Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a period of transition to adulthood marked by physical, psychological, and social changes. Lack of knowledge can lead to anxiety and risky behaviors. Puberty education needs to be provided from an early age, one of which is through video media that is interesting and easy to understand because it presents visual and audio information.Objective: This study aims to determine the influence of video education on adolescents' knowledge about puberty.Methods: This study uses a quantitative approach with quasi experimental (the one group pretest-posttest) method which was carried out at SMP N 2 Sentolo with a population of 128 grade VII students. The sample in this study amounted to 64 class VII respondents who were selected through the stratified random sampling method. The instrument used was a knowledge questionnaire about puberty. Data analysis was carried out univariate and bivariate using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.Results: The results of the study showed that puberty knowledge before being educated using video had good knowledge (46.9%). Then after being given education using video, it increased to good knowledge (96.9). The results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test were obtained with a value of p = 0.000Conclusion: There is an influence of video education on adolescents' knowledge about puberty at SMP N 2 Sentolo

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy often cause discomfort, anxiety, and fear due to hormonal and physical changes in mothers. One way to overcome these problems is through yoga. Practicing yoga during pregnancy is a useful self-help method to reduce discomfort, support the birthing process, and prepare mentally for the postpartum period. One yoga technique, Yoga Nidra, a form of Savasana, helps relax the body physically and psychologically.Objective: To determine the effectiveness of Yoga Nidra in reducing anxiety levels among pregnant women at Puskesmas Kasihan I.Methods: This quantitative study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest without control. The population consisted of 53 pregnant women at Puskesmas Kasihan I. The sample included 16 third-trimester women selected randomly and given Yoga Nidra four times. Primary data were collected using questionnaires, while secondary data came from medical records. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-testResults: The Sig (2-tailed) value was 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. Conclusion: Yoga Nidra effectively reduces anxiety among pregnant women at Puskesmas Kasihan I.

Abstract

Background: Women of reproductive age (WORA) are a group prone to anemia, one of which is due to folic acid deficiency which plays a role in DNA synthesis and erythrocyte formation.Objective: The study aimed to determine the differences in hemoglobin and erythrocyte indices among women of reproductive age with folic acid supplementation.Methods: A quasi-experimental research on the design of one group pretest-posttest on 67 female students of Setia Budi University was conducted in October 2024–February 2025. Respondents aged 18-25 years, selected by purposive sampling, were given folic acid tablet supplement (Folavit® 0.4 mg) twice daily for 14 days. Primary data were obtained from hematology examinations taken before after the intervention with a hematology analyzer, showing changes in hemoglobin and erythrocyte indices. Test Wilcoxon Signed Rank to analyze the data.Results: The results showed significant increases in hemoglobin from 12.96 ± 0.93 g/dL to 13.53 ± 0.91 g/dL (p<0.001), MCV from 85.54 ± 4.36 to 86.39 ± 4.14 (p<0.001), MCH from 27.61 ± 2.12 pg to 28.20 ± 2.06 pg (p<0.001), and MCHC from 33.05 ± 1.62% to 33.74 ± 1.56% (p<0.001) after folic acid supplementation.Conclusion: Folic acid supplementation increased hematological status and may serve as a preventive strategy against anemia in women of reproductive age.

Abstract

Background: Reflecting on the earthquake that struck Palu City, it was revealed that the Palu City BPBD's preparedness was not optimal in disaster management efforts, including pre-disaster, emergency response, and post-disaster stages. Based on the results of a preliminary study conducted by researchers through interviews with Palu City BPBD employees, it was shown that employees were not optimal in disaster emergency response and participating in disaster management training. Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between attitudes, emergency response plans, and disaster mobilization with disaster preparedness among Palu City BPBD employees.Methods: This type of research is quantitative research with an analytical design and uses a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was 83 Palu City BPBD employees with total sampling. Data analysis was carried out using univariate and bivariate methods.Results: The results of the study indicate a relationship between attitudes (p-value=0.035), emergency response plans (p-value=0.042), and resource mobilization (p-value=0.046) with disaster preparedness among employees at the Palu City BPBD.Conclusion: It is recommended that the Palu City BPBD strengthening attitudes of employees through regular training and simulations, developing detailed, scenario-based emergency response plans, and ensuring resource mobilization.

Abstract

Background: In Indonesia, stunting is still a major public health concern, especially during the First 1000 Days of Life (HPK). Prevention efforts require a contextual and culturally based educational approach. One potential forum is Partamiangan Marga, a regular family gathering that can serve as a medium for health education. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of health education through Partamiangan Marga in improving community knowledge and attitudes towards stunting prevention during the 1000 HPK period. Method: This research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test methodology. The research participants consisted of 35 members of Partamiangan Marga who engaged in health counseling. The research tool utilized was a standardized questionnaire designed to assess knowledge and attitudes prior to and during the intervention. Data were evaluated utilizing a paired t-test with a significance threshold of 0.05.Results: The average knowledge score increased from 46.29 ± 12.208 to 85.29 ± 5.934, while attitudes increased from 45.20 ± 12.283 to 83.74 ± 3.592. The results of the statistical tests showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test, with a p-value of 0.001. Conclusion: Health education through Partamiangan Marga has been proven effective in improving community knowledge and attitudes towards preventing stunting during the 1000 HPK.

Abstract

Background: The formation of free radicals in the body can be prevented by administering antioxidants. The leaves of Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr. and Psidium guajava L. individually possess antioxidant activity. The combination of the two plants is expected to produce enhanced antioxidant activity.Objective: This study aimed to determine the DPPH free radical scavenging activity of a combination of Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr. and Psidium guajava L. leaf extracts.Method: Sample extraction was performed using Ultrasound Assisted Extraction (UAE) with ethanol (1:10 w/v). Each extract was subjected to phytochemical screening and tested for DPPH free radical scavenging activity using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. An independent SPSS T-test analysis was performed on the antioxidant activity data (IC₅₀ values) with a 95% confidence level.Results: The results of the phytochemical screening test showed that each extract contains alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolics, tannins, and saponins. The DPPH free radical scavenging activity of the standard quercetin produced an IC₅₀ value of 2.231 ppm, and the combination of Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr. and Psidium guajava L. leaf extracts (1:1) produced an IC₅₀ value of 19.454 ppm.Conclusion: The combination of Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr. and Psidium guajava L. has very strong DPPH free radical scavenging activity.

Abstract

Background: Interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) is common in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) undergoing hemodialysis. IDWG should not exceed 4.8% of the patient's dry body weight, or approximately 1.5–2.0 kg. Excessive IDWG can increase morbidity and mortality. Website-based complementary therapies can help patients manage their interdialysis symptoms at any time and on their own.Objective: To design and determine the validity of the website-based complementary therapy education media “Interdialysis Symptom Management” for ESRD patients.Methods: This research used the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) approach. This website-based educational media contains five menus: Home, PGTA, IDWG, Complementary Therapy, and Patient Journal. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and expert validation (material, language, and media experts). The study was also piloted on 15 hemodialysis patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta General Hospital. The data were analysed quantitatively.Results: Six experts' content validity results indicated that the media was highly feasible, with CVI scores of 0.92-1.00 (≥0.80). Field tests also revealed that the media was feasible for use, with an average score of 77.75%. The developed media was well received by the patients.Conclusion: Website-based complementary therapy proved to be very feasible and received positive feedback from ESRD patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Abstract

Background: Complementary feeding (MP-ASI) is provided from 6-24 months to meet children's nutritional needs no longer fulfilled by breast milk alone. In Indonesia, suboptimal MP-ASI practices contribute to nutritional problems and growth disorders in children.Purpose: To analyze the effect of MP-ASI provision on improving children's nutritional status.Methods: Quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design on 30 children aged 6-59 months in the Tayan Health Center working area, Sanggau Regency. Measurements conducted in April and August 2025. Nutritional status assessed using BB/U, TB/U, BB/TB, IMT/U, and LK/U indicators. Data analyzed with Wilcoxon Signed-Ranks Test (p<0.05).Results: Significant pre-post intervention differences (p=0.000). Most children (86.7%) improved nutritional status: BB/U good nutrition rose from 83.3% to 90%, BB/TB normal 63.3% to 73.3%, TB/U normal 63.3% to 73.3%, IMT/U good nutrition stable at 90% with 3.3% overweight risk, LK/U normal 70% to 80%. Conclusion: MP-ASI with nutrition education and active feeding effectively improves children's nutritional status and supports growth disorder prevention.

Abstract

Background: Dental ergonomics plays a crucial role in preventing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among dental professionals, including dental students who are beginning clinical practice. Studies from 2020–2025 indicate that although students possess basic ergonomic knowledge, its practical application remains low and MSD complaints are still prevalent, highlighting the need to examine differences in knowledge across educational stages. Objective: To assess and compare dental ergonomics knowledge between second-year and final-year dental students.Methods: This comparative analytical study with a cross-sectional design was conducted from January to April 2025 using a validated and reliable ergonomics knowledge questionnaire. Samples were selected through stratified random sampling from eligible second-year and final-year students. Data were analysed using the Mann-Whitney test.Results: A total of 158 students participated. The instrument demonstrated strong validity and reliability. As the data were not normally distributed, non-parametric analysis was applied. A significant difference in knowledge levels was found between the two groups (p = 0.035), with final-year students scoring higher.Conclusion: Dental ergonomics knowledge differed significantly by academic level, suggesting that longer academic exposure and preclinical experience contribute to improved understanding of ergonomics.

Abstract

Background: Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is a key health promotion and disease prevention strategy. However, household-level implementation remains suboptimal and is influenced by various sociodemographic factors.Objective: This study aimed to analyze sociodemographic factors influencing household Clean and Healthy Living Behavior. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 96 female respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the chi-square test. Results: The findings showed that 56.2% of households demonstrated poor PHBS practices. Education level (p=0.002), knowledge (p=0.000), and access to health services (p<0.05) were significantly associated with PHBS implementation. In contrast, income (p=0.753) and employment status (p=0.716) were not significantly related. The lowest-performing indicators included washing eating utensils in the river, smoking inside the house, and irregular physical activity. Conclusion: Household PHBS implementation is significantly influenced by education, knowledge, and access to health services. Strengthening health education and sustainable behavior change interventions is essential to improve PHBS practices.
