Abstract

Sargassum is a macroalgae in tropical and subtropical waters. Sargassum sp. contains Mg, Na, Fe, tannin, iodine, and phenol. This study aims to determine the antibacterial potential of Sargassum sp. extract in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Samples were dried in the sun and then pureed using a blender and extracted by maceration method, for 7 days with methanol solvent at a ratio of 1: 3, evaporated using a rotary vacuum evaporator and water bath to get extract results. Antibacterial activity was tested using the disc diffusion method against various concentrations of extracts, namely 10,000, 5000, 1000, 100, 10, and the control. The results showed that this study implies that Sargassum sp. extract has potential as a natural antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus. Still, its effectiveness is determined by the extraction method and concentration used.

Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a well known aquaculture fish commodity in Indonesia. The fermentation process of feed is a technology to increase the protein of raw materials. The purpose of this research is to find out and evaluate the effect of feed fermentation on survival, long and heavy growth, feed conversion, protein retention and water quality on tilapia who maintenance with bioflok system. The study was conducted for 60 days using tilapia fish with an average length of 5 cm and an average weight of 2 grams / tail, then maintained with a bioflok system. The treatment will be fermented for 1 day using EM4 in feed with 25%, 20%, 15%, and 25% unfermented protein feed control. The results of this study showed a real influence on the absolute long growth parameters with the highest values in P2 with a value of 2.4 cm and the lowest in P3 and P4 with the same value of 1.8 cm. at the specific long growth rate the highest value at P2 is 0.86%/day and the lowest in P3 and p4 with the same value of 0.7%/day. Then protein retention, the best treatment value is in P2 with a value of 5.5% and the lowest in P4 with a value of 3.1%.

Abstract

Based on data from KKP, Indonesia recorded the value of crab meat exports in2017 ranked 3rd largest after Tuna and shrimp, namely by value nearly $ 411 million. This makes the crab catching volume increased. But there is a quality crab that is not always in condition good because of the disease that often attacks crab. Disease caused by parasites that affect population reduction and decrease in body weight of the organism, this is what causes the occurrence of consumer rejection. Attacks from ectoparasites can cause harm organs in the host organism, among others, damage to the body surface and  the gills of the host. This study aims to find out identification, intensity and prevalence of ectoparasites found in crab in Margasari Village Waters, Labuhan Maringgai District, East Lampung Regency. This study includes taking 40 crab samples obtained from the catch of fishermen from two stations, Panceran and Gambas stations. The data of ectoparasite samples found from the examination results are then recorded and for ectoparasite attacks on crab can be analyzed by counting prevalence and intensity. Crab ectoparasites identified in the Margasari village, Labuhan Maringgai, East Lampung Regency, among others Octolasmis sp., Chelonibia sp., and Thompsonia sp. In this study Thompson sp. it is the highest intensity crab ectoparasite, amounting to 471 / individual while Chelonibia sp. the Panceran station has a moderate prevalence of 33%, and other ectoparasites have low prevalence throughout the station

Abstract

Humpback grouper (Cromileptes altivelis) is an important commodity in Indonesian. This study aims to report the parasitic humpback grouper worms from eight floating net cages, as well as to observe the histological pathogenesis caused by parasites. May 2019, a total of 80 humpback groupers are used for parasitological and histopathological analysis. Monogenean trematodes Neobenedenia girellae, and Haliotrema epinepheli are found in fish examined. Histopathological analysis showed necrosis, congestion, partial fusion, epithelial hyperplasia, haemorrhage, and telangiectasia. It is important to know monogenean parasites from cultivated fish and pathogenesis caused by parasites to ensure fish production and host health.

Abstract

Geographically, indonesia is natural resource countries which have large marine biodiversity, one of these is the coral reefs ecosystem. Sponge is one of any animal of the phylum porifera and a marine invertebrates that live in coral reefs ecosystem. Stylissa massa sponge can produce these secondary of metabolic processes in cells in his body. Many research stated that extracts of sponges having compound that is the sitotoksin bioaktif, anti tumor, antiviral drug, anti inflammatory and others. Stylissa massa is one species of sponge that characterizes demospongiae class, phylum porifera, and kingdom animalia. The study aimed to identify the activity of extracts antimikroba Stylissa massa on several pathogens derived from waters and land, and this study also to determine the level of toxicity Stylissa massa extract with Brine Shrim Lethality Test (BSLT). The antibacterial activity Stylissa massa extract against MDR S. aureus, MDR E.coli, Vibrio vulnivicus, Vibrio parahameolyticus, Vibrio alginoliticus, Vibrio harveyi, Salmonella thypi, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Aeromonas hydrophyla. The results showwed that the extract of Stylissa massa hase been created inhibition zone against all of the pathogen used. S.aureus bacteria at the smallest extract concentration (10 ppm) has created inhibition zone 8,68 mm and at the highest extract concentration (10.000 ppm) has created inhibition zone 10,83 ppm. The results of the analysis by using a graph indicating that probit LC50 extract Stylissa massa is 100 µg/mL, from the data can be concluded that extracts sponges stylissa massa have cytotoxic potential.Keyword: Sponge, Stylissa massa, extract, antibacterial, BSLT

Abstract

One of major problem of siamse catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) culture is Edwardsiliosis bacterial disease of Edwardsiella ictaluri, causes economic losses because it causes high mortality and reduces the quality of fishery products. Currently, the use of antibiotics as an effort to control the disease has been prohibited due to the impact of residual hazards, resistance and decreased food safety value. Therefore we need an alternative solution that is effective, efficient and applicable through the vaccines application. The aim of this research was to analyze the effectiveness of the Whole cell Edwardsiella ictaluri vaccine with different doses and different application methods to protect Siamese catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) from Edwardsiellosis disease. The research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) method consisting of 3 methods, namely oral vaccine, immersion vaccine, and injection vaccine. Each method consisted of 4 different dose treatments with 3 replications. The results showed that the vaccine application using different methods resulted in different survival rates, relative survival rates, specific growth rates and mean time to death. The oral vaccine method using each different dose resulted in the best survival rate, relative survival percentage, and mean time to death. The immersion vaccine method with a dose of 10.9 resulted in the highest specific growth rate.
