Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to test the dye on extracts of dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) and cengkodok (Melastoma malabathricum) as a natural indicator. This natural indicator was made by utilizing the content of the dye (anthocyanin) in plants which have fruit or flowers. Maseration was conducted by using two solvents consist of aquadest and ethanol to determine which one of the best solvent. Aquadest solvent showed as the best extractor for dragon fruit. Meanwhile ethanol solvent as the best extractor for cengkodok (70%). The best composition of the dragon fruit and cengkodok was 1:1 of solvent meanth 1 gram of dragon fruit or cengkodok was dissolved in 1 ml of solvent. The best soaking time of dragon fruit and cengkodok was 90 minutes. Test the pH range in a solution of pH 1-14 for dragon fruit gave pH from 1 to 4 as a pH indicator stretch natural, and for cengkodok gave pH from 11 to 14 as a pH indicator stretch natural.Keywords: cengkodok, dragon fruit, natural indicator, pH range

Abstract

The development research is initiated by the lack of students’ knowledge in determining the Properties of Ionic and Covalent Compounds, and aimed at designing the student worksheet. Using Research and Development model of 3D (Define, Design, and Develop), this study included validation sheet, teacher and students questionnaires, and pretest posttest as the instruments. The study reveals a number of findings. First, the average score of validation criteria was 99,43% (strongly valid), with an average score of media expert by 89,58% (strongly valid). Second, the results of practicality criteria taken from the students respon were 85,53% (strongly practical), and from the teacher respon was 98 ,75% (strongly practical). Third, the effectiveness criteria of pretest and posttest after taught by Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) worksheet and counted by N-gain was considered very good (0,701). In conclusion, Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) Based Worksheet is effectively used as teaching materials in Properties of Ionic and Covalent Compounds class of the tenth grade students of Pharmacy atPanca Bhakti Vocational School Sungai Raya.Keywords: Students worksheet, Predict-Observe-Explain (POE), Properties of Ionic and Covalent Compound

Abstract

ABSTRACTLow learning outcomes and lack of student activity on chemistry subject at X grade science students in SMAN 7 Pontianak was caused by low metacognition skills. Therefore, this research aimed to describe student‟s metacognition skills, learning activities, and learning outcomes in chemical subjects, as well as to determine the level of correlation among those variables. The method was descriptive method with correlational research. Students‟ metacognition skills were measured using MCAI questionnaire, students‟ learning outcomes by summative test documentation, and students‟ learning activities by learning activities questionnaires. The analysis showed that students‟ metacognition skill average was 79% in the developing category, which meant students can be helped toward realizing think if intrigued or supported, students‟ learning activities ware at the high category (51%), while students‟ learning outcomes was in the less category ( 38%). The correlation test (Pearson product moment test) results of students‟ metacognition skills with students‟ activity showed positive and significant correlation. Pearson correlation coefficient (r) was 0.542 as the moderate category and determination coefficient was 0.293. The correlation test results of students‟ metacognition skills with students‟ learning outcomes indicated that there was no correlation with the significant value of 0.136. Abstract

Low students’ understanding of reaction rate factors had occurred in grade XI of SMA Adi Sucipto Pontianak as a result of lack of learning resources. Therefore, this study aimed to develop an experiment guidebook based on a scientific approach to assist students on comprehending factors influencing reaction rate. Modified 4D Thiagarajan’s model of Research and Development (R&D) was carried out, in which the guidebook was evaluated regarding its feasibility including validity, effectiveness, and practicality. The validity value judged byexperts of mediawas 87.64% (very valid). In addition, the practicality level measured by responses from both teacher and students were 100% (very practical) and 98.14% (very practical), respectively. The use of the guidebook in classroom was effectively improved students’ learning outcome as the N-gain value was 0.89 (very high). As a conclusion, the resulted experiment guidebook based on a scientific approach was feasible to be used as a learning resources on reaction rate subject in grade XI of SMA Adisucipto Pontianak.Keywords: Chemical Practic Guides, Scientific Approach.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to find out students’ communication skills after using cooperative learning model type pair checks and by lecturing and discussion method, to know the difference of students’ learning results after using cooperative learning model type pair checks and by lecturing and discussion method, and also to know the effectiveness of usng cooperative learning model type pair checks. It is a quasi experimental. Research used simple random sampling technique in taking the sample. The analysis of students learning results reported that the mean of students in experimental class 86,94 % is higher than the mean of students in control class 64,30 %. The analysis of students communication skills results reported that the percentage of students communication skills in experimental class 84% is higher than the percentage of students’ communication skills in control class 65%. The result of statistic test with α = 5 % the value is 0,00 which is lower than α (0,00<0,005). It means that there are some differences between esperimental class and control class. Effect size showed ES = 1,22 categorized as high, which means that cooperative learning model type pair checks affect significantly to students’ learning results as 38,69%.Keywords: Learning results, communication skills, Solubility and Solubility Product, Type of Pair Checks

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aimed at describing thescientific work skill in guided inquiry-based colloid lab on XI IPA 2 students of MAN 2 Pontianak. Using descriptive method, this study employed 29 students as the subjects. The data collection techniques used were observation and interview. While thedata collection tools used were and interview guides. The average skillin formulating the problem was 100%, the skill informulating the hypothesis was 95.40%, the skill in conducting experiments was 86.59%, the skill in observing experimental results was 83.14%, the skillin analyzing the experimental results was 73.56%, and the skillin formulatingthe hypotheses was 70.12%. It can be concluded that the students of XI IPA 2 MAN 2 Pontianak are considered excellent as their overall average of scientific work skill inguided inquiry-based colloid lab was 84.48%.Keywords: Job Skills scientific, lab colloid-based guided inquiry

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis result aimed to determine the differences activities and student's learning result by using the model of problem and speech method on solubility and the result of multiplying the solubility material in science class of XI MAN 2 Pontianak. Formulation on this research used an experiment method. The results showed that 1) There were some influences of PBL model to student activities at Solubility and Solubility Product in the class of XI MAN 2 Pontianak. 2) There were some influences of PBL model to student learning results in solubility material in the class. 3) The influence of PBL model to student activities at Solubility and Solubility Product in class of XI MAN 2 Pontianak was 95%. 4) The influence of PBL model on student learning results at Solubility and Solubility Product in class of XI MAN 2 Pontianak was 95%.Keywords: Activities, Learning results, Problem Based Learning

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was aimed by the impractical assessment used by the teacher. Therefore, teachers need the efficient and effective assessment system to help their work, such as wonder quiz creator. This study aimed at developing the assessment instrument on the Mole Concept on the grade X students of SMK Negeri 7 Pontianak. The model used was a modified 4-D (to 3-D) Thiagarajan; definition, design, and development. The data collecting technique used were measurement, and direct and indirect communication. The study revealed that wondershare quiz creator was considered usable. The student’s positive response was strong (76,49%) and the teacher’s positive response was very strong (90%). The effectiveness obtained probability (sig) score of 0,106>0,05, which means that there was a difference of before and after the assessment instrument given. As a result, the wondershare quiz creator is considered valid and usable. It is also preferred by the students as their response are good and positive. Abstract

 This  study  is  motivated  by  the  low  learning  outcomes  in  the  Sub-covalent  Bond class of tenth-grade students, SMA Islam Haruniyah Pontianak. This problem is due to the  lack  of  students'  understanding  of  the  concept  of  Covalent  Bonds.  Therefore,  a proper learning model is required to improve students’ understanding of Covalent Bond concepts  based  on  the  characteristics  of  both  learning  materials    and  students.  This study  aimed  to  investigate  the  differences  in  the  student  learning  outcomes  and  the effectiveness of the question card-based on TGT learning in the Sub-covalent Bonding material. Using the pre-experimental method of one-group pretest-posttest design, the tenth-grade  students  of  Math  and  Science  Class  of  SMS  Islam  Haruniyah  Pontianak participated in this study. The data collection tools used were learning outcomes tests, observation sheets, and interview sheets. The results of data analysis revealed that the average  pretest  score  was  36  and  the  posttest  was  62.94.  In  addition,  the  t-test statistical  analysis  indicated  a  significance  value  of  0.00  (0.00  <0.05)  which  meanth that there were differences in student learning outcomes between before and after the question  card-based  TGT  learning  model  implemented.  The  gain  value  was  0.42.  In other words, the  question card-based on TGT learning model is effective in improving the student  learning outcomes with good category. Keywords: Covalent Bond, Question Card, Team Games Tournament (TGT)

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed at finding out the difference, the influence, and the implementation of students’ learning outcomes on Stoichiometry taught by using problem posing and lecturing method of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative model in class X, SMA 8 Pontianak. Using quasi experimental and Nonequivalent Control Group designs, this study employed students of class X MIA 1 as the experimental group and class X MIA 4 as the control group. The study revealed that the average score of experimental class was higher (78,06) than the control class (67,30). The affective assessment of the control class gained lower score than the experimental class with the Excellent criteria at the first and the second meeting. Whereas, the affective assessment for Good criteria was dominated by the control class with the average score of 78,26%. The results of Uman witney test (α=0,05) showed that significance score of 0,000 which means that there was significant difference of control and experiment classes. The effect size calculations indicated ES=0.57 which categorized into average. Therefore, problem posing and lecturing method of  Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative model contributed positive influence to the students’ learning outcomes (21,57).Keywords : Students’ Outcomes, Numbered Heads Together (NHT), Problem Possing
