Abstract

Gelatin is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. The demand for gelatin increases every year, gelatin derived from pigs and cows is the main source of gelatin in the market. Gelatin that is sourced from other animals such as from poultry and fish is only about 1%. Gelatin from fish becomes a better prospect to develop. Gelatin raw materials can be obtained from the skin, bones, and fish fins. Fish skin is a waste processing of fishery products, such as in the manufacture of meatballs, crackers, and so forth, which has no economic value and even harmful. “Patin” catfish is one of the most developed fish due to the high demand from both domestic and international market. Kampar Regency Riau Province is one of the centers of “patin”catfish development in Indonesia. Gelatin is valuable for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries because it is used in various formulations. This study aims to see the quality of gelatin obtained from catfish skin obtained by acidification process which will be continued utilization as additional material in cosmetic manufacture. In this study, gelatin obtained from “patin” catfish skin extraction was evaluated organoleptically including odor, taste, and shape, moisture content, ash content, pH, and protein contained therein, which results were compared with gelatin derived from commercial fish skins. In organoleptis, the resulting odor is dry powder, odorless, and tasteless, the average water content of commercial fish gelatin is 10.03% and of catatin gelatin is 9.92%, the mean ash content obtained from commercial gelatin fish 2,1958% and “patin” catfish gelatin equal to 0,15%, average protein content on gelatin of commercial fish equal to 85,68% and from “patin” catfish gelatin equal to 88,38%, pH obtained in commercial fish gelatin 6.4 and from “patin”catfish gelatin of 5.7.

Abstract

Bacterial resistence is one of the global problems both in developed countries and devoloping countries. The high cases of resistence to antibiotics require the discovery of new active substances such as antibiotics agents. Therefore, to prevent the occurence of bacterial resistance to antibacterials need to be developed research in the disovery of new drugs derived from nature one of them is propolis. Propolis is a substance produced by bees to protect the nest from variety of threats, either unfavorable environmental threats or other organism attacks. One of type of bee that produces propolis is Trigona bee ( Trigona spp). The type of chemical compounds contained in propolis are very complex, among others alkaloid, flavonoid, steroid, saponin and tannin. This research is laboratory experimental study that aim to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of Trigona spp bee propolis against Propionibacterium acnes by disc diffusion methode. The concentration of ethanol extract of propolis used was 10 %, 20%, 30 %, 40 % with positif positive using clindamycin. From the result of the research, the inhibitory power of of ethanol extract of Trigona spp bee propolis with concentration 10 %, 20 %, 30 % dan 40 % is 11,7 mm, 12,3 mm, 13,6 mm and 14, 3 mm.

Abstract

One of the plants that can be used as traditional medicine is mahogany (Sweitenia mahagoni). The presence of flavonoid compounds in mahogany seeds is suspected as a compound that serves to inhibit bacterial growth. One of the antibacterial effects is to treat diarrhea diseases caused by Shigella dysenteriae. Diarrhea is infectious intestinal disease a public health problem in developing countries. The aim of this research is to know and measure the inhibition zone of ethanol extract of mahogany seed to the growth of Shigella dysenteriae bacteria with concentration 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. This research is a descriptive study in vitro using disc method. The result of the research has found that the average inhibition zone diameter at 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% concentration is 6mm, 8mm, 8.33mm, 10.33mm. Negative controls do not provide inhibition and positive control yields an average diameter of 21.33 mm. Based on the above results, it can be concluded mahogany seed extract provides resistance to Shigella dysenteriae.

Abstract

Tourism sector is an important thing in economy growth of an area. The safety of food products from tourism areas have to be increased. A bad quality food product (does not meet the qualification, safety, and contamination of pathogen microorganism) can cause some poisoning cases that is one of society health problems. Lempuk durian, made from durian and sugar, is a food product from Pekanbaru which is demanded. Beside of the sweet taste, the product has a good and delicious taste. This research aimed to increase the food safety of lempuk durian, so societies can be avoided from food poisoning because of pathogenic microorganisms. The result was compared with lempuk durian safety standard by SNI- 01- 4313- 1996. The microorganism contamination was determined using Total Disk Number method, and Coliform and Coliform fecal was measured with Most Probable Number method. The results obtained for ALT (total plate number) of samples A through E still meet the requirements required by SNI 7388 of 2009 on the maximum limit of microbial contamination in food that is 104 colonies / g and for MPN sample C that does not meet. Abstract

Helminthiasis is a disease that occurs in the population in the tropics and subtropics area.One of the helminthiasis in humans is Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH). The prevalence of this disease is still to be a concern because the prevalence is quite high in children that is no exception in the children aged 1-5 years. The factors causing helminthiasis are included behavioral and environmental factors. This study aims to determine the factors that are related to STH helminthiasis incidence among others, the habit of washing hand of mothers, the habit of wearing footwear, the cleanliness of mother and child's nails, the availability of clean water, the availability of latrines and the availability of the trash. The sample is the total population of 55 children aged 1-5 years in RW 07 Geringging Rumbai Pesisir District. This research is an observational quantitative with cross sectional design.Data is taken from the result of questionnaire and human fecal sample. The data were analyzed using chi square test. The result of the research showing STH infected children were 7 people (12,7%). The types of the worm eggs that infect are Ascaris lumbricoides (7.2%), Trichuris trichiura (3.6%), and hookworm (1.8%). The result of statistical test showed that there was a relationship between hand washing habits (p = 0,039), children habit wearing footwear (p = 0,002), clean of mother and child nail (p = 0,041), clean water supply (p = 0,016) (p = 0,024) and there is no relation between garbage availability (p = 0,168)) to the occurrence of helminthiasis. Abstract

Hypertension is a circumstances where patient having enhancement blood pressure above the normal rate was 120/80 mm/Hg. Hypertension is a disease can’t cured and can make many complication. One of pharmacology treatment can do for decrease blood pressure and prevent complication is using drug ACE-Inhibitor and diuretic group. The purpose of this research to know an overview of knowledge hypertension patient about the disease and drug ACE-Inhibitor and diuretic group.This is descriptif research using survey method, was done in Februari 2015 at UPTD Puskesmas Melur Pekanbaru with the number of respondent as much 81 patient consist of 50 respondent for ACE-Inhibitor group drug and 31 respondent for diuretic drug. Generally an overview of knowledge hypertension patient toward to hypertension disease was enough as much 38 patient (47%) and toward to ACE-Inhibitor group was less as much 30 respondent (60%) and to diuretic drug was enough as much 16 patient (52%). Abstract

Ringworm of the skin caused by a Trichophyton mentaghrophytes, Drugs that are commonly used are synthetic drugs, synthetic drugs can have a negative impact. By because it, research on natural antifungal substances continue to do that with the use of pineapple skin.A pineapple skin waste processed pineapple industry, namely the remainder of the meat and fruit contains secondary metabolites are flavonoids, phenolics, saponins, triterpenoids, steroids and alkaloids. The purpose of this study to determine the content of secondary metabolites contained in the pineapple skin and for the inhibition of Trichophyton mentaghrophytes using experimental laboratoryin vitro. Pineapple bark extract prepared in various concentrations of 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%, then test the inhibition ofTrichophyton mentaghrophytesand incubated temperature 25o C for 5day. Based on the results obtained percentage pineapple skin extractfungal inhibition test Trichophyton mentaghrophytesthe concentration 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%, respectively, are22%, 37%, 46% and 56% compared to the positive control.Based on this research, pineapple bark extract containing flavonoids, phenolics, saponins, triterpenoids, steroids and alkaloids. The results of this study can be concluded that the extract of pineapple skin Trichophyton mentaghrophyteswhich is characterized by the formation of inhibit zone.

Abstract

Head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) is an insect that carries a disease that makes the loss of confidence. Efforts of control and pembutuasan head lice is the use of natural insecticides, one of the plants that have the potential as a natural insecticide is duku skin extract (Lansium domesticum Corr.). The purpose of this study was to determine mortality of head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) and to know the compounds contained in duku skin extract. The research used laboratory experimental method with design research design post only control group. Based on the result of the research, the most effective rate of death of head louse (Pediculus humanus capitis) is 15% concentration with 4 head of head louse (80%), while at concentration 10% is 2 tail (40%) and at concentration 5% there is a dead head louse 0 (0%). The results of this study can be concluded that duku leaf extract (Lansium domesticum Corr.) Serves as a natural insecticide due to the presence of secondary metabolite compounds that are active in killing head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis).

Abstract

In this paper we studied the bioactive compounds of Flavonol-D-alanil D-alanin dekarboksipeptidase receptor interactions In silico. First, prepared three dimensional structure of D-alanil D-alanin dekarboksipeptidase as receptor. Preparation of fourth bioactive compounds of flavonol which will be as ligands, klokasilin and D-alanil D-alanin as a comparison. The fourth bioactive compounds of flavonol, klokasilin and D-alanil D-alanin were docked with D-alanil D-alanin dekarboksipeptidase until energy values were obtained. The fourth bioactive compounds of flavonol had lesser binding energy values than D-alanil D-alanin, Quercitrine and rutin also predicted to have greater binding energy and binding affinity than klokasilin (antibiotic) and D-alanil D-alanin (nature ligand).

Abstract

The organic farming system is a holistic agricultural production management system for improving and developing agro-ecosystem health, including biodiversity, biological cycles, and soil biological activities. Organic farming systems use natural fertilizers and pesticides, while conventional farming systems still use chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Environmental conditions are expected to affect the chemical content of rice. One of the main chemical constituents in rice is amylose and protein. This research is a laboratory experimental study that aims to see the amylose and protein content of Solok rice types sokan and anak daro which grown with organic farming system and conventional farming system. From the result of the research, equation of calibration curve amylose is Y = 0,0246X + 0,0146 with correlation coefficient (r) = 0,9984. Amylose content of Solok rice type of anak daro organic 28,90%, anak daro conventional 28,04%, sokan organic 30,32% and sokan conventional 30,94%. Protein content of Solok rice type of anak daro organic 8,79%, anak daro conventional 8,15%, sokan organic 8,50% and sokan conventional 8,25%. T value of each group is smaller than the T table value, it can be concluded that the result is not significantly different.
