Abstract

The problem addressed in this study is the limited availability of physics learning media integrated with local culture, particularly the Gopa traditional game, in explaining projectile motion contextually, as well as the absence of feasibility analysis for ethno-inquiry-based multimedia. In addition, the lack of a comprehensive feasibility analysis of interactive multimedia based on ethno-inquiry has resulted in its potential use in learning not being empirically tested. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of ethno-inquiry-based interactive physics multimedia through the Gopa traditional game and to evaluate students’ responses to its implementation. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method adapted from the Borg and Gall model. The subjects of the study were 10 eleventh-grade high school students. Data were collected through validation questionnaires and student response questionnaires using a Likert scale (1–5), then analyzed quantitatively using percentage analysis and descriptively. The results showed that the developed multimedia was categorized as highly feasible in terms of both media and material aspects and received positive responses from students because it was considered interesting, easy to use, and helpful in understanding projectile motion concepts. Therefore, the ethno-inquiry-based interactive multimedia through the Gopa traditional game is considered feasible as an alternative contextual and local culture-based physics learning medium. The implications of this study indicate that the integration of the ethno-inquiry approach and local wisdom has the potential to strengthen students’ conceptual understanding, numeracy literacy, and cultural literacy in physics learning.

Abstract

The low mathematical problem-solving ability of elementary school students and the fact that mathematics instruction has not fully connected mathematical concepts with real-life contexts are the main problems addressed in this study. In addition, learning about length and weight measurement tends to be procedural, resulting in limited opportunities for students to develop deeper thinking skills. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) materials on length and weight measurement toward the problem-solving abilities of third-grade elementary school students. This research employed an experimental method using a quasi-experimental design in the form of a nonequivalent control group design. The subjects of the study were third-grade elementary school students divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected using a measurement technique with essay test instruments. The data analysis methods included descriptive and inferential analyses through mean difference tests and effect size calculations. The results showed that the problem-solving abilities of students in the experimental class were categorized as better than those in the control class. Hypothesis testing indicated a significant difference between the two groups. The effect size analysis demonstrated that the implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education materials had a significant influence on students’ problem-solving abilities. The implications of this study indicate that the Realistic Mathematics Education approach is effective in improving elementary school students’ problem-solving abilities, particularly in the topic of length and weight measurement, and therefore can be used as an alternative mathematics learning strategy in elementary schools.

Abstract

The rapid development of digitalization in education has not been accompanied by a clear mapping of the equality of students’ digital literacy levels between distance learning and conventional learning models. This uncertainty raises the question of whether differences in learning systems affect students’ digital literacy skills in mathematics learning. This study aims to analyze the level of students’ digital literacy in mathematics learning between distance learning-based and conventional higher education institutions based on four dimensions of digital competence. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design. The research subjects consisted of 150 students enrolled in mathematics courses, including 60 students from distance learning institutions and 90 students from conventional institutions as comparative test subjects. Data were collected using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted through descriptive and inferential statistics using comparative tests according to the data distribution. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the level of digital literacy between students in the two educational models across the four dimensions of digital competence. In general, students’ digital literacy was categorized as good; however, improvements are still needed in the aspects of evaluation and the utilization of advanced technology. It can be concluded that the type of institution is not the dominant factor in determining students’ digital literacy when self-regulation and learning readiness have been well developed. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of developing learning strategies oriented toward enhancing higher-order digital skills, strengthening independent learning, and integrating technology critically in mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of local wisdom into contemporary pedagogical innovations to develop meaningful and culturally sensitive educational practices. A qualitative descriptive methodology was employed, incorporating semi-structured interviews with educators and cultural practitioners, classroom observations, and document analysis. The aim was to understand how cultural traditions are integrated into classroom instruction and the challenges that arise during this process. Research indicates that educators perceive local wisdom as a cultural legacy and a teaching asset that enhances student involvement, moral growth, and cultural identification. Interview excerpts demonstrate that traditional narratives and practices enhance students' engagement and critical thinking skills when integrated with modern approaches, such as project-based learning and digital media. Classroom observations revealed that children engaged more actively when classes incorporated cultural content; however, a document analysis indicated a disparity between policy support for cultural integration and the absence of explicit implementation measures in schools. The study suggests that incorporating local wisdom into pedagogy enhances teaching and learning, but it requires more robust institutional and policy support. The consequence is that education can concurrently equip pupils for global concerns while instilling their cultural values.
