Abstract

Each region in Indonesia has diversity in terms of food consumption patterns, especially for pregnant women, which is accompanied by beliefs about taboos from certain types of food. This study aimed to determine the relationship between age, education level, employment status, and the culture of food taboos in pregnant women. This was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted in the working area of the Bengkayang Health Center, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. A sample of 30 pregnant women selected by purposive sampling. The dependent variable is the culture of food taboos in pregnancy. The independent variables include age, education, and employment status. The data were collected by a questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. Education (b = 0.48; 95% CI = 0.10 to 0.85; p = 0.015) and employment status (b = 0.51; 95% CI = 0.19 to 0.84; p = 0.003) had a relationship with the culture of food taboos in pregnancy and were statistically significant. This study also found a relationship between education and employment status with the culture of food taboos in pregnancy.

Abstract

Triglycerides, HDL, and their ratio are associated with metabolic disorders and diseases. Gender is known to have a relationship with these factors, but not consistent. This study wanted to see the relationship between gender and triglyceride levels, HDL levels, and the triglyceride / HDL ratio in secondary school teachers in Makassar City. The study was conducted with a cross-sectional approach in 6 junior high schools and 6 senior high schools with a total population of 200 teachers and involved 122 samples of teachers from secondary schools in Makassar City. Sampling using a stratified random sampling technique. The measurement of triglyceride and HDL levels was carried out by the Prodia laboratory. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between gender and triglyceride levels (p = 0.004). However, no relationship was found between HDL levels (p = 0.856) and the triglyceride / HDL ratio (p = 0.959) among secondary school teachers in Makassar City. Interventions to improve triglyceride levels must consider gender aspects primarily by paying more attention to male teachers.

Abstract

Elementary school children are a vulnerable group to nutritional problems. Malnutrition is generally caused by poverty, lack of food supplies, poor environmental quality, lack of public knowledge about nutrition, a balanced diet, and health. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between balanced nutrition knowledge, dietary pattern, and nutritional status of children in Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu (SDIT) Makassar, Indonesia. The population in this study were all students in grades 4 and 5 with a total sample of 94 people. The results showed that there was no relationship between balanced nutrition knowledge and nutritional status (P = 0.397) and there was no relationship between diet pattern and nutritional status (P = 0.662) children at SDIT Makassar. Researchers recommend a Balanced Nutrition Ambassador program in every school. Ambassadors of Balanced Nutrition will be trained related to balanced nutrition and is responsible for disseminating balanced nutrition messages to their friends and their family

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as diabetes and hypertension, contributed significantly to the mortality rate in Indonesia. Citizens’ unhealthy behaviors have led to an increased risk of diabetes and hypertension. This study aimed to investigate the level of public knowledge regarding diabetes and hypertension. Data were collected through a survey using questionnaires. There were 307 respondents from Medan (n=190) and Jakarta (n=118). The sample was dominated by the female (68,5%) and high school graduates (76.3%). The data revealed that 2.3 percent of the respondents suffered or are currently suffering from diabetes and 3.6 percent of the respondents suffered or are currently suffering from hypertension. The results showed that the level of public knowledge regarding diabetes (65.91%) and hypertension (58.15%) was not ideal in general. Many citizens still did not understand various aspects of diabetes and hypertension, such as the causes, consequences, treatments, and characteristics of their sufferer. This study also found that there are group differences in the level of public knowledge based on gender and geographical location.

Abstract

Sleep time is the sleep time needed by nurses as a fulfillment before doing the night shift and sleeping time during the night shift to optimize work productivity to minimize work fatigue. This study aims to determine the relationship between nurses' slept time before and during shifts, slept debt, and shift rotation with fatigue on night shift nurses in the Critical Room of the Kendari City General Hospital in 2020. An analytical survey was conducted with a cross-sectional study. The results showed that there was no relationship between sleep time before the night shift and work fatigue on the night watch nurse (p-value = 0.309), in contrast to sleep time during the night shift, it was found that there was a relationship with work fatigue on the night watch nurse (p-value = 0.003 ). It is recommended that hospital management make standard operating procedures that aim to regulate nurses' sleep time during the night shift to meet their needs and reduce fatigue levels.

Abstract

Work environment conditions with high temperatures cause workers to experience fluid loss which can cause urine production to decrease so that the urine produced becomes concentrated. If this condition is left for a long time, it can cause saturation of the urine. This study used a cross-sectional design and had 32 respondents as tofu factory workers in Tandang Village, Semarang. The variable most relatedA working environment with high temperatures impacts the employees to encounter fluid loss which leads to the reduction of urine production, thus the urine production becomes concentrated. If this condition lasts for a long time, there will be saturation of the urine. This present study used a cross-sectional design with 32 employees of the tofu factory as the respondent in Tandang Village, Semarang. The most related variable with urine crystallization is water drinking consumption which is the most influential variable in the occurrence of urine crystallization. Employees who consume water drinking insufficient amounts have a probability crystallization of 41.80% compared to employees who consume less water drinking, namely the probability of urine crystallization of 98.81. From this equation, it can be interpreted that employees have a risk of urine crystallization of 0.4230 times. From the eight variables studied, there are four variables (age, water drinking consumption, heat density, and the level of dehydration) that had a statistically significant relationship with urine crystallization. The study was conducted from October-November 2019. This study used a cross-sectional approach the population is all husbands who came to bring their wives in the period of October-November amounted to 385 people. The research sample was obtained by simple random sampling totaling 134 people. Data analysis was performed using SPSS with a chi-square test where the significance value was p <0.05. The results showed that the respondents in this study were mostly aged 18-24 years as many as 39.6%, the last level of education was Senior High School as much as 51.5% and working as entrepreneurs 38.8%. A small proportion of respondents in this study aged 39-45 years were 4 (3.0%), D3 education level was 4 (3.0%), and worked as a repairman 3 (2.2%). The study also showed that there were 81.3% of husbands supported childbirth and 18.7% did not. In addition, there were 64.9% of husbands accompanied their wives at delivery, and 35.1% did not accompany them. There is a relationship between the husband's support and delivery assistance (p = 0.008). It is expected that the husband can play an active role in assisting his wife so that it helps the smooth delivery process

Abstract

The rapid growth of hospitals creates conditions that force hospitals to develop business strategies to be competitive. Brand equity has a strategic role to create an advantage and distinction over other competitors. This study analyzes the effect of brand equity on brand loyalty at the hospital. The design used is cross-sectional involving 200 samples who were determined using a purposive sampling technique. The statistical test used was the t-test (α = 0.05). The results showed that the overall variable brand awareness, preference metrics, financial metrics, output metrics, competitive metrics, local marketers' perception metrics affected brand loyalty. However, partially the variables of brand awareness and perceptions of local marketers did not have a positive effect. It is recommended that the hospital improves the ease of access and affordability of facilities for patients who use vehicles, provides discounts to patients, especially general/non-insured patients who have been treated repeatedly.
