Learning English using song is one of fun way that has been replaced into the school syllabus at Junior High School and Senior High School for 2013 curriculum. This study aimed to approach and reinforce grammar using song of Maher Zain in title Number One for Me by analysing the terms of grammar from its lyric. The focus of this study is about grammar which include: present tense, past tense, future tense, phrasal verb, noun phrase, gerund and the grammatical errors. Engaging lessons with model song will motivate students to learn grammar interestingly. The researcher conclude, if the terms of grammar in Maher Zain?s song has different kind and it is interesting to be learn. His songs always contain deep advices and this song tells about the love of mothers to their children and the children feel to their mothers.

The investigation of error is quite challenging to be conducted at school and university. Interestingly, with the technology development, detecting error can be conducted by using an automated writing evaluation program. This study aimed to analyze the errors in writing by applying an automated writing evaluation program. This study applied a mixed methods research with exploratory design. The total of 48 undergraduate students participated in this study and each student submitted one essay which was then re-submitted to the automated writing evaluation program. As the result, there are 484 errors detected by the program which came from 23 types of errors. However, the program still left some errors undetected with the total number of 158 errors which came from 24 types of errors; 13 types of errors have been identified and 11 types of errors have not been identified by the program. From the result of the program, the use of automated writing evaluation program in detecting error seems giving some benefits for the user. However, the application of this program still needs the teacher and lecturer’s supervision to reduce the weaknesses of the program in detecting the errors.

The aim of this paper was to investigate the influences of informal digital learning of English (IDLE) speaking practices which emerge the boundaries between countries. The researcher used questionnaire, interview, document analysis, and observation as data collection. For analyzing qualitative data, the researcher used narrative inquiry model including data collection, data transcription and reporting the narrative study. The participant were two female undergraduate students of English department in Indonesia. The result explained that IDLE speaking practices influence their self-confidence, motivation, and communication competence. This research also reveald that their language learning strategy through IDLE speaking practice widen their social and culture understanding. This new language learning strategy in informal context helps digital natives in this era to enjoy their learning.

Indonesia tourism is experiencing a rapid increase each year. Some tourism providers need skillful workers to adapt with it. However, as the local citizen, Indonesian people are being influenced with this phenomena. In Gedongsongo Temple, the horse keeper (KKT) are also become object who need to develop themselves to face the competitive and massive trends. This study aims to determine the motivation of the horse keeper in learning English. To obtain the data, a descriptive qualitative approach. The result shows that the motivation of the horse keeper was low proved by the process and the involvement during the program, due to internal and external factors. However economical factor become the main reason for them to not enrich their English skill.

Students had difficulties to focus and got the idea to write their research report when they asked to finish their writing in certain time.Therefore, the researchers conducted the research on applying Problem Based learning (PBL) to support the Active Student Responding (ASR) in writing. Theobjectives of this research is to describe the studentsresponses in writing academic research especially their final project. The subjects of this study are the eighth semester of Universitas Terbuka who join Pemantapan Kemampuan Profesional subjects. The research methodology is descriptive quantitative.The sampling technique of the research is simple random sampling which uses 20 students from the eighth semester. The data obtained from questionnaire and observation.The reserach study concludes that the application of Problem Based Learning (PBL) encourage students to be creative in writing and enhance studentscritical thinking in solve theproblem. They tend to have a big effort to finish writing on their final project. It can be seen from the means result of studentsconcept learning questionnaire 69.8%. It meant that there were a big motivation from the students to write their research project.

This study aims to reveal the social stratification in French in 19th century through the main character of The Necklace ?La Parure? short story by Guy de Maupassant. This research applies sociological approach by Karl Marx and Max Weber. Sociology is a science which attempts the interpretive understanding of social action in order thereby to arrive at a casual explanation of its course and effects. In accordance, the writer uses qualitative method to conduct the research aimed to describe and analyze phenomena, events, social activities, attitudes, beliefs, perceptions, thoughts people individually or in groups. Specifically, this study focuses to analyze social life of the main character in the short story by Guy de Maupassant consisting the act and desire in having a bourgeois life, and the social stratification which repress the main character at that time. Moreover, the research uses the library research to collect the data of social stratification. This study aims to analyze the variants, frequency, similarity, and difference of Discourse Markers (DMs) which used by Surabaya male and female sophomores of English education major in writing their descriptive texts. The author applies qualitative approach, document analysis design, to identify their DMs in their texts. The findings of the study show that Elaborative Marker appears as the most dominant marker rather than Inferential and Contrastive Markers. More than a half of total number DMs used by the students dominated by and. However, it indicates that the Surabaya College students have difficulty in varying DMs they used. Moreover, there is no indication of a major difference in terms of DMs variants between female and male students in their writings. This study benefit as one of the reflection form of English students ability in using DMs. Regarding the several DMs which identically used by the male and/or female students, further studies are still needed to seek a satisfactory answer to this phenomenon.

The purpose of this study is to (1) find out how the availability of the internet application in schools as resource of learning. (2) The effect of internet availability on students' independence learning in English lesson. The population in this study were eighth grade students of SMP N 9 Yogyakarta in 2019 as many as 36 students. Samples were taken with saturated techniques. This study used quantitative method with ex post facto research types. Data collection was carried out by interview techniques and questionnaires as data on the availability of the internet in schools as learning resources and the impact of the availability of the internet on students' independence learning in English lesson. Analysis of the data used Likert scale or called scale five. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the availability of the internet at school as a learning resource is good enough in its use and management. (2) There is a positive impact on the availability of the internet in the school as a learning resource for students' independence learning in English lesson.

This study was aimed at reviewing some reflective practice tools utilized by EFL teachers in reflecting their classroom performance as an attempt to improve their teaching. 4 English teachers with teaching experience ranging from 7-24 years were involved in this study. Data were collected through interview, observation, and document analysis. The result of data analysis informed some individual differences among EFL teacher?s preference in doing reflection over their teaching. Basically, there are 4 tools utilized by respondents to evaluate their teaching; learning journal, students? feedback, peer observation, and action research. It is shown the role of reflective practice in teacher development is very vital.

21st century skills necessitate the abilities that students? need for their career development in the current era. The utilization of Mobile Application in teaching and learning process as the integration of Information and Communication Technology in 21st century learning demands the teacher to get used of it. Hence, this study aims to investigate teacher?s belief on integrating Mobile Application in EFL classroom. To reach the objective, a case study on an individual teacher used in this research. The participant was purposively selected because she was considered as the informant who could give sufficient information to answer the research questions. The finding of this study was teacher believes that utilizing Mobile Application is very important as Mobile Application has ability to make transformation of educational aspects by making use of it to reach instructional objectives then the quality of teaching and learning will improve.
