Abstract

Mahasiswa baru merupakan kelompok usia remaja akhir yang rentan mengalami perubahan life style, khususnya terkait pola makan dan aktivitas fisik. Tingginya penggunaan screen time melalui berbagai perangkat digital dapat memicu perilaku sedentari dan mengurangi aktivitas fisik. Kondisi ini seringkali diikuti dengan kecenderungan memilih fast food yang praktis namun tinggi energi, gula, natrium, dan lemak, serta rendah serat dan mikronutrien. Kebiasaan tersebut berpotensi memicu ketidakseimbangan zat  gizi yang dapat berdampak pada status kesehatan. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk meneliti hubungan antara penggunaan screen time dan kebiasaan konsumsi fast food pada mahasiswa baru, mengingat fase transisi ini berpengaruh besar terhadap pembentukan pola hidup jangka panjang. Tujuan yang dimiliki pada penelitian ini  untuk menganalisis keterkaitan antara penggunaan screen time, kebiasaan konsumsi fast food, dan status gizi pada mahasiswa Program Studi Gizi UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. Penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan menganut desain cross-sectional dengan jumlah populasi 112 orang dan sampel sebanyak 52 responden yang dipilih melalui teknik sampling yang digunaka yaitu random sampling. Data primer didapatkan melalui kuesioner Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) untuk mengukur penggunaan screen time (gadget), food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) kualitatif guna menilai konsumsi fast food, serta kuesioner pilihan ganda untuk pengetahuan gizi. Status gizi ditentukan menggunakan penilaian antropometri dengan rujukan indeks IMT/U. Data akan dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik Spearman rho. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa 13,5% responden memiliki kebiasaan konsumsi fast food dengan golongan rendah. Selain itu, uji statistik menggambarkan adanya korelasi yang  signifikan antara penggunaan screen time dengan status gizi (p < 0,004) dan  kebiasaan konsumsi fast food dengan status gizi (p < 0,001).

Abstract

This research was motivated by students' low knowledge of balanced nutrition, which can lead to poor food choices. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of providing nutrition education through lectures and the NutriMaze-Man game on students' nutritional knowledge scores at SMP Negeri 1 Sumbul. The study took place at SMP Negeri 1 Sumbul from September to November 2025. This quasi-experimental study used a non-equivalent control group design. Ninety-eight students were recruited using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, followed by the Friedman test and the Mann-Whitney test. The Friedman test revealed a significant difference between the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up knowledge scores in the lecture group (p = 0.000). Furthermore, a significant difference was also found between the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up knowledge scores in the NutriMaze-Man game group (p = 0.000). And the results of the Mann-Whitney test showed that there was no significant difference between the pre-test knowledge scores of the lecture and NutriMaze-Man game groups (p = 0.114). Then, there was a significant difference between the post-test knowledge scores of the lecture and NutriMaze-Man game groups (p = 0.019) and there was a significant difference between the follow-up knowledge scores of the lecture and NutriMaze-Man game groups (p = 0.015). Thus, both lectures and the NutriMaze-Man game application can be used to deliver nutrition education specifically related to balanced nutritional tumpeng at SMP Negeri 1 Sumbul.

Abstract

Background : Exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life is essential for optimal infant growth, development, and disease prevention. However, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding remains below national and regional targets in many areas of Indonesia Objective : This study aimed to analyze the determinants of exclusive breastfeeding among mothers with infants aged 6–24 months in the working area of Puskesmas Waru, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province. Methods : An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 122 mothers selected using simple random sampling from a population of 345 mothers. Data were collected using structured questionnaires measuring maternal knowledge, maternal attitude, early initiation of breastfeeding (IMD), maternal occupation, family support, health worker support, and exclusive breastfeeding practices. Data were analyzed using Chi-square tests with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results : The results showed that 44.3% of mothers practiced exclusive breastfeeding, while 55.7% did not. Maternal knowledge (p = 0.000), maternal attitude (p = 0.000), and family support (p = 0.000) were significantly associated with exclusive breastfeeding. In contrast, maternal occupation (p = 0.875) and health worker support (p = 0.083) were not significantly associated with exclusive breastfeeding Conclusions : These findings indicate that behavioral and social factors play important roles in influencing exclusive breastfeeding practices. Strengthening health promotion programs that improve maternal knowledge, foster positive breastfeeding attitudes, and enhance family involvement is essential to increase exclusive breastfeeding coverage.

Abstract

Gizi kurang pada balita merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang masih banyak ditemukan di Indonesia dan berdampak pada pertumbuhan, perkembangan, daya tahan tubuh anak, serta kualitas sumber daya manusia. Berdasarkan data Survei Kesehatan Indonesia (SKI) tahun 2024, prevalensi gizi kurang secara nasional sebesar 16,9%, sedangkan di provinsi Sumatera Utara sebesar 7,9%, dan 12,6 % di Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. Balita merupakan kelompok yang rentan mengalami kekurangan gizi karena pertumbuhan yang cepat dan kebutuhan gizi yang tinggi. Hasil observasi awal di UPTD Puskesmas Hutabargot menunjukkan bahwa dari 10 balita, 5 balita (50%) mengalami gizi kurang, 70% ibu memiliki pengetahuan gizi yang rendah, dan 80% belum menerapkan pola asuh yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi seimbang dan pola asuh ibu dengan kejadian gizi kurang pada balita di UPTD Puskesmas Hutabargot Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. Penelitian ini dilakukan di UPTD Puskesmas Hutabargot, Kecamatan Panyabungan, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal pada bulan September – Oktober 2025. Desain penelitian menggunakan cross sectional dengan jumlah sampel 94 orang ibu yang memiliki balita usia 12-60 bulan. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner pengetahuan gizi seimbang, kuesioner pola asuh, serta pengukuran antropometri balita menggunakan indikator BB/U. Analisis data dilakukan secara univariat, bivariat menggunakan uji Chi- square, dan multivariat menggunakan Regresi logistik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar ibu memiliki pengetahuan tentang gizi seimbang kategori kurang sebanyak 35 ibu (37,2%), kategori baik sebanyak 32 ibu (34,0%) dan kategori sedang sebanyak 27 ibu (28,7%). Pola asuh ibu sebagian besar termasuk kategori cukup sebanyak 63 ibu (67,0%), pola asuh kurang sebanyak 31 ibu (33,0%). Kejadian gizi kurang ditemukan pada 48 balita (51,1%), sedangkan balita yang tidak mengalami gizi kurang sebanyak 46 balita (48,9). Hasil uji Chi- square menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pengetahuan gizi ibu dengan kejadian gizi kurang pada balita (p=0,000) serta pola asuh ibu dengan kejadian gizi kurang (p=0,000). Analisis Regresi logistik menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan gizi seimbang dan pola asuh ibu berpengaruh signifikan (p=0,000) terhadap kejadian gizi kurang pada balita di wilayah kerja UPTD Puskesmas Hutabargot.

Abstract

A 1-year-and-9-month-old male patient was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital with a complex multiorgan condition, including severe acute respiratory distress syndrome, recurrent pneumonia, spasmodic croup, secundum atrial septal defect, and epilepsy. This condition led to high metabolic stress, feeding difficulties, and mild protein-energy malnutrition. This study aimed to provide standardized nutritional care to support metabolic stability, meet increased energy needs, and prevent further nutritional deterioration. A case study was conducted using the Standardized Nutrition Care Process from March 10–17, 2026. Enteral nutrition was administered via nasogastric tube using an amino acid-based formula (Neocate Junior) with a step-up approach to prevent refeeding syndrome, starting from 552.3 kcal and progressing toward 990 kcal. The intervention showed positive outcomes. The patient’s consciousness improved on the first day, and by day 6, energy intake reached 100% of the target, increasing to 80.8% by day 7. Hemoglobin levels improved from 8.7 g/dL to 10.9 g/dL, while body weight remained stable at 9 kg. Gradual enteral nutrition proved effective in supporting recovery and preventing catabolism in critically ill pediatric patients.

Abstract

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition characterized by organ dysfunction resulting from a systemic inflammatory response to infection, often accompanied by increased metabolic demands and a risk of malnutrition. This condition becomes more complex when accompanied by chronic disease anemia and severe protein-energy malnutrition (PEM), which can further worsen the patient’s nutritional status. NCP is a systematic and standardized method used by nutritionists or dietitians to provide structured, high-quality, safe, and measurable nutritional services aimed at identifying and addressing nutritional problems. This case study was conducted in Room Gardenia 2, Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital, from March 10–17, 2026, involving a 16 year old male patient diagnosed with Suspected Sepsis, Anemia, and Severe Marasmic-Type PEM in the Rehabilitation Phase. A comprehensive nutritional assessment was performed on the patient, including anthropometric, biochemical, physical/clinical data, dietary history, and personal history. The nutritional intervention provided consisted of a pediatric diet in liquid form, administered gradually according to the patient’s clinical condition, tolerance, and acceptance of the food. The results of the intervention showed a significant increase in nutrient intake, including energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates, which gradually increased to >80% of the patient’s daily requirements, although there was no significant change in the patient’s nutritional status. Overall, the application of the Standardized Nutrition Care Process in this case study demonstrates that this approach is effective in improving patients’ nutritional intake, making it a crucial approach in the nutritional management of pediatric patients with severe malnutrition.
