Abstract

The purpose of this study was to elaborate the oral aspects contained in Hikayat Raja-Raja Siam based on  Walter J. Ong’s orality theory . The object of this research is the text of Hikayat Raja-Raja Siam from collections of Leiden University.  This study used descriptive qualitative method . The researcher read  carefully the literary work before analyzingit based on  Walter J. Ong’s  orality theory . The results of this study show that there are four aspects of orality in Hikayat Raja-Raja Siam. They are conservative or traditional,  exaggerative or elaborate, additive, and participatory forms.  Moreover, this study shows that Hikayat Raja-Raja Siam also tries to reveal the uniqueness of traditionality in Malay literature. The existence of a written tradition does not necessarily make the oral tradition disappear, instead the author then uses the residue of the oral culture as an aesthetic in his work.

Abstract

The placement ofJavanese women as subaltern figures is done through domestication, minority, and discrimination factors. Due to their efforts to escape from this position,  women are often considered to be fighting against the culture that surrounds them.. The construction of the resistance is narrated in five Javanese short stories in  Djaka Lodang, a weekly magazine, which is the source of the data. Therefore, this study aims to determine the forms of subalternity; why the subalternity still exists, what shackles surround it; how  women afford to break free from the shackles; what forms of negotiation women do in social practice; and the reasons of choosing the negotiation. The literature study was carried out by taking an inventory and identifying material objects as data sources, reading the texts heuristically and hermeneutically to classify data based on themes. Then, analyzing data in accordance with subalternity indicators according to Spivak. Finally, this study shows that even though female characters experience subalternity, both by themselves and by others, it does not mean that Javanese women are placed or place themselves as sufferer objects . Self-negotiation with the surrounding culture is an option as a solution to create harmony by not ignoring happiness as an embodiment of equality.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to reveal the livelihood systems in Minanto's Aib dan Nasib novel. The novel tells about tumultuous village life of the rural people in Indramayu. One of them is related to typical economic system of  rural lif,i.e.  poverty problem.  Poverty seems to be the curse of life.  The study used descriptive qualitative method of which its object is Minanto’s Aib dan Nasib. Literature study and  analytical descriptive techniques were used for data analysis. The findings show the diversity of livelihood systems in the community. They are sellers, pedicab drivers, weed seekers scavengers , teachers, public transportation drivers, preachers, , farmers, farm laborers, shop keepers, migrant workers, commercial sex workers, grave diggers, hospital workers,  village health officer   leaders of neighborhood organization, distributors of migrant workers, barbers, and office workers. These jobs are  sources of livelihood . The livelihood system can be used as a life motivation that  As the world keeps turning, life must go on . Although money is not the orientation of life, but we cannot deny its existence for human life.

Abstract

The learning process with web media is closely related to the use of multimodality in learning because students use various modes at the same time. BIPA Online as a reference for BIPA activities has never been studied in a scientific study. The purpose of this study is to describe how the use of multimodality on the BIPA Online is used in BIPA learning process. The technique of collecting data is through direct observation of the BIPA Online manager. In addition, semiotic analysis was used when watching and the technique used was the note-taking technique. The research method applied is qualitative with descriptive analysis. The research findings revealed that the BIPA Online is rich in material with multimodality in its presentation. The teaching materials discussed on this web cionsist of five types of semiotic systems. The study of multimodality texts is one of the studies in semiotics.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal and describe illocutionary utterances consisting of declarative, assertive, commissive, and directive illocutions and their perlocutions in a report in the form of minutes of Investigation (BAP) of the North Maluku Regional Police. This research uses data collection and data elaboration methods. This research material is in the form of sentences containing illocutionary and perlocutionary speech acts, namely conveying speech's form, function, and power. The data source in the research was taken from minutes of investigation of the North Maluku Regional Police of 2019-2021. Based on the research findings, it was found: 1. declarative illocutionary forms with the function of naming (labeling) and perlocutionary functions with statements on defamation reports; 2. declarative illocutionary forms with the function of naming (labeling) and perlocutionary forms with the function of statements on defamation reports: 3. assertive illocutionary forms with the function of declaring and perlocutionary with comparative-statement functions on defamation reports; 4. Assertive illocutionary form with the function of stating and perlocutionary with the function of statement-information on a lying news report; 5. commissive illocutionary forms with threatening functions and perlocutions with information-statement functions on reports of threats of violence or intimidation; 6. an illocutionary directive form with a commanding function and a perlocutionary form with a threat-statement function in reports of threats of violence or coercion; 7. commissive illocutionary forms with the function of threatening and promising and perlocutionary with the function of threatening statements on reports of threats of violence or intimidation; 8. commissive illocutionary forms with a threatening function and perlocutionary forms with a threat-statement function on reports of threats of violence or intimidation; and 9. directive and commissive illocutionary forms with suggesting and threatening functions, and perlocutionary forms with information-statement functions.

Abstract

The Attribute of Twenty is an obligatory attribute of Allah that Muslims need to know to further strengthen their belief in the Creator. The manuscript that will be used in this research is the Nature Twenty manuscript numbered M.S. 13716 stored in the British Library. The Text of the Twenty Traits contains the obligatory attributes of Allah. The description of the attributes of Allah is also accompanied by the arguments of the Qur'an, followed by an explanation of the meaning of these attributes. By using a philological approach, this research aims to reveal the problem of His monotheism. The concept of monotheism contained in the text of the Twenty Traits, among others, shows that Allah is the One who creates life and death, belonging to Him is the dominion of the heavens and the earth, Allah is only one and no one can associate partners with Him, and His servants are obliged to believe in all of Allah's attributes as a provision. in the afterlife. These concepts are described in the twenty attributes of Allah that are contained in the text of the Attribute of Twenty.

Abstract

The background of this study is a coup attempt in Demokrat Party, which had an impact on the use of verbal violence forms. a of. This study was carried out in three stages, namely reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusion obtained through identification and interpretation of data. The data of this study are netizen’s utterances that contain verbal violence in the political discourse of the Democratic Party Coup. The results of this study are as follows. The netizen’s verbal violence in the Political discourse of the Democratic Party Coup can be classified into three categories, namely (1) impolite utterance (52%), (2) less polite utterance (34%), and (3) rather polite utterance (14%). The percentage result shows that although there are still some less polite and rather polite utterances, the dominant level of politeness used by netizens in the Political discourse of the Demokrat Coup is impolite.

Abstract

This study aims to find out what types of phonological processes found in pronouncing English words by Japanese native speakers and to find out the reason why the changes occur. This study is a descriptive qualitative research using transformational generative phonology’s approach. The source of data is 8 songs sung by Japanese’s idol group, Hey Say Jump! The result of the study shows that there are 8 types of phonological processes found from data analysis, they are; backing, stopping, affrication, assimilation, substitution from /l/ to /r/, epenthesis, vowel coalescence, and vowel shift. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the phonological processes happen because of two reasons; first, Japanese has open syllable system so there is no cluster consonants and consonant sound in the final position except for /n/. Second, there are some sounds that are not present in Japanese so the sounds are adjusted according to the Japanese phonological system.

Abstract

This paper will explore an overview of the communication patterns between parents and children in transmitting religious ethics. This research activity took place in the Osing family in Kemiri Village, Singojuruh District, Banyuwangi Regency. The methods used are introspection, participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the research conducted indicate that the communicative interaction between parents and children in the process of transmitting religious ethical values ​​to the Osing family in Kemiri Village is non-mechanical so that it does not have rules that are systematically structured and are directive, effective, commissive, coercive, and dialogical. expressive. The cultural themes found indicate that giving advice from parents to their children contains elements of openness, honesty, and independence so that communication takes place effectively and creates mutual acceptance.
