber content. This study aimed to determine the effect ofurea and the best dosage on ammoniation of pineapple leaves of Smooth cayene variety onorganoleptic (color, texture, smell), dry matter, ash, and crude fiber content.This study was held in the Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Feed, Department of AnimalHusbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, Lampung University and pineapple leaves samples obtained fromPT Great Giant Pineapple, Terbanggi Besar, Central Lampung. The treatments using a CompletelyRandomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. The treatments consist of ureaaddition at a dosage of 0%; 1,5%; 3% and 4,5%. The observation data were analyzed by usingvariance analysis with significant level of 5% and or 1%, and will be followed by the Least SignificantDifference test (LSD) if the value of the variance analysis showed the significant result.The results of this study showed that urea addition at different dossages had no significant effect(P>0,05) on organoleptic (color, texture, smell) and crude fiber content of pineapple leaves, butsignificantly (P<0,05) to the ash content and was highly significant (P<0,01) to the dry matter. Thebest treatment on ammoniation of pineapple leaves of Smooth cayenne variety is urea addition atdosage of 1,5%.
