Abstract

Background: Health cadres have the potential to play a crucial role in community empowerment and disaster preparedness. Instruments are needed to support the development of comprehensive and efficient earthquake preparedness education programs for health cadres. Objective: This study assess the accuracy and consistency of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor instruments in carrying out earthquake disaster preparedness in health cadres. Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 90 respondents. Results: The results of this study showed that all (n=90) participants were women with an average age of 31 years with an average education of senior high school. All participants were active health cadres. The instrument used in the study was validated through content validity (Pearson Product Moment) and biserial correlation, as well as Cohen's kappa. Utilizing internal consistency reliability, this study found satisfactory inter-item reliability for all cognitive (0.703-0.722) and affective (0.671-0.700) items, as well as all psychomotor items (0.464-1.000).Conclusion: This instrument can be used to measure cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills of health cadres.

Abstract

Background: 90% of women who are of reproductive age, according to estimates worldwide experience premenstrual syndrome, which impacts mental well-being, quality of life, and academic achievement. If left untreated, it can lead to severe symptoms called Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD).Objective: To determine the effectiveness of acupressure and sweet corn moringa pudding on PMS in adolescent girls. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a pre- and post-test a control group design. The sample consisted of 56 adolescents with PMS who were divided into case and control groups. The sample collection technique used a purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, namely paired t-test and independent t-test to determine the differences in PMS scores between groups. Results: The average reduction in PMS scores was greater in the case group, at 14.39. There was a considerable difference in PMS scores before and after acupressure and sweetcorn moringa pudding in the case group (p<0.05), and there was a substantial difference in PMS scores between the case group and the control group after acupressure and sweetcorn moringa pudding (p<0.05)Conclusion: Acupressure and sweet corn moringa pudding can help reduce PMS in adolescents

Abstract

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a growing global health threat, where chronic hyperglycemia and insulin resistance can affect coagulation profiles. Objective: This study aims to examine coagulation factor profiles and platelet counts in T2DM patients. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional observational study using data from prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), international normalized ratio (INR), and platelet counts of T2DM patients admitted to the Internal Medicine Ward of Dr. M. Djamil General Hospital, Padang, in October 2023. Data analysis was performed descriptively using SPSS v26 software. Results: Of the 39 patients analyzed, the distribution of characteristics showed a male predominance of 64.1%, with the largest age group being 45–59 years (48.7%). The most common complication associated with T2DM was chronic kidney disease, identified in 82.1% of the study population. Evaluation of hemostasis parameters showed that APTT was prolonged in 56.4% of patients. Conversely, PT (87.2%), INR (87.2%), and platelet count (66.7%) were within reference ranges. Conclusion: This study found most coagulation parameters normal, but a relatively high proportion had prolonged APTT, underscoring the need for individualized coagulation monitoring in T2DM, especially with renal complications

Abstract

Background: Maternal health is a crucial aspect of pregnancy, requiring adequate healthcare access to ensure the well-being of both mother and fetus. However, various social, cultural, and economic factors influence healthcare utilization among pregnant women. Objective: This study aims to analyze the impact of trust and social norms on healthcare access among pregnant women in Ngalang, Gedangsari, Gunungkidul. Methods: A quantitative approach was employed using multiple regression analysis, with healthcare access as the dependent variable and trust and social norms as independent variables. Data were collected from mothers with young children (0–6 years) through a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and classical assumption tests were conducted to ensure data validity. Results: The results indicate that most respondents (76.3%) have high levels of trust and adherence to social norms, which significantly influence their utilization of healthcare services. The regression analysis shows a positive and significant relationship between trust, social norms, and healthcare access, with a determination coefficient (R²) of 19.4%.Conclusion: This suggests that while trust and social norms contribute to healthcare utilization, other factors also play a role. Additionally, traditional beliefs and limited health literacy may hinder healthcare access despite high trust levels.

Abstract

Background: Chronic diseases such. as heart. disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes mellitus. not only affect physical health but also impose a substantial psychological burden. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship. between self-concept and psychological hardiness among patients with chronic diseases at RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan. Methods: A quantitative correlational design was employed with 384 respondents selected through consecutive sampling. The instruments used were a self-concept scale based on Fitts’ theory and a psychological hardiness scale based on Maddi’s theory, both in the form of Guttman scales. Data analysis included validity, reliability, normality, linearity tests, and Pearson Product Moment correlation using SPSS version 25.Results: results showed a very strong and statistically significant positive correlation between self-concept and psychological hardiness (r = 0.814; p < 0.01). The empirical mean score of self-concept was 50.29 compared to the hypothetical mean of 30.50, while the empirical mean score of hardiness was 29.30 compared to the hypothetical mean of 17.00.Conclusion: A positive self-concept contributes to the enhancement of psychological hardiness, supporting therapy success and improving patients’ quality of life. Clinical implications highlight the importance of integrating psychosocial interventions to strengthen self-concept as part of holistic care for chronic disease patients.

Abstract

Background: The accurate use of medical terminology in clinical diagnosis is crucial for proper disease classification, coding accuracy, and reliable health data reporting. However, inconsistencies remain due to non-standard terminology and abbreviations that do not comply with the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10).Objective: This study aims to evaluate the conformity of physicians’ diagnostic terminology with ICD-10 and with the hospital’s official abbreviation guidelines. Methods: This descriptive quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted from March to July 2025 at RSKB Ropanasuri Padang. A 96 surgical patient medical records from 2024 were selected through simple random sampling. Diagnostic data were evaluated using a conformity checklist based on ICD-10 Volume 1 and 3 and the hospital’s standardized abbreviation guidelines. Results: : The results showed that not all diagnoses complied with ICD-10 terminology or abbreviation guidelines. Common discrepancies included non-standard abbreviations, inconsistent anatomical terminology, and non-specific terms such as “tumor” without further details. Conclusion: Concordance Physician’s diagnostic terminology with ICD-10 and Abbreviation guidelines remains inadequate. Strengthening standard operating procedures, enhancing clinician training in ICD-10 nomenclature, and establishing more structured coder–clinician communication are essential to ensure valid and reliable health data.
