Abstract

Salesman performance and his effort is influenced by self efficacy. Appreciative inquiry is transformation in order to dig positive experiences that lead human future. The aim of this research is measuring the effect of appreciative inquiry training to improve self efficacy of salesman. Manipulation is conducted by experiental learning method. 36 participants was divided into two groups, experimental group (N=18) and control group (N=18). Characteristic of subject is salesman whose low self efficacy which selected by self efficacy scale. This research used untreated control group design with pretest-posttest. The result showed that mean of posttest (M=148.06) from experimental group is higher than pretest (93.94) and also in control group, posttest (M=88.11) and pretest (87.3). This means that both groups have a higher degree of self efficacy, with difference in experimental group is higher (M=54.12) than control group (0.81).Keywords: appreciative inquiry, self efficacy, salesman, untreated control group design with pretest-posttest

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the relationship between psychological capital with work engagement employees of PT. Bank Mega Regional Area Semarang. Psychological capital is an individual’s positive psychological state of development and is characterized by self- efficacy, optimism, hope and resiliency. Then, work engagement is defined as a positive, fulfilling, work-related state of mind that is characterized by vigor, dedication, and absorption. This study used proportional sampling technique. The subjects were all employees of PT. Bank Mega Regional Area Semarang which have staff levels (N=73). The research instrument was psychological capital scales with 28 items (α = 0.953) and work engagement scales with 29 items (α = 0.938). The results by simple regression analysis obtained rxy = 0.716, with p value = 0.000 (p <0.05). The results indicated that there was a positive correlation between psychological capital and work engagement. The higher psychological capital was higher work engagement. Coefficient of determination by 51,3, it meaning that psychological capital effectively contributed for 51,3 % of work engagement. The remaining 48,7 % determined by other factors that are not revealed in this study, for example: job resources and job demands.Keywords: Psychological capital, work engagement, employee

Abstract

Purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between quality of school life with student's discipline of moving class at students class XII SMAN 3 Semarang. Quality of school life is students perception about dimensional of school, including student perspective towards their school, the connection with teachers, feeling that student will achieve success in school, the student chance to face future, social integration, and exlporing. Student's discipline is the meaning of their willingness to obey all regulation in their school. The subject of this study was 301 students of moving class at students class XII SMAN 3 Semarang. Cluster random sampling is used. Technique of data collection used the discipline scale (30 aitem valid α=0,915) and the scale of quality of school life (31 aitem valid α=0,925). Based on the analysis of simple regression showed rxy = 0.520 with p=0.000 (p<0.05). This results indicate that the proposed hypothesis, the existance of a relationship between quality of school life with student's discipline of moving class. Positive coefficient correlation value indicate more positive quality of school life, the higher discipline, and vice versa. Effective quality of school life contributes 27.1% on discipline and 72.9 % were influenced by others.Keywords: Student's Discipline, quality of school life, moving class

Abstract

The English competency is one of the most needed ability that have to be masterd in this globalization era.Thissituation makes the English lesson in Indonesia was taught since Elementary school. The English lesson focusedon the ability to master the vocabulary that could support reading, listening, writing and speaking. The aim of thisreasearch is to know how far that the multisensory method effectiveness to increase the memorizing ability of Englishvocabulary. Subject’s characteristic is the first grade students of elementary school aged 6-7 years old. This research usequasi experimental with non-randomized pretest- posttest control group design and involve 66 subjects that devided into experimental group and control group. The treatment that given in this research use the multisensory method.After the last manipulation, subjects expected to master 30 words. The examination of hypothesis used Paired SampleT-Test and the result of Asymp. Sig is 0,000 (p<0,05). This result acknowledge that multisensory method is effective toincrease the memorizing ability of English vocabulary. Based on this result, the elementary educater should teach theelementary student with the unique method that appropriate to children condition and development, stimulate thememorizing ability considering the developmental factors and use an interesting way of teaching.Keywords: Multisensory method, memorizing ability of English vocabulary, First Grade student of elementary school

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe about students who active in W organization of Diponegoro University concerned with their role and status as student and member of its organization. This research had done to two subjects of W organization members. This research uses a case study qualitative research method and using descriptive data analizing technique. The result of research shows that learning strategy that use by those subjects could be categorized as surface learning approaches. Those subjects would like and easy to do the organization assignment although they delay assignment conveniently than academic assignment. Those subjects prefer to do assignment close to the deadline and often cheat their friends’ assignment. The attendances of subjects in learning activities were less and they often order to their friend to fill the attendance list. Academic achievement of those subjects has decrease, expecially in the third grade. W organization has important to those subjects, because they get some advantages, include new environment, learning and refreshing environment, and expand the communication network.Keywords: Learning stratgey, students, natural lovers’ organization

Abstract

Verbal creativity is the ability to think fluent, flexible, and original that manifested through the words. Psychological freedom is one factor that can develop creativity. One alternative teaching methods that provide freedom in an atmosphere of learning is the Problem Posing Method (PPM) which is triggered by Paulo Freire. This research aims to determine the presence or absence of the influence of PPM on verbal creativity. Characteristic of the subjects was junior high school students in grade 7th, received conventional learning materials, and have never had learning by using PPM. This study used a non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. Subjects in the study were divided into two, experimental group (N = 33) and control group (N= 35). The data was collected using the Verbal Creativity Test. The results of hypothesis testing used Independent Sample T Test techniques showed the differences of mean = 3.294, α = 0.014 with (p<0.05).Keywords: Verbal creativity, problem posing method, a test of verbal creativity, junior high school students

Abstract

Relationship between parents and adolescents influence achievement at school. The research was conducted to determine differences of self-regulated learning (SRL) in terms of parenting style. The population is 8th grade students of junior high school in SMP Fransiskus and SMP PGRI 01 Semarang. The hypothesis is there are differences of SRL in terms of parenting style. Parenting is overall characteristic of parent’s behavior on adolescents, including a response in the form of parental warmth, sensitivity and criticism, discipline, and involvement (control). Self-regulated learning is the ability of students to use metacognition, motivation and behavior to achieve learning goals. Method of data collection used two scales namely Parenting Scale and Self Regulated Learning scale. Parenting Scale consists of 42 aitem (α = 0.931) and the SRL scale consists of 37 aitem (α = 0.906). This study involved 208 students. Sampling technique carried out by cluster random sampling. Data analysis was performed by one way analysis of variance (one way-Anova). Based on the data analysis, obtained F count = 3152 with p = 0.029 (p<0.05). This result indicates that there are significant differences in SRL on students with the type of parenting authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and neglect, so the hypothesis was accepted.Keywords: Parenting style, SRL, 8th grade students

Abstract

Social relationship with others is important when the child enters middle childhood. Empathy behavior is the individual act to put herself or himself in others' feel. Empathy is influenced by individual perspective, gender, intelligence, similarity, experience, innate, discipline methods, and bonding. Through storytelling, children are expected to understand the differences of thoughts and feelings between them and others. This study aims to determine the effect of storytelling on the empathy behavior in the second grade students. A 35 students of Hj. Isriati Baiturrahman 1 elementary school Semarang which selected using nonrandomized pretest-posttest control group design. Measurements were made in lego game setting with 3-4 children per group. The data is collected using observation checklist that consists of 15 behavior indicators and conducted by two observers. The observation supported by audio-video recordings. Independent Sample t-Test and Paired Sample t-Test is used to analyzed the data. The result showed that was not difference between experiment group and control group in empathy behavior. On another hand, used aspect analysis, found that there was difference in fantasy between two groups.Keywords: Children’s empathy behavior, storytelling

Abstract

Prisoner defined as a person against the law, sentenced guilty by the court, and must undergo the punishment in jail. Prison has its own purpose as a place for prisoner to change, develop and to recognise themself, never again break the law and become a better man for family, God, and country. Exceeding prison capacity and violence through prisoner can escalate phyisical or non verbal aggresivitiy. This research has purpose to find out the relation between the perception to mental improvement to non verbal agresivity on prisoner in Kedungpane prison Semarang. Population in this research is 329 prisoner and with 220 prisoner as subject. Random sampling technique is used in this research. Participants were ask to complete 28 item of non verbal aggresivity scale (α=0.925) and 45 item perception of mental improvement scale (α=0.934). Analysis used simple regresion found that rxy= -0.698 with p= 0.001 (p<0.05). Based on this result, concluded that perception of mental improvement has significant negative correlation with non verbal aggresivity. It means non verbal aggresivity could be lower if the prisoner have greater perception of mental improvement and vice versa. Perception of mental improvement has 44.8% effect to nonverbal aggresivity while 55.2% is effected by others.Keywords: Non verbal aggresivity, perception of mental improvement, prisoners
