Abstract

This study is aimed at investigating the household decision pattern in oil palm farming activities, analysing the household member labor and wage labor contribution to labor need. This study uses descriptive analysis methods an interview 90 palam oil households randomly selected. Decision-making patterns apply Sajogyo’s households decision-making pattern. This research was conducted in the District of Pondok Kelapa on March 25 - April 25 2019. The study found that decision-making in the households related to oil palm farming is dominated by the husband, as well as the implementation of farming activities. The research also concludes that husband contributes more than his wife in fullfiling labor needs. The contribution of wage labor results in dominating men wage labor. However, household labor has the largest contribution compared to wage labor.

Abstract

Semarang Regency has a great agro-tourism potential. Volcanic soil suitable for planting and cool temperatures support it to be a place of recreation. The study was conducted at Setiya Aji Flower Farm (SAFF), a chrysanthemum agro-tourism in Jetis village, Bandungan District, which is managed by farmer groups and local communities. The management is still very simple by utilizing the pre-harvest chrysanthemum flowers for tourism. SAFF was able to bring in 107,966 tourists during 2017, with an entrance ticket currently at Rp 7,500 generates substantial additional income for the people of Jetis village. Unfortunately, the number of tourists decreased until 65% to an average of 3,127 tourists per month in 2018. One of the causes of the reduction in tourist visits was the unpreparedness of the SAFF to face of competition with new tourist objects with similar themes around SAFF that were very well managed and continued growing. The purpose of this study was to estimate the willingness of visitors to pay for additional facilities at SAFF Bandungan, Semarang Regency. This study used the Contingency Assessment Method (CVM) to 110 visitors. The results showed that the majority of visitors are willing to pay for additional facilities at SAFF agrotourism. Willingness to pay (WTP) is estimated at level Rp 13,000. These results provide insights to the manager of SAFF to raise the entrance ticket by adding facilities at SAFF.

Abstract

Determination of leading commodities is needed to know the potential and prospective commodities that can be developed in an area. Leading commodities are expected to provide greater revenue compared to other commodities. This study aims to determine the leading agricultural subsector that has the potential to be developed as a driver of the economy in Magelang District. and analyze the trends in the growth patterns of subsector and leading agricultural commodities in the district. The method used in this study is descriptive method. The data used is time series data, namely secondary data from the GRDP of Magelang and Central Java Provinces in 2013-2017 and data on the amount of agricultural commodity production over a 7-year period (2011-2017). Data analysis tools used are Analysis of Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), and Klassen Typology Analysis.The results of the study shows that, horticultural plants, livestock, forestry and natural resources are base / leading subsectors of agricultural sector in Magelang District. The pattern and structure of the growth of the food crop subsector is among those that are rapidly developing, while the horticulture and livestock are among the advanced but depressed subsectors and the most advanced and fast growing food crops are sweet potatoes. On the other hand, the fast-growing group of horticultural commodities of vegetables are cabbage, cayenne pepper, tomatoes, cauliflower, cucumber, scallion, and carrots, whereas horticultural commodities in advanced and fast-growing fruit groups are rambutan and salak. In addition, the rapidly growing livestock commodities are cows, buffaloes, pigs, native chickens, and ducks. Finally the advanced but depressed commodities are goats and broilers.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to identify risk components, determine the priority of risk components and formulate a strategy for controlling priority risk components at each stage of the red pepper seed production process. Fuzzy FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) were used in this study. The findings of the study showed that production risk has 15 risk components from 6 variables. The highest risk components for each of the red chilli seed production processes, namely, failure in the nursery, seedlings die after planting, changing weather conditions, rotten chilli, damage to the seed release machine and chilli seed moisture content are not according to the standard. AHP calculation results obtained the highest value weighting on the criteria, namely maintenance. An alternative control strategy that has the highest weighting value was caring and maintaining the production environment.

Abstract

Bebandem Sub-district as one of the biggest Gula Pasir snake fruit producing regions that has several marketing system channels and has different prices in each channel. This research was conducted to determine the channel of Gula Pasir snake fruit marketing system, market structure, market conduct, and to find out the efficiency of the sugar snake fruit marketing system.The data used are quantitative data and qualitative data. The analysis used is descriptive qualitative analysis. The respondents of this study were 53 people consisting of 32 Gula Pasir snake fruit farmers and 21 traders. The marketing institutions involved are village level collecting traders, inter regency / city / island collectors and retailer. All respondents were determined using the snowball sampling method. The results of the study contained six marketing systems. Market structure at the farm level leads to medium concentration oligopsony market structure. Market conduct that occurs in the Gula Pasir snake fruit marketing system is already good, referring to the payment system and cooperation between farmers and marketing institutions. The trade fair channel VI is the shortest and most efficient channel with farmer's share of 67% and the trading margin of Rp. 500,000 / Kw.Keywords: Marketing System, Market Structure, Market Conduct, Efficiency Marketing, Gula Pasir Snake Fruit

Abstract

West Java as a province with the largest population that oversees many cities, one of which is that Bandung should be able to contribute to the Indonesian economy through the development of aspects of the image of a city which can also be called a city brand. This research will look at the forming components of Bandung, especially the Arjasari region which has not been maximized and can be improved, so as to create a good creative economic development in the Arjasari region and can be socially economically positive for the Arjasari community and the Indonesian people. The research was carried out with a qualitative approach through observations that are analyzed with hexagonal city brand components which are reinforced with literature study data. Through competitive strategies by developing various aspects of forming an area, the Arjasari Region can become a socially advanced region through agricultural products in the form of corn.

Abstract

Farmers' behavior indicates someone already knows good knowledge, attitude and skills in rice farming activities. the purpose of this study is the influence of socio-economic factors on the behavior of farmers in rice farming. This research was conducted on 21 September - 10 November 2019 in Sumber Kulon Village, Jatitujuh District, Majalengka Regency, West Java. The method used in this study is a survey with 240 respondents. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and interviews, while data analysis techniques using descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Patani activities in rice farming are started from land preparation, selection of rice seeds, rice seedbed, planting, maintenance, food and post-harvest. The results showed that the influence of socio-economic factors on farmer's behavior in the level of siginification was 0.05 with 0.006, Educational variable was 0.094, experience variable was 0.552, motivation variable was 0.034, acceptance variable was 0.096, media information variable was 0,000 and agricultural extension variables were of 0.010. This can be seen from the contribution of farmers in social factors by 27% of the behavior of farmers because farmers only depend on rice farming activities. The reasons for choosing to keep doing this activity are, among other things, a family business.

Abstract

Robusta coffee farming business is one of the farmer income resources in Banyumas District with the high economic value, especially on the west slope of Slamet Mountain which has an exclusive taste of the coffee. The main aim of this research is to analyze cost and revenue in every level of broadland strata, and also the contribution of robusta coffee farming business towards farmer’s household income. The method used in this research was descriptive with a survey approach. The sample was determined purposively for farmers who had 11 years old robusta coffee plants. Sixty-nine farmer respondents were determined with the snowball sampling method. The result showed that the average revenue in strata 1 with average broadland up to 0,28 ha was Rp 724.952,00. In the other side the average revenue in strata 2 with the average broadland up to 1,572 ha was Rp 3.605.309. The contribution of Robusta coffee farm income to the income of farmers households on the western slopes of Mount Slamet, Banyumas Regency, strata 1 was 9.24 percent and strata 2 was 80.20 percent. This shows that the robusta strata 1 coffee farming activities make a small contribution, because it is less than 50 percent, so it needs agribusiness-oriented coffee farming.

Abstract

Updating data is an absolute thing to do to produce a decision or make a valid and reliable policy. In the field of co-operatives, data updated from time to time can be utilized to measure the extent to which cooperatives use available resources to achieve predetermined outputs. The objectives of this study are: 1) to find out the application of co-operative data updates in Indonesia, and 2) to measure the efficiency of co-operatives in Indonesia. The method used is a descriptive analysis using secondary data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia's (Kemenkop dan UKM) publication. The results showed that the data update of co-operatives in Indonesia has been running regularly. However, in several published publications,  the status is very temporary and have not been updated with the most recent time. Furthermore, based on efficiency aspects, co-operatives in several regions have not run their activities efficiently, either the activities that have not been optimal) or activities have exceeded the optimal capacity.

Abstract

The development of the agribusiness sector does not only focus on marketing but also on production. Tabanan is the leading producer of paprika in Bali. As a horticultural product, paprika has perishable nature, and its price is determined by the quality of the good. Besides, the marketing of horticultural commodities tends to involve many institutions which have an impact on prices in the market due to the distance between production sites and market locations. The purpose of this study were to analyze the marketing channels, market structure, and efficiency in marketing paprika in Candikuning, Baturiti, Tabanan Regency. The research method that been used was descriptive qualitative in marketing channels, price transmission elasticity, marketing margins, distribution of marketing margin, and farmer's share. The result showed that there are seven marketing channels in Candikuning. The market structure formed as imperfect competition market which is showed by the price transmission elasticity was 0.950 (Et <1). The marketing margin with the highest value was Rp 20,878.82/kg while the lowest was Rp 6,412.96/kg. The highest farmer share value was 87.76% while the lowest was 66.92%
