Abstract

The research aimed to determine if there was a significant difference in the reading achievement of students who were taught using Microsoft Sway compared to those who were not. A quantitative method with a quasiexperimental design was employed for the study. Data collection involved a pre-test and post-test, while descriptive statistics were used for data analysis. The results showed that the independent sample t-test gave a value of 3.226, which was higher than the t-critical value of 2.000 at a 95% significance level with 65 degrees of freedom. This indicates that the obtained t-value exceeded the expected value from the t-table (t-obtained 3.226 > t-table 2.000). As a result, the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the learning styles utilized by students at Nurul Huda Senior High School and their correlation with English achievement. It adopted a correlational design and employed a quantitative methodology to analyze the relationship between students' learning styles and their English performance. The study employed the VAK Model, which encompasses Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic learning styles. The questionnaire utilized in the research was developed based on the VAK Learning Style Questionnaire. A total of 30 tenth-grade students from Nurul Huda Senior High School participated in the study. The questionnaire results indicated that the students employed various learning styles: 20% preferred kinesthetic, 56.7% preferred visual, 23.3% preferred auditory, and others exhibited a preference for more than one learning style. Future researchers could explore different theories, employ interviews, and include a larger number of participants. Additionally, conducting similar studies at Nurul Huda Senior High School to analyze other factors influencing students' English achievement would be beneficial. The researcher hopes that by identifying students' learning styles, both students and teachers can become more aware of individual learning preferences within the classroom setting.

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Mistake Buster Technique in improving the writing achievement of tenth-grade students at SMK Yayasan Bakti Prabumulih. The objective was to determine whether the use of this technique effectively enhanced the students' ability to write recount paragraphs. An experimental design was employed for this study, specifically a group pretest and posttest design. The population consisted of all tenth-grade students at SMK Yayasan Bakti in the academic year 2021–2022, totaling 60 students. A sample of 28 students was selected using purposive sampling, with 28 students assigned to the experimental group (X TKJ 1) and 32 students to the control group (X TKJ 2). The data were collected through pretests and posttests and analyzed using SPSS 23 software. The results revealed that the experimental group had an average posttest score of 68.03, while the control group had an average posttest score of 61.92. The critical value at a significance level of 0.05 for a one-tailed test with 62 degrees of freedom was 1.699. As the obtained t-value of 13.920 was higher than the t-table value, the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. This indicates a significant difference between the tenth-grade students at SMK Yayasan Bakti who were taught using the Mistake Buster Technique for learning to write recount paragraphs and those who were not.
