Abstract

Humpback grouper (Cromileptes altivelis) is an important commodity in Indonesian. This study aims to report the parasitic humpback grouper worms from eight floating net cages, as well as to observe the histological pathogenesis caused by parasites. May 2019, a total of 80 humpback groupers are used for parasitological and histopathological analysis. Monogenean trematodes Neobenedenia girellae, and Haliotrema epinepheli are found in fish examined. Histopathological analysis showed necrosis, congestion, partial fusion, epithelial hyperplasia, haemorrhage, and telangiectasia. It is important to know monogenean parasites from cultivated fish and pathogenesis caused by parasites to ensure fish production and host health.

Abstract

Sargassum is a macroalgae in tropical and subtropical waters. Sargassum sp. contains Mg, Na, Fe, tannin, iodine, and phenol. This study aims to determine the antibacterial potential of Sargassum sp. extract in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Samples were dried in the sun and then pureed using a blender and extracted by maceration method, for 7 days with methanol solvent at a ratio of 1: 3, evaporated using a rotary vacuum evaporator and water bath to get extract results. Antibacterial activity was tested using the disc diffusion method against various concentrations of extracts, namely 10,000, 5000, 1000, 100, 10, and the control. The results showed that this study implies that Sargassum sp. extract has potential as a natural antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus. Still, its effectiveness is determined by the extraction method and concentration used.

Abstract

Sistem akuaponik adalah sistem pertanian yang menyatukan budidaya perikanan dengan budidaya tanaman khususnya sayuran tanpa media tanah (hidroponik). Sistem ini dikenal mampu mengatasi permasalahan keterbatasan lahan dikarenakan dapat diaplikasikan di lahan yang sempit seperti pekarangan rumah menggunakan terpal berukuran 2x2 m2 untuk budidaya ikan dan pipa untuk tempat budidaya sayuran. Dengan kemudahan tersebut, sistem ini dapat diterapkan oleh siapapun baik sebagai hobi maupun untuk bisnis yang menjanjikan.Masyarakat Desa Pulau Pahawang yang berlokasi di kawasan Teluk Lampung masih belum mengetahui teknik budidaya dengan sistem akuaponik ini. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian masyarakat yang kami lakukan menggabungkan pengalaman, pengetahuan dan teknologi di bidang perikanan modern serta pertanian hidroponik yang ramah lingkungan dan berkelanjutan sehingga diharapkan mampu berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan perekonomian masyarakat di Desa Pulau Pahawang, khususnya Dusun Kalangan. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah membantu dan membimbing masyarakat Dusun Kalangan, Pahawang untuk melakukan budidaya ikan nila salin (Oreochromis niloticus) yang kemudian diintegrasikan dengan tanaman sayur-sayuran melalui metode akuaponik. Selain itu akuaponik tersebut dapat dijadikan salah satu destinasi wisata ketika ada pengunjung yang datang ke Dusun Kalangan.

Abstract

Marine debris atau sampah laut dapat didefinisikan sebagai bahan padat yang sengaja maupun tidak sengaja masuk ke lingkungan laut dengan cara dibuang secara langsung maupun tidak langsung dengan cara masuk dari arah daratan melalui sungai. Sampah laut memiliki dampak yang sangat luas, terutama pada ekosistem pesisir dan laut. Tidak sedikit biota laut yang dapat terjerat, terluka, atau bahkan menelan sampah laut. Melihat besarnya dampak yang ditimbulkan oleh sampah laut maka penyadaran masyarakat mengenai bahaya sampah laut sangat penting. Penyadaran masyarakat diperlukan untuk memberikan wawasan agar masyarakat lebih peduli terhadap lingkungan sekitarnya terutama pada wilayah ekosistem pesisir dan laut.Masyarakat Desa Way Lubuk yang berlokasi di kecamatan Kalianda memiliki potensi sumberdaya alam ekosistem pesisir dan laut yang cukup melimpah. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian masyarakat yang kami lakukan menggabungkan pengalaman dan pengetahuan di bidang marine debris sehingga diharapkan mampu memberikan dorongan bagi masyarakat untuk melakukan kegiatan coastal cleanup secara berkala dalam upaya mengurangi jumlah serta dampak sampah laut bagi ekosistem pesisir dan laut di wilayah Desa Way Lubuk.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini merupakan kegiatan yang dilakukan untuk membedakan sampah berdasarkan jenisnya. Tujuan dari pilah pilih sampah dapat meningkatkan nilai dari sebuah sampah yang saat ini masih banyak dianggap sebagai barang sisa saja. Beberapa jenis sampah anorganik seperti botol plastik, maupun kemasan lainnya memiliki nilai ekonomi tertentu sehingga dapat menjadi salah satu upaya untuk mengurangi sampah yang terbuang secara percuma dengan meningkatkan nilai jualnya. Salah satu wilayah pesisir di Provinsi Lampung yang memiliki permasalahan sampah laut adalah wilayah pesisir Kecamatan Bumi Waras Kelurahan Bumi Waras. Pada wilayah tersebut pengelolaan sampah belum dilakukan secara optimal, banyak masyarakat yang membuang sampah secara langsung ke lautan hingga menumpuk di wilayah pesisir.Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan yaitu melalui edukasi kepada masyarakat. Dengan demikian, kegiatan pilah pilih sampah dapat membuat masyarakat memiliki kesadaran untuk membuang sampah berdasarkan jenisnya pada tempat sampah yang telah tersedia. Penerapan kegiatan edukasi pilah pilih sampah diharapkan akan mendukung salah satu upaya mitigasi sehingga dapat mengurangi bencana akibat pencemaran sampah laut dikawasan pesisir khususnya Kecamatan Bumi Waras. Rencana program pengabdian masyarakat ke wilayah pesisir Kecamatan Bumi Waras adalah penyampaian materi sampah laut, pengenalan materi dampak sampah laut pada eksosistem, pengenalan materi jenis-jenis sampah, pengantar teori dan teknik memilah sampah , dan melakukan pendampingan selama program berlangsung.

Abstract

Currently, the threat to sea turtle conservation is still quite high both by natural and anthropogenic (human) factors. Therefore, we try to make efforts in sea turtle conservation, through transferring sea turtle eggs to a semi-natural nest. Subsequently, the rearing of hatchlings that successfully hatched from semi-natural nests. Based on these factors, it is important for us to know how to preserve Lepidochlys olivacea and to analyze the physical and chemical parameters of hatchling rearing. The method of rearing the sea turtles after hatching at the research site has 3 stages, namely moving the newly hatched baby turtles from semi-natural nests to the rearing tanks, 30-day rearing actions in the holding tanks (feeding, changing water, and checking water quality) and releasing the sea turtles to their natural environment, namely the open sea. From the data that has been taken for 30 days, the average temperature results were found to be 26-28oC, for salinity data of 22-25 ppm and for DO data of 7.7-7.9. The measured DO data is still under the range of PP 22 of 2021 Appendix VIII concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management.

Cytobacillus kochii GSD can produce fucoidanase enzyme with low molecular weight.     Abstract Extensive research has shown that low molecular weight fucoidan exhibits significantly greater biological activity than its high molecular weight. C. kochi GSD, a Sargassum symbiont bacterium, is proven to have the activity of hydrolyze fucoidan. This study proposes the growth optimization and fucoidanase enzymatic activity of C. kochii GSD bacteria under varying environmental conditions (temperature, pH, and salinity) cultured in basic liquid medium (BLM) for 48 hours. Based on Response Surface Methodology (RSM), the range of temperature, pH, and salinity for the growth optimization test of C. kochi GSD bacteria were 26.591, 30, 35, 40, and 43.49oC, the pH used starts from 3.636, 5, 7, 9, and 10.363, while the salinity to be used starts from 3.522, 5, 17.5, 30, and 38.522 ppt, respectively. The best conditions for growth of each environment were then continued with the test of fucoidanase enzyme activity in vitro. The results showed that C. kochii GSD bacteria grew optimally at temperature, pH, and salinity of 35oC, 7, and 30 ppt, respectively. The optimum enzyme activity of C. kochii GSD is at 72 hours with the forming of clear zones on media containing fucoidan and given Cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) solution with clear zone diameters of 31.17 mm (temperature), 25.9 mm (pH), and 20.97 mm (salinity), respectively. The conclusion of this study is a high novelty finding to produce low molecular weight fucoidan enzymatically with C. kochii GSD bacteria to be used as an immunostimulant.

Abstract

This community service promotes a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to modern fisheries, benefiting the surrounding community's economy. Probiotic technology applied for cultivating duck groupers in floating net cages at Sari Ringgung Beach, Hanura Village, Teluk Pandan District, Pesawaran. Utilizing probiotics in floating net cages enables fish growth to 3x3x3 m in size, with each cage holding a maximum of 300 fish. The average weight of the harvested fish is 400-500 grams, resulting in a total production of 150 kilograms of fish. The activity collaborated with lecturers from the Program Study of Marine Science, Aquaculture, and Agricultural Product Technology, involving students of the Program Study of Marine Science, and partners of the Bina Usaha II fish farmer group in Ringgung Village.  The partners' contribution was to prepare a place for training and manufacturing practices. Activities that the team has carried out include giving pretest and posttest questionnaires, coordinating with partners for tools and materials, and applying probiotics to fish. Thus, duck grouper farmers who use probiotics in floating net cages can minimize the operational costs of cage maintenance and increase survival rates. The application of the technology is supported by the optimization of the aquaculture process so that the production and marketing activities of the products can be increased.
