Abstract

International student faced unique challenges in adapting to a new language and linguistic environment. The language difficulties faced by students impact their ability to understand learning materials. This study aims to analyze the literacy practices of international students from Tajikistan studying in Indonesia that have developed over time and what role language proficiency and cultural context play in shaping literacy development during the academic journey. This type of research is qualitative, using a qualitative narrative approach. This study explores the lived experiences of Tajik students in the Indonesian academic environment. The subjects of this study were Tajik students. Data collection mainly consisted of semi-structured interviews conducted face-to-face. The data collection instrument was an interview sheet. The data analysis method applied was thematic analysis following Creswell's six steps of data analysis. The research findings revealed that language barriers initially hampered academic adaptation and social integration. However, peer support, informal learning strategies, and extracurricular participation emerged as necessary in overcoming this challenge. Students gradually developed language proficiency, shifting from relying on their mother tongue to engaging confidently in Bahasa Indonesia. This study highlights the importance of immersive learning experiences, including social interactions and institutional support, in fostering academic success and intercultural competence.

Abstract

Inclusive education is organized so that all children, including children with disabilities, get quality education opportunities and services. However, the implementation of inclusive education raises several problems, one of which is teachers who do not understand inclusive education and disabilities, so they have difficulty accepting students with disabilities and managing classes well. This study aims to analyze the effect of inclusive education training on improving teachers' knowledge and attitudes in teaching students with disabilities. The methodology in this study used an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design, which obtained a sample of 19 teachers. The data collection method was a closed questionnaire with an adapted and modified teacher attitude instrument and a teacher knowledge instrument compiled by the researcher based on the Inclusive Education Implementation Guide and the Inclusive Education Implementation Pocket Book in Elementary Schools. The analysis method used Wilcoxon, showing differences in teachers' knowledge and attitudes towards students with disabilities before and after being given inclusive education training. This study implies that teachers can apply more inclusive learning steps and recognize the characteristics of children with special needs. Thus, it can be concluded that inclusive education training can improve teachers' knowledge and positive attitudes in teaching students with disabilities.

Abstract

Inclusive education plays an important role in providing equal learning opportunities for all children, regardless of their abilities. This research addresses the issue of low public trust in inclusive education, which has the potential to hinder policy implementation and practice. The aim of this research is to develop strategies to strengthen community trust and improve the quality of inclusive education. A mixed methods approach was used in this study. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews with teachers, parents, students and policymakers and a survey of 255 respondents. The instrument used was an observation sheet. After the data was collected, it was analyzed through two stages, namely qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative analysis was conducted with thematic and narrative coding, while quantitative analysis used descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis. The results show that community involvement, teacher training and removing stigma are the main factors in increasing community trust in inclusive education. However, community trust does not have a significant effect on inclusive education outcomes directly. The study concluded that community-based strategies supported by teacher training and anti-stigma campaigns need to be implemented to improve community acceptance of inclusive education.

Abstract

Accurate planning in education requires reliable student and class size projections to anticipate resource needs, address challenges and ensure education quality. This study aims to respond to the need to evaluate various projection methods to identify the most effective approach in estimating student and class size in educational institutions in Indonesia, while assessing the effectiveness of eight different methods in projecting student and class size. The method used is comparative research with quantitative analysis techniques.  The subjects of this study were the number of students and study groups from the 2019/2020 to 2022/2023 academic years in all provinces in Indonesia, then assessed the accuracy of each projection method for the 2023/2024 academic year and the first semester of 2024/2025, Secondary data collection was obtained through the Ministry of Education and Culture's Dapodik website. Data analysis was conducted through inferential statistical analysis. Accuracy assessment was conducted by calculating the error rate using MAPE to evaluate the effectiveness of each method in forecasting the number of students and study groups. Furthermore, each method was given a score to obtain an order based on the level of accuracy. The results of this study reveal that the order of the most accurate methods of projecting the number of students is Naive Forecasting, Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average, Linear Regression, Simple Exponential Smoothing, Moving Average, Holt's Method, Linear Regression, Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average, Naive Forecasting, Autoregressive, Autoregressive Moving Average, Moving Average, and finally Simple Exponential Smoothing. The results of this research are expected to help anticipate student growth and formulate more efficient, sustainable, and equitable education resource allocation strategies.

Abstract

The integration of AI-driven digital tools in online English instruction presents unique anxiety challenges for both students and lecturers, particularly in non-native English contexts. This study explores anxiety levels among university students and lecturers engaged in AI-assisted English learning in North Bali. Employing an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, data were collected from 220 students and 20 lecturers using the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) questionnaire and semi-structured interviews with five students and two lecturers. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS for frequency distributions, categorized using Oetting’s Scale, while qualitative data were examined through thematic analysis. Results indicated that students experienced mild anxiety, particularly during assessments, due to test-related stress, connectivity issues, and limited access to digital tools. Lecturers, however, exhibited higher anxiety levels, primarily stemming from digital skill gaps and challenges in assessing AI-generated student work. These findings highlight the urgent need for institutional policies that address digital literacy gaps, clearer assessment guidelines, and targeted professional development programs. Additionally, psychological support initiatives can help both students and lecturers manage anxiety effectively. By fostering a supportive and well-prepared educational environment, institutions can enhance digital readiness and reduce anxiety in AI-integrated English learning settings.
