Abstract

This article explores the conception of knowledge in two distinct yet related disciplines of the Islamic sciences–namely, theology and Qurʾānic exegesis. As this article is both a historical and an educational enquiry, it adopts an interdisciplinary approach in offering a critical analysis of the pedagogies through which Muslim scholars attained and transmitted such knowledge during the first few centuries of Islam. Its findings suggest that both disciplines ought to be studied in light of one another in a way that is relevant to the learners’ own contexts. The paper concludes by offering new perspectives in developing curricula for both disciplines in line with educational pedagogic research.

Abstract

Islam sets the roles and relationship between husband and wife in the family in a balanced manner to create sakinah, mawadah, and rahmah (peaceful, loving, and compassionate) family. A lot of people often underestimate the role of a wife in a family. This paper examined the Masturah (rather than putting Arabic words, it would be better to write the meaning of the Masturah) as the education program for wife in the family of Tablighi Jamaat in Temboro village, Magetan, East Java, Indonesia. This research used a qualitative approach where the data were collected, applying interviews with various family members of the Tablighi Jamaat. The research results show that the Masturah is a closed and private education strategy for a wife (the Masturah) in the families of Tablighi Jamaat, which is performed in the house with religious training and practice. Second, the purpose of the Masturah is to prepare the role of wife as mu’allimah and muta’alimah, daiyah, and a’bidah (teacher and student, preacher, and worshiper). Third, the Masturah helps to increase Iman (the belief in Allah (the practice in worship, appreciation in practicing Islamic religion, improving the knowledge in Islamic teaching, and the increase of motivation in religion and preaching. This research has implications for the importance of religious education for wives to support their husbands' da'wah activities and children's education at home.

Abstract

This paper explores solutions to the limitations of the purpose of education as currently understood and advocated in postmodern Britain. By adopting an interdisciplinary approach, it takes a closer look at the objectives of education as per another major civilization with a rich educational heritage–that is, the Islamic tradition–and compares the two distinct philosophies. The research finds that the contemporary British philosophy of education has several drawbacks due to focusing only on building the economy and shaping a political worldview. As such, this paper discusses how Britain might mitigate its current weaknesses by suggesting to integrate the Islamic model of education (tarbiyah) in order to foster personal development, civic engagement, and objectivity in research, learning, and producing new knowledge-without the need compromise its strong economy.

Abstract

Education is a contemporary social science that has received a lot of attention. As education defines society, it is imperative to introspect the philosophy of education. Moreover, the current philosophy of education in conventional settings is confined to empiricism. Thus, the broader concepts of education such as spiritual transformation and character reformation seem to be non-existent. The lack of discussion-based pedagogies compounds the educational crisis. This article aims to explore human development models relevant to Islamic education as its purpose is, alongside enhancing academic prowess, to provide spiritual transformation that leads to Gods pleasure and good character. The inquiry uses a historical-textual methodology with a particular focus on psychological foundations of Islamic theory to answer its questions. It will aim to explore childhood developmental models briefly and the concept of self-reflection more specifically and how it can be applied in Islamic education. The key findings of the study illustrate the concept of the three types of Nafs and how self-reflection is integral in achieving transformation, a concept that is condoned in conventional educational practice. Muhāsibī’s Risālatul Mustarshidīn with Shaykh Abdul Fattāh Abū Ghudda’s footnotes is the primary text used to establish the broader purpose of education. A brief overview of Qushayrī’s Risālah and Ibn Qayyim’s Kitābul Rūh will be outlined. Moreover, multiple attributes of human development conform to the demands of contemporary psychology to achieve a healthy mental transformation.

Abstract

This religious study discusses solutions to students' stress and resilience living and studying in Islamic boarding schools from a modern learning approach. To fill in the answers to the above problems, we have reviewed several scientific reports from previous studies with the same theme. Furthermore, the analysis is carried out with a phenomenological approach and in-depth interpretation to restudy the principles of the validity and reliability of the findings. Because this study relies on current data during the pandemic, our search and analysis method was carried out online with the help of the Google search engine, namely keywords including "stress and resilience," "learning in pesantren," "solutions in a gentle approach," " learning in modern times. "So we can summarize our findings, among other things, that of the ten publications we studied, the majority of them had successfully examined students' stress and resilience during their study and stay in an Islamic school environment. This publication shows their social support to advance the world of Muslim education, not yet on the soft skills solution as we expected. Therefore, these findings will provide useful insight for further studies in the future

Abstract

Mainstream educational research in Indonesia is still focused on several fields and assumes a Muslim majority scale. However, there is a reality that on a Muslim minority scale it doesn’t rule out the existence of an Islamic educational institution, which runs side by side with adherents of other religions, can not be ruled out. This essay uses qualitative research with a variety of case studies. The data collection technique was undertaken by interview, observation, and documentation. The subjects in this study were the head of the foundation, the director, the secretary, the education bureau, and several teachers at the La-Royba Bali Bina Insani Islamic Boarding School. In this study, it was found that management education in Islamic boarding schools has always been the main concern. The Islamic religious education curriculum developed at the school, located in a Muslim minority area, consistently pays attention to the demands and conditions of the communal environment. Further, the curriculum also attends to the needs of the students in facing the future, both on a local and global scale.
