Abstract

Background: The GATS research findings indicate that tobacco use in Indonesia is the highest worldwide among teenagers, with a percentage of 34.8% consumed by individuals aged 15 and above. Tobacco companies leverage this legality to market cigarettes widely to students, including university students. Smoke-free areas are government efforts to prevent smoking on campuses.Objective: To identify determinant factors affecting non-smoking behavior among smokers in smoke-free campus areas.Methods: This research study is descriptive quantitative with a cross-sectional design. It used a purposive sampling technique with criteria of 74 male smoker students from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at Universitas Prima Indonesia and was analyzed using a chi-square test.Results: The chi-square test analysis results indicated an effect between knowledge and attitude on non-smoking behavior in smoke-free campus areas with a P-value of 0.001.Conclusion: The research findings found that knowledge and attitude are determinant factors of non-smoking behavior among smokers in smoke-free campus areas.

Abstract

Background: The industrial sector is a vulnerable place for diseases, especially lung diseases such as asbestosis. Continuous exposure of workers to asbestos has caused the incidence rate to increase over time.Objective: This review aimed to explore the factors influencing the increased incidence of asbestosis in workers in the industrial sectoreMethods: The investigation involved analyzing the results of 17 relevant previous studies using qualitative analysis procedures, variables, themes and factors were extracted from the studies.Results: The analysis revealed eight main categories: age, gender, occupation, industry type, length of exposure, education, income and smoking history. Age, gender and length of exposure were found to be the most important risk factors for asbestosis in workers at an average age of 54 years in men who had been exposed for 21 years.Conclusion: In conclusion, with the increasing incidence of asbestosis from past exposure, this study is needed as an evaluation and consideration in reducing asbestosis in workers.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is one of the most common non-communicable diseases in Indonesia. Compliance with the use of antihypertensive medications is a major factor in the implementation of hypertension, which can affect a hypertensive patient's quality of lifeObjective: The aim of this study is to find out the relationship between compliance with antihypertensive drug use and the quality of life of hypertensive patients in Puskesmas Umbulharjo II.Methods: The study uses a cross-sectional analytical observational design with data collection on compliance level with MMAS-8 questionnaires and quality of life with the SF-36 questionnaire. The sampling technique purposively sampled 202 patients. Data analysis was done with the Spearman test.Results: The results of the study showed that the majority of patients aged >60 years (67.33%), female sex (65.84%), last high school education (42.08%), work as a householder (45.54%), have concomitant diseases (72.28%), suffer from hypertension for 1–5 years (43.77%), receive single therapy (92.57%), and the most frequently used type of antihypertensive drug is amlodipine (90.10%). The rate of compliance with the use of antihypertensive drugs is in the moderate category (37.62%), and the quality of life is in the high category (73.76%).Conclusion: There is a relationship between the level of compliance with antihypertensive medication use and the quality of life of hypertensive patients in Puskesmas Umbulharjo II (p-value=0,001).

Abstract

Background: Improving the quality of human life should commence right from infancy. One pivotal factor contributing to this enhancement is breastfeeding (or breast milk). Challenges concerning the limited coverage of exclusive breastfeeding persist due to insufficient empowerment and suboptimal education activities for breastfeeding counselors, as well as ineffective dissemination, advocacy, and related breastfeeding campaigns. Establishing breastfeeding support groups and cadre is imperative to support mothers in successfully breastfeeding. Objective: The research aimed to assess the impact of Promotion And Breastfeeding Counseling training on cadre’s skills.Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest, utilizing purposive sampling technique. The total sample size consisted of 53 respondents. Test data were analyzed using wilcoxon.Results: The result of the study was known that there was an effect of Promotion And Breastfeeding Counseling training on skills training cadres (0.000 p <0.05). Conclusion: Promotion And Breastfeeding Counseling training effect on the level of skills of cadres.

Abstract

Background: The parent's occupation factor is important because it can influence the quality of parenting, economic conditions, and family environment, all of which contribute to child development.Objective: This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between parental economic status, namely parental employment, and child growth and development.Method: The research uses survey methods with a quantitative approach. Data was collected from respondents of mothers with children aged 0-5 years. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square test to determine the significance of the relationship between parental employment and children's growth and development.Results: The study's results show a significant relationship between fathers' work and child growth, where children of fathers who work as laborers have the most normal growth. Meanwhile, maternal employment has a significant relationship with child development, with the highest normal development in children of mothers who do not work. However, maternal employment did not show an important relationship with child growth.Conclusion: This study concludes that the father's work has more influence on children's physical growth, while the mother's work has more influence on child development. These results show that parental employment characteristics have important implications for child development

Abstract

Background: Early diagnosis and screening being vital in preventing related deaths with servical cancer. Despite its importance, screening coverage in developing countries remains low. Healthcare workers play a key role in increasing coverage by educating and motivating the public. However, limited knowledge about cervical cancer screening hinders their practices.Objective: Explores cervical cancer screening practices among healthcare workers.Methods: A literature review was conducted using PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, identifying 2,163 articles. After filtering and applying inclusion criteria, 12 articles were selected. Inclusion criteria: 1) original research (2019-2024), 2) focuses on cervical cancer screening practices, 3) healthcare workers as subjects. Exclusion criteria: 1) studies not related to healthcare workers, 2) theses, reviews, abstracts, or proceedings.Results: Findings reveal that cervical cancer screening practices among healthcare workers are low, influenced by insufficient knowledge and negative attitudes. Knowledge is enhanced through training and active participation in screening activities. Regional demographic factors also impact healthcare workers' involvement in screening promotion.Conclusion: Training programs are critical to improving healthcare workers' knowledge and attitudes towards cervical cancer screening. Policymakers should implement robust monitoring and evaluation programs to sustain these efforts.

Abstract

Background: Pregnant women's knowledge regarding the use of birth balls has begun to be applied to overcome labor pain. However, this has not been implemented well, due to the lack of knowledge of pregnant women about the use of birth balls.Objective: The research aims to determine the effect of providing information on the use of the birth ball to pregnant women at TPMB M Cipendawa, Cianjur Regency in 2023.Methods: This research uses quantitative methods with a pre-experimental research design using a one-group pretest posttest design. The total sample was 15 respondents. The research instrument used a questionnaire sheet with a data collection method using primary data which was carried out in June-July 2023 with a pre-test and post-test.Results: The research results explain that a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) was obtained, which means that there is an influence of providing information on the use of birth balls for pregnant women.Conclusion: The results of the correlation analysis with the value (p-value 0.000) show that there is a significant influence between providing information on pregnant women's knowledge about the use of birth balls.

Abstract

Background: The earlier integration of IPE in the clinical environment makes students explore the roles and responsibilities of each profession through active learning. One application of IPE learning in disaster management can be applied with the Tabletop Disaster Exercise (TDE) method, this can help students develop IPC skills between health professionals and is very important to apply in managing critical condition situations. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of the application of TDE in the readiness of IPE learning on students of Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta.Methods: This research is a quasi experimental research. The research was conducted in June-August 2024 at the Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta. The sample size was 96 students, taken using purposive sampling. Results: There is a difference in readiness level between pre-test and post-test among respondents after TDE intervention (p value=0.000). There is a difference in the level of knowledge between pre-test and post-test among respondents after TDE intervention (p value=0.000).Conclusion: From the result of this research can be concluded that the application of TDE can have a significant effect on the readiness of IPE learning in health students of the Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Background: Disaster is an event or incident that threatens and disrupts people's lives.Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the readiness of pre-disaster financing in disaster risk reduction programs, disaster prevention programs, and disaster education at Palu City BPBD.Methods: This type of research is qualitative research with a case study approach. There are three informants in this study, namely key informants, ordinary informants, and additional informants. To obtain data, a technique is needed, therefore in this qualitative research the technique used is triangulation of techniques and sources.Results: The results showed that the budgeting for pre-disaster programs in Palu City is allocated annually, for the allocation of funds for disaster risk reduction programs is also the same. The budget for disaster prevention comes from the APBD and APBN, with or without a budget, Palu City BPBD can still run its disaster program. Disaster financing for disaster education programs at the Palu City BPBD comes from APBD and APBN funds.Conclusion: It is expected that financing for disaster risk reduction programs, disaster prevention programs, and disaster education at the Palu City BPBD must be allocated annually, and routine training must be carried out for staff.

Abstract

The objectives of the research are to determine: (1) How the implementation of clinical practicebasic skills learning, (2) How the cooperation arrangement between STIKES A. Yani with partners, (3) How the achievement of students, (4) constraints encountered in implementation of clinical practice learning basic skills. This research was conducted in STIKES A. Yani Yogyakarta for one month using qualitative research methods using case study and descriptive design. Subjects in this study are students who take the course Basic Skills Practice Clinic in the second semester, practice coordinator, Clinical Instructure, Diklat. Conclusions: (1) The practice of basic skills practice is already carried out in accordance with apredetermined schedule, and for setting a schedule determined by the practice field, (2) STIKESA. Yani Yogyakarta in cooperation with other institutions are always stated in the MOU, the practice of land Krikteri hospitals or public hospitals are type A / B / C, and health centers topractice basic skills practice, (3) Of the 296 students who carry out the practice of clinical practicebasic skills , Students who get an A as many as 72 people (24.32%) and the value of B shares of224 students (75.68%). Student achievement is also influenced by the level of their own confidence in doing a land perasat in practice, (4) The constraints faced in the course of practice the basic skills of clinical practice is bimbingan lecturers less intensive supervision, the practice ofland cases so that student achievement is less.
